Yes, you are a winner because you are correct. Well, curing longer does not really over cure it. Over curing usually refers to curing with an intensity too strong. But when the base coat is cured longer it becomes more "dry" feeling and the colors might go on different. In the video I wanted to show how the colors really go on and not on a base coat that has been cured for 1 hr ;)
I like the darker oranges, although I’m not a gel fan. But very pretty. I’m fairly new here and I was wondering if you have ever done a review or have an opinion on ILNP polishes?
Thanks for the video ❤ I always enjoy the swatching episodes 😊 Do you do one finger at a time with the base coat to minimize the fluff contamination risk? 😃
I’m not a fan of the CND shellac summer 2024 collection. The fist color that you applied to mrsl his nail is very pretty 🤩. The other colors are not so nice in my opion.
The ugliness of the collection is shocking. what did they think?!And meanwhile, there is a shade of red missing, that I am searching for years. If you wanna help, it is discontinued Collistar in shade rosso montalcino. Or discontinued YSL in beige legere, also searching for Substitute for years. The transparence and the color of both was just perfect. And cnd is doing… this. 🤮
Swatching with MSL are my absolute favourite of your videos. I love your clarity and honesty. It’s so helpful to see colours on real nails, not just perfect nails. Personally, I wouldn’t buy any of these colours but I think CND should give you free samples of everything as many people will be more inclined to buy with honest real reviews!
I only like your favorite, the first one with the glitter. Since I am in the cool color range I can't stand anything yellow or orange. So they are a big no for me. I am so sorry you spent so much money on them and to be honest: don't think you have to buy expensive nail polish especially when you don't like the colors either just because of us. When you spend so much money you should at least enjoy the colors. 😊
Thank you so much Patricia! I want this channel to be helpful for people and I do what I can. At least with CND Shellac there is a chance that one of the clients will pick the color. The reason why don't really swatch other brands is that I only use CND and Dazzle Dry in the salon. So I have hard time buying other polishes because I know I won't use them...
i like the ugly green 😁 you could wear the first one as a jelly sandwich between the colors from the first hand when you have longer nails. maybe that would look cute? but the collection itself is a pass for me. i don't wear anything that needs to be cured in a lamp.
You may be the last to swatch them but you’re about the only one I watch and trust. I love doing my nails and you provide such great education and guidance, thank you. Some of my favorite products have been from your suggestions. You apply the base individually because it can run quicker than I can to cake at a party and runny base collects/floods on the sides. This collection would frustrate me as I could see myself applying thick layers trying to make sense of these colors.
Night Brilliance is stunning! I can see that used in a New Years Eve party manicure for me! Perfect for us that don’t care for bold solid gold colors. Did you purchase that color in Vinyluxe? I’d hope the formulas would look the same after application. As far as the rest of the colors? I really think CND is trying to jump on the jelly polish/korean nail art bandwagon but I get the impression their typical customers aren’t really into that trend given the negative reviews. Thanks for the video!
As usual loved your video. I don't like the colors. I was introduced by you to DAZZLE DRY when you were still in Canada and that's all I wear now. I like every thing about dazzle dry, EXCEPT THE PRICE, however it is the best for nails. Thank you for keeping us informed. Please do more manicure and pedicure videos. Love watching you so that I can learn. You are number 1 in this industry, Thank you.
I like sheer colors sometimes, but I dont like the way my nail looks underneath. So I use an "underwear" of a nude or white under them to eliminate seeing my free edge underneath.
Actually, I think the two candy colors are beautiful (dark pinkish and orange) not fan of the rest, even though I like green and yellow polish. I would never use the light pink “stain color”.
Thanks for asking our opinions on these colors. The darker orange colors might end up looking great on summer tanned skin, but all the other colors are gross! Thanks for all you do for us!
This was so funny to watch 😂. I had my usual pedicure in Spain a couple of weeks ago and chose one of CND’s regular non gel polishes in a rose pink. It faded within 10 days and was not light fast at all.
Boy those are not great. And the price? Shocking. I've gotten some ugly shellac on Amazon but it was from bargain brand. I would have expected better from CND.
i like greens, and the green with the little shimmer looks like a green candy. i also in general like the sheer 'jelly' look (but since my nails ar not in a good condition and often a bit stained, nothing i can really 'rock'). most yellows i don't like, maybe.. maaaybe a sulfur, or green leaning highligter neon yellow i could stand, but this one wouldn't have a chance no matter what. the others are a bit boring, maybe the magenta could get a chance. (p.s.: in general i'm more into cool colours and these aren't cool toned at all) However, i enjoyed the video.
Hmmm…not my favourites so far. Maybe over white (or black) they could look better…? 🤷🏻♀️ Thank you for sharing! I like the index finger dark pink the most.
I am always excited about the videos you're posting! It's so soothing to watch you work on people's nails, and I am also trying to learn how to apply nail polish correctly. It is hard lol, I am definitively not a natural talent, but I do expect that with patient and practise I will get better. At least, that is what I am aiming at. I am not a nail tech or anything; I want to learn how to better take care of my nails and apply nail polish so that it looks good and lasts. ❤
I can attest that the sheers look amazing with chrome powder applied to them. But to the CND executives who are in charge of picking color - You guys phoned this one in - people should get fired for putting out such a poor selection of colors. This has been a problem for CND for several years. Get new people in charge of your color selection, your current crop is abysmal
I like semi sheers that look like pink builder gel (llike a rose quarts pink color) - how can I achieve it with Shellac ? Can you recommend af specific color og color combination? I thought maybe these colors have that semi-sheer crystal stone / rock candy effect.
I think the red and orange are cute for short nails and maybe nail art on longer nails. The glitter is beautiful. I don’t mind the green, but the yellow is pretty bad! The peach one is just meh.
I really think the lightest pinky shade is a solid option for having some slight protection over the natural nail, whithout it really looking like you're wearing a polish. It could be applied quickly & without much care & I think it would still look nice
I think they meant to go with the whole jelly trend. I like that they are trying, but the execution was off. I liked that red though, it looked like candied apple on the nails.
I like the first 4. The peachy color is my favorite. I’m not a fan of the green in this collection and the yellow is fine. They all turned out great on the ridged nails
Years ago Butter London was the first to introduce jellies. They had green, orange, teal, purple, and a dark pink. I of course ordered a few- I hated them because it made my free edge look discolored or dirty. These are a no go for me unless as you said for clients with no free edge. Glad MSL is back! You two are so very entertaining together!
Lols just found your channel for a tutorial on Shellac application, which was really interesting and helpful, and now I have found your collour swatch videos and have not stopped giggling at your commentary! Immediate subscribe! I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos ❤ xSacha
It’s so nice to see Mr. Salon Life back to being a hand model for swatches! The second color used, the orange sheer one, does make the nails look stained. Your sister is correct. I’ve actually seen a photo of someone’s nails that were stained that color. I really dislike the looks of sheer polishes unless they are just a touch of color that is a natural color for the person’s skin tone. Using myself for an example, that would be a sheer pink color. That’s just a person taste on my part. There’s an indie brand that does a whole lot of sheers. I also think that in the indie polish community, sheer shimmers and sheer other finishes has some popularity right now. I was dying of laughter during the swatching of the green. “I don’t think it’s going to make much of a difference.” 😂😂😂 “baby turd yellow.” Oh my gosh! 😂😂😂😂. I’m watching this while applying my makeup (eye stuff only) and am having to mop up laughter tears before it messes my eyeshadow and liner up. That is an ugly yellow, but then I really dislike yellows. I have to say that this is an awful collection. Maybe they didn’t want to dupe themselves and ran out of colors and finishes so these are the only ones they haven’t made previously…..
I am an opaque fan. So a jelly collection isn’t my thing. But I do love the first one as a topper. I am really here for the banter. You two crack me up. You have also convinced me to try dazzle dry. I am normally a vinyllux girl. But when I saw you do the head to head….i think I want to spend all the money to try the system. Thank you for another fun video!
@@TheSalonLife thank you. Can you tell me what are the advantages of this over a gel polish or is it maybe in the video? Just curious. Btw, I was the new subscriber that told you how much skin grew at my cuticles and how hard it stuck to the plate. I ordered the kerasol but while waiting for it I used Vaseline around the cuticle and cotton gloves overnight. Then in the morning it was so easy to give a little push back. But what surprised me was how easily I could grab the skin under the PNF edge and just pull and most times it comes out in one very elastic piece. Then there’s no damage from cutting into the nail fold. I tried the kerasol but it soaks completely in by morning. However I’ve been using that on my toenails which are just as bad plus calluses and the kerasol is great for those. So I’m sticking with the Vaseline on my finger cuticles. I do it every day, and there’s something to always grab. They look fantastic! So thank you. It’s truly shocking the difference!
I kept giggling through the whole video at your comments. I don't think CND are rushing to send any PR yet 😅 The reason you cure one at a time is to avoid the coating shrinking. I do this for most gel polish too. 💅🏼
No, that would be flashcuring but Shellac is pretty good and it doesn't shrink much. After the 1st coat I flash cure and then touch up the ends, and do full cure. The color stays perfect that way.
