He wouldn’t have been judged at all if he didn’t make fun of cal the dragon’s performance We know there was no chance anemic XQC could defend the goal from the start
cal the dragon is an actual goalie though and thought he is better than pickford while being a fraud while xqc has never played the sport in his life, qxc can absolutely judge him when their performances were comparable despite the factors I just mentioned@@Alphoric
XQC will suck in anything physically related regardless . Now let's see Asmongold do worse; players would probably avoid the Goal area because of the stench .
@@yeetthebeet he has skated on stream or video and you can tell that he used to be kind of decent (if not good) at it so he is propably more athletic than you would think
Good reaction video. A little update on my freshman goalkeeper son. This past Saturday, the starting goalkeeper was injured and he had to leave the game. Trey was put in for his first real high school varsity action. He made a lot of good plays against a good team and allowed only one goal. We wound up scoring with 38 seconds left, which gave us the win. After the game, his teammates surrounded him and were clapping for him. He was concerned about how he had made mistakes, but I asked him if his teammates were more concerned with his mistakes or how he helped them secure the win. Between Varsity and Junior Varsity, he has played around 300 minutes and has only allowed 3 goals. We play 40 minute halves, so he's averaging allowing one goal for every game and a quarter. Not too shabby for a freshman.
that's what I was thinking. ksi literally caught the ball and then took it into his own goal whereas xqc did what any non trained goalkeeper would do and played somewhat solid. the big blunders were mostly him not even knowing the rules and ksi has been making football content before I could even read properly.
13:00 I, as a referee, would not consider this a controlled touch by the defender. Especially since he only gets the one touch on it before XQC gets there.
@@playeravigaming Headers are ignored even when clearly intentional, I assume because the rule stipulates the pass needs to be made by foot. As for this example in particular, I don't think it'd be considered illegal, simply because the main objective of the touch is defensive duty rather than a strict pass. Likewise, even if there is clearly intent for the ball to be collected by the keeper, tackles are ignore. This rule in particular tends to be the rule that refs are most lenient with, simply because even if it's indirect, a freekick in the box is often a very good chance heavily outweighing the "crime"
@@nomthejedi yeah, I agree. The defender made a lunge just to try and clear the ball, regardless of whether it ended up, as long as it wasn't inside the goal.
KSI was awful as well but they wanted it to be a high scoring game so put 2 terrible keepers in also KSI didn’t want to play outfield to avoid injury for his fight lol
To answer the question at 15:22 from the point of view of a ref. I would let him pick that up. There has to be a clear kicking motion for it to be a pass back to the goalie.
I’d also argue that Cal had a much better performance when you consider his play with his throwing and footwork. Small things like that are small, but hugely impactful I bet the defense had to walk on eggshells if they ever tried to pass back which I can’t imagine happened often based on how he looked with the ball.
@@Z.U47 this means nothing when talking about game impact. I dislike using this as an excuse for mistakes. Yes it’s an explanation of why the mistakes were made, but it doesn’t mean that those mistakes were somehow less of a mistake. Simply put, he shouldn’t have been playing at the same level of competition (admittedly a YT charity match is quite low level) if he isn’t going to be held to the same standard.
@@lukeb1663 he shouldnnt be held in the same standard mate. simply because it is a charity match. for charity. and alot of his mistakes were clearly because he has no idea how the position works. it is a completely valid point for his mistakes
@@lukeb1663what level? Its a charity match, not a league. Ofcourse he shouldn't be hold in the same standard. The 1st time he played was 3 days before said match. If he comes back next year and still plays the same, then you can hold him up to such standards. By then he should've known the basics so he could come in more prepared. Comparing him to Cal the Dragon is ridiculous. Are you going to compare Jidion to Angry Ginge too then lol
Honestly from what I saw XQC has a good mind for goalkeeping he has just had fuck all practice, apart from one little kickabout from Niiko's channel. (Which he performed really well in btw) I'd like to see him back next year, and maybe regularly link up with Speed inbetween now and then and see them both massively improve
so glad to see you back, love your content and btw do you know anything about when aviata might restock some of their gloves like the calisplash? i really like some of the older models
Not sure if they are gonna restock the calisplash. But if you liked those you'll definitely like the Stretta Gotham Frost Yeti which are in stock. They are pretty much the same as the calisplash except for how the top of the fingers and backhand are stitched together and the color.
as a fellow juicer who has been watching xqc for the past 4 years and your videos for the past 2 years, I really couldnt of asked for a better reaction video
Me laughing before watching this vid, great content bro, and when are we keepers going to see more stuff you post on the field. Please do some tutorials for us
I think he could be a good keeper after some more training. You can tell that his form isn’t great. But I think after more time practicing positioning, form, etc. He could genuinely be pretty decent. Also, glad you’re back! Can’t wait to see more videos. ❤
also he has good reactions from gaming all day he just needs to learn how to play goalkeeper, lots of people judging him harshly for this when this is impressive for his first game tbh i made mistakes like that even after years of playing
13:00 I'm with you. In my experience as a goalie, if you just pick that ball up like it's yours, the ref will assume you were confident it wasn't a pass back and wave you on.
Would have a question on your analysis of the first goal. Would it be sensible to be leaving the near post more open by stepping into the field, but not be surpassing the post if that makes sense? Difficult to explain in English, but I have a 16 yo playing national level here in Belgium and his GK trainer always tells him to stay rather low, never give up his post by surpassing it because as he's quite tall he has more time to react staying low, both in the short as well as in the far corner. Please comment if you will :)
Yeah, on the first one he definitely should have stepped into the field more while staying in line with the ball. It might give up more of the near post in doing so but ideally not so much to where you can't cover it with a kick save. I think this is what you are asking.
That goal where he gets confused with his defender he said he thought it touched his team mate on the way back and he didn’t know if he could pick it up or not so just tried to clear it and the defender ran infront of him
Hey, Im a Gk and I have a really hard time claiming crosses , i always fail to get a hold of the ball it slips out. How can I improve this? I love ur videos
Again, eyes on the ball instead of people around you, decent gloves. A pair of gloves from £40 upwards can improve your grip hugely and give you that psychological edge every time you go up for a cross. And remember: take the cross at the highest point you feel comfortable at. Waiting for a cross to drop into your chest isn't the way . Safe hands! 👐
The first goal was scored by Ethan who is a West Hame fan and if its not obvious by the massive West Ham badge (tbf you might not know who West Ham are so the badge means nothing to you) the match watch played at West Ham's stadium, i'm nit a West Ham fan but i think the stadium is just called London Stadium or The London Stadium
Hey tyler i have a question, what should i do if a striker is trying to block my view of the ball during a free kick, similar to messis free kick against ecuador
It's obviously very annoying to deal with. I'd say just try to find a window to see the ball without moving your preferred position too much. Sometimes leaning your upper body a bit to get a different viewing angle can help a bit also. And then of course like on all freekicks don't cheat and move before you know which direction the ball is going.
If the striker is in an offside position while blocking your view, tell the ref before the free kick is taken that the striker can't be in an offside position and blocking your view. If the striker doesn't move from that position and then they score the free kick, the ref should know the situation and give offside as the striker has interfered with play (by blocking the GKs view) in an offside position. If the ref doesn't call offside, firstly you have a terrible ref but secondly make him aware again that the striker was blocking your view and that you did tell him before the freekick (so it doesn't seem like you are just moaning because you've conceded a goal). The ref should at least consult with the lineman to confirm the striker was in an offside position then give an offside call if they were. If the ref doesn't even do that, then you've got a really terrible ref with an ego too big to admit they initially made a mistake and need to change their decision from a goal to offside
Many people don't realize how huge the goal is, even people who watch football. I'm into football my entire life and i play but usually five-a-side, when i'm on a full size pitch in front of a full size goal it always amazes me, it's ridiculously big xD Even people who play football in a field position would have a problem as a goalie, and xQc is a random dude, who not only isn't into football, but into sport in general xD he did fine imo.
12:55 I think it would be a very harsh call to consider that a pass/backpass. My understanding of the "Backpass Rule" is the pass needs to be intentional. I saw that play by the defender as a "clearance attempt." For instance, I don't think we'd be scrutinizing it at all if the defender had simply shanked an incoming cross, with the keeper then claiming the loose ball. Similar idea. That's what the last 23ish years of my football playing & watching life has taught me anyways haha.
The goal at around 9min: he was indeed confused about the rules. He thought since the last person to touch the ball was his teammate that him picking it up would result in a penalty.
Being a goalkeeper is scary and not easy, he did ok with some heavy mistakes here and there but his team's defense didn't help either, they compromised him too many times.
As someone who hardly ever played himself Im still impressed how bad XQC was lmao.. That being said he probably knew his skill level as well and decided to still go out there and join the event, so I guess props for that one.
Times like these I wish I made a RU-vid channel of my starting out gk on my own lol maybe could’ve gained traction since not a big gk RU-vidr market lol
Brother in the first clip where you suggested that he comes front to cover the space from the 1st pole but there is another striker running, incase he charges then the goal would be free for a pass-goal. Thought?
This is ABC. I read the book described football basics, goalkeeper vs forward position and so on, when I started middle school. It was really helpful. Kids want to get knowledge, but especially they’re interested in. Parents should keep an eye on this.
in the "duel" against his own teammate.. I would blame the defender over the goalie there.. in regards to the "sliding save", it was a block of shot and a save, it was and should 100/100 times be "pick up-able" by the goalie as it was never intended as a pass in that scenario.
Always keep on your toes, got to be the quickest over 5 metres. Never stand still for a set piece, always give yourself a little take off run up so you can meet the ball at the highest point possible and make up an extra 5-6 inches. Safe Hands! 🙌
As a ref, def would not have called an indirect if goalie picked up the defender’s slide save. There’s no way to be able to call that an intentional pass to the keeper.
There's a certain respect that goalkeepers have for other people who play the position that is really unique. Most of the negative comments aimed at keepers are from people that never played the position. I will never forget Tim Howard refusing to celebrate when he scored for Everton on a freakishly windy night. Never seen any of your videos but this was cool, thanks.
A bit late to this but yeah I agree. It's probably that being a keeper is the most unique and likely one of the toughest positions on the pitch, and that creates a semblance of siblinghood where we're drawn together through shared experiences.
@@appletree13Being a keeper is not probably, it IS the toughest role of the game. If you have any doubt, just watch "50 CRAZY goals from Brazilian Football 2023". As in the title, it's from this year, and only in one year, there were so many unsaveable bangers, that i will say, being a keeper is like trying to extract milk from a rock.
The first rule of Goalkeeping is the same as the first rule of comedy: You have to commit. You can't be worried about getting hurt by the ground when you dive for a save, you just have to launch yourself, THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS STOPPING THE SHOT. xQc hadn't learned that lesson yet.
You can't blame him, he isn't an experienced goalkeeper and this was probably his first real experience as one Not everyone is built for being a goalkeeper and he isn't one of those person, nothing wrong with that Messi, Rodger Federer, Lebron James and Mike Tyson are also probably horrible goalkeeper but that doesn't make them any less of an athlete
He doesn't have a huge platform because of reaction content, he was the best Overwatch tank player in the entire world in 2017 and that's how his career started, he has a huge platform because people find him funny, it goes as far as him getting 80000 people to watch him feed ducks and they absolutely love it. He could do anything and people would watch it exclusively because of him.
Yeah people can roast his goalkeeping ability after ONE training session but no one can say shit about his talent as a personality and gamer. He built it all himself
Ref here. No way that second-to-last play would be considered a backpass. There is clearly zero intention to recover the ball to the 'keeper, and even if there was, from that angle there's no way to know that the ball didn't come off the shin or some other part of the leg of the defender, which would void any call for a backpass anyway.
