Private sector roundtable on climate adaptation and mitigation in the Egyptian livestock subsectors 

The roundtable discussion meeting organized under the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Programme on Scaling up Climate Action for Land Use and Agriculture through Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) (SCALA), which supports 12 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America in building adaptive capacity and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. As Egypt is one of the focus countries, this meeting aimed to bring together agrifood companies, associations, financiers and all private sector stakeholders to discuss ways to implement the national climate priorities in the Egyptian dairy and livestock sub sectors.
The main focus of this session was to discuss and unpack how agrifood companies are affected by climate change, the extent to which they are adopting or investing in climate-friendly practices, the barriers to implementing climate action, and what public support can encourage them to invest in climate action.
