I’m pro free speech, but, this isn’t ok. Making demands and being violent if you don’t get your way feels more like terrorism. Why isn’t the university shutting this down. There is more than one perspective on an issue. The violence here isn’t creating a dialogue. It’s coercive. CSULA needs to shut this down.

Ok, so property is not considered important compared to lives. Yes, we all get the point. HOWEVER: The people who worked there are out of their pay for work until the center can be fixed. A lot of students have to work while they get their education. So did I. Loss of income from a job that allows you to work around your school schedule is huge. Commuting and on campus students will have no where to go to eat, hang out between classes in a corner so you can study or refresh for a test or just hash out class notes with classmates while you eat is a hardship when you don't have that option. When you are a commuter, and have 2 classes 2 or 3 hours apart, the library gets old fast. Insurance has to go their little cycle before anything can be done to restore the building. Since no one has identified exactly who was or was not there from the encampment,no one will be charged and arrested promptly. This is not a minor problem. Arrests need to be made. If nothing is done, these incidents will escalate. It is costly, aggravating to all who deals with the fallout from someone else who has no better way to spend their time, and a total waste of resources all the way around. Punishment or retribution needs to be meted out. Community cleanup service or restoring back to order with hands on work paired with lockup until the job is done, and actual monetary fines toward restoration, not just physical labor by itself, sounds right and justified by law to me.
