Ren can say so much without ever saying a word. Such a beautiful tribute to his friend. In the premiere chat, Ren asked us all to put in names of people we had lost and wanted to remember and dedicated the song to them all. It just showed again what a beautiful soul Ren is. Thank you for reacting to this masterpiece 💜💜

It's a beautiful tribute to their friendship, isn't it? Samuel PF is Ren's main videographer. Not the only one, but he does the more cinematic videos (Hi Ren, Sick Boi, The Tale of Jenny & Screech, Money Game 1&3, etc). Ren is mostly self-taught (music and vocals) as he has ADHD and didn't find proper lessons worked for him. So he learnt a lot by copying things he liked, or just figuring out ways to make sounds he wanted. He has spoken in interviews about not knowing traditional music theory but understanding it based on the "patterns" he sees in music. So he follows some of the traditional/classical structures of things but then does other stuff very atypically. It can be jarring sometimes for more classically trained folk when it's "wrong", but all contributes to him feeling like nobody else sounds quite the same. He did briefly go to uni to study performance but illness stopped him pursuing it. Both his parents are musical so he had access to instruments to play around. Then RU-vid came along and he could learn vocal techniques and more advanced skills that way too.

You provide a great interpretation of what you are hearing. To be transported to a different feeling through music is one of the best feelings. I love the butterfly analogy; thanks for that. Your Ren journey is an interesting one since you are jumping in from Hi Ren, to rap, and this just released instrumental. And you seem to understand the complexity and depth and variety that many of us love. We've learned to never know exactly what to expect except that it will be essential.

I love your reaction! You are the first reactor to point out the butterfly. The symbolism means a lot to me. I don't know if it's real, it's just really cool it was there. The videographer Sam you can see him in Ren's video Power

Thank you for reading REN’s explanation of this piece at the beginning, it provides great context. Also I really liked the way you described what each part made you envision or feel. Thanks ❤

I’m very rarely into purely instrumental music, but this somehow felt like Ren was playing words. A stunning and perfect tribute to his friend 🖤🐰🕳️ Also if you want to know about the other friend he lost 6 months prior to Callum: Freckled Angels -> Suicide -> For Joe. Please do them in that order because it makes the last one even more special 🖤

Renegades spotted the butterfly, si welcome to the club. Haven't heard anyone else mention it. If you had let it run just a littke longer, there was a picture of Ren and Callum and a dedication. You will wanr to run his vudeos just a bir, he iften will di a flourish or sonethinf at the end that yoy don't want to miss. I loved yoyr reaction.

Only one other reactor picked up on the butterfly. If you watch Disco Doc's reaction he goes into detail as to what happened to Callum Mackay and Lewis Darroch.

🙏 man, I hope you enjoy your REN journey, you won’t be disappointed, and remember he makes all his own choices, there is no real team advising what to release or what to do next (other than his friends, good friends) from what I see most artist have a team of lawyers and folks expert in knowing what to do to influence or to make impact ….. this guy is a real one

I love your reaction and your comments about the music and performance. Like you, I felt a combination of sorrow and joy that's hard to put into words, as well as the playfulness (perhaps a memory of getting up to mischief together, which is something Ren speaks about in his story of his friendship with Callum).

The intro progression sounds to me like "I met a new friend and he's right here" Also we know Ren knows Leonard Cohen hallelujah, he name dropped it in his song 'the hunger' I really like your analyses.

I thought it was a very good interpretation. I also heard some regret in there. It's amazing how the instrument has a voice and emotion of its own when being played with intention and allowing emotions to come through.

We see you Callum as a butterfly flying bye to thank Ren and flap your wings good bye. I think the second time through he plays it a half active lower, and like a weird key that makes it almost sound choppy, and then the last few notes at the very end kind of give it the sense of like relief or positivity.. beautiful Ren. my best friend died at the same exact age shy I was 22nd birthday..

When I listen to this song it reminds me of the pain you feel when you lose someone you truly loved. Then how over time that pain gives way to the joy you felt when you still had that person in your life. It's a weird feeling to try and describe, painful joy maybe. I just know it's how I feel whenever I think about my dad of friends lost over the years.

Greetings from Massachusetts USA, I found you through Anthony Ray who is literally my favorite reactor. I love your authentic, gentle approach to Ren's music. I've never seen someone start a brand new channel before and I am so excited to take this journey with you! I would love to see you react to Ren's song For Joe as well as Seven Sins. Your reaction to this was so genuine and respectful. I am protective over Ren's music (huge Renegade here!) and I feel you would honor his vulnerability well. Good luck with your channel, you have a new fan.

I am glad you and AR got together to get a channel going for you. I really hope your channel explodes because your solo reactions (just like Anthony's) have a unique touch to them that gives more life to the experience. The videos you do together are very entertaining and educational as well. Anthony sharing his knowledge of rap and music, it is teaching me as well... and your humor is entertaining. I am truly sorry to hear about your friend. To make a short story long... One of my best friends since we were about 11, OD'd when I was around 30. The last 5 years of his life we were pretty close again, I was living a very irresponsible lifestyle supporting others also living an unhealthy lifestyle. I never supported his habit but formed the same habit through hanging out with him, but not to the point of serious addiction like him. After I found out I was going to be a father when I was 29, I spent months turning my life around to one with potential of becoming a responsible father not dabbling in the black market or consuming things from it. Despite that process involving removing practically everyone from my life, I kept him in it. One day I stopped hearing from him. After leaving him voicemails to check up on him once every week or so I got a call from his mom a few months down the road saying he went to rehab and seemed to be doing good but fell back into his habit and overdosed. I will never forget the exact time and all the details surrounding the moment his mom called me, it was the worst day of my life... at a time that was supposed to be the best time of my life because I became a father... The only way I can express to people he emotions surrounding this is through music. I still think about him practically every day. He was the most humble and kind person I ever met. Unfortunately his mind was tormenting him and he decided to take the path of numbing it for too long. I was his only friend that went to his funeral, the rest was family. That was 9 years ago and I'm still trying to accept it and have finally just started grieving in a healthy way over the last year or so. My life fell apart to the point I lost my job about 6 months ago and am trying to get my own business off the ground to support my daughter I have sole custody of... There's where more than just his death that went into my breakdown... but I am getting better and doing at least one thing every day to move my life in a direction that I feel he deserved to live. My heart goes out to you, Ren, and anyone else who has lost a close friend.
