Just assembled the Bear Gold and, let me tell you, the process from start to finish was a major project. First, a pallet stacked with several massive boxes arrived at my house. Just getting the stuff off the pallet and into my back yard was a big job to do by myself. You need 30 cement "cap blocks" to weigh down the base, and these blocks weigh about 30 lbs each. Getting 900 lbs of cement from Home Depot (in my Toyota Corolla) was a project in and of itself. I managed to do the entire assembly myself, up until the part when the backboard needed to be hoisted up and bolted on. You'll need at least three people to manage this. Once I had the whole project completed, I needed to move the whole unit a few feet forward. While this thing is technically "portable," it is so massive that you have to take out 18 of the cement blocks to move it. This thing is truly a "bear." But damn, all the effort was so worth it. I've been shooting hoops all afternoon in my own back yard - including lowering it down for a middle-aged man dunk fest - and my inner 12-year-old is living the dream. This thing is awesome, and I look forward to years of enjoyment.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Glad it worked out great. How likely is something to break when putting it together? Reason I'm asking is because my dad bought the bear platinum one and wants to get it professionally assembled. He was quoted $800+, so I told him me and my older brother could put it together so he wouldn't pay anything. I even showed him this video and told him I could call a friend to help us mount the backboard. But he's still worried we may break it since we've never assembled a hoop worth over $3k. Ive assembled multiple ikea furniture and also have a truck to haul the hollow blocks here, but yah, back to my main question, how likely is it something may break when putting the bear platinum hoop together?

@@venture7o7 I don't think you need to worry about breaking anything, except for when you have to lift the glass backboard. For that step you should have four people, if you want to be really safe. You on one side, your brother on the other side, your friend holding under the middle, and then your Dad can put the bolts in. Once you get the two main bolts in, you'll be set. My Bear is the Gold version, which has a 60 inch backboard. It was VERY heavy. My friend helped me, but neither one of us are big dudes. Our wives helped us to stabilize the thing and put the bolts in. To be extra careful, I even set up a folding table with styrofoam on top just in case we needed to set the backboard down if it started to slip or we got tired. And we actually did need to set it down, because the side padding on the backboard makes it a little hard to get a grip when you're lifting it. The platinum one that you have has a 72 inch backboard and will be even heavier than mine. It's hard work, but 800 bucks is crazy to spend on assembly. You and your brother can definitely do it. Just take extra special care with the backboard. That's the only thing that can possibly break. The rest of it is made of solid steel. Good luck and have fun!

Just know Jesus is always there for you and God cares about you and your situation even the big ones and that has nothin to do to with your goal but happy you got it set up
