Privacy in the workplace: What can the employer monitor?

can an employer secretly plant cameras to monitor employees? and can the employer fire/terminate any employees? legally? under the law/s? and can the employee/s file a class-action lawsuit against their former employer? or a single individual lawsuit be filed by a terminated employee? our legal rights is what I want to know here!
