Here's the opening from "Private Eye," the 1987-1988 NBC-TV series starring Michael Woods and Josh Brolin as 1950s Los Angeles gumshoes. The theme music is by Joe Jackson.
I would love to drive any one of those cars from that era. My dad owned a 57 Dodge convertible. Sold it when I was 8 yesrs old after having it for ten years. It tore me up when he sold it, even though I couldn't drive yet.
Here in Spain we love fifties series and movies, i have a 58 caddy and love rock and roll. Hope to watch again. I recorder it on VHS when i was a teenager. Thanks
This was a great premise for a show and was realy well done. Unfortunatey, it seems the public didn't take a liking to its star. What do you expect when the US audience eats up shows like Murder She Wrote?
I always heard that NBC was the one that did not like Michael Woods. They told the producers either he goes or the entire show goes, and the producers stood by Mr. Woods. He was very good in this show. Glad the producers stood beside him. Oh, and there is nothing wrong with Murder She Wrote....at least for the first 8 seasons. lol.
"Crime Story" got two full seasons and 44 episodes. "Private Eye" lasted at most 13 episodes. The ratings were really low. I watched both "Vice" and "Crime Story", but missed "Private Eye", also a Michael Mann show. I'm curious why it held so little of "Vice's" lead-in.
Thank you for the reply,I used to love this programe on late nite TV back in the late 80s,I did phone the tv network in the States as I'm based in England,to see if I could get copies, they thought I was mad...Lil I do have 2 episodes on a old video tape, which I got transferred onto DVD....Ah well memories...Thanks again...

@Christopher Cory Crime Story was from the Producer of Miami Vice in Michael Mann Anthony Yerkovich Created both Miami Vice and Private Eye The theme song kicked so much tail Plus, I definitely remember Crime Story, cool show, yet underrated
I used to watch this all the time as a teenager. It took me the longest time to find out what it was called. I could always remember Josh Brolin wearing his leather jacket kind of hanging from one shoulder. For some reason i thought that was really cool.
