You are not, she has a funny pronaunciation of the letter ´o´ - In my country we have a special letter for this ´ø´ - like: Let´s go take some fødøes :-)
I own this lens, because it came with my camera. I was a little skeptical at first about the end results, but your pictures turned out amazing. Which proves I suck at photography and just need to improve my skills. 😂
Ladies and gentlemen, Julia does it again!! This is awesome! Also, can we all take a second to appreciate the model Karina, hello!🔥🔥😂🙌 My favorite photo is when Julia said that shipwrecked joke and Karina gave a genuine smile/laughter moment:)
When I first started shooting with my kit lens, I noticed with the right settings on camera and composure you can get amazing pictures. I used my kit lens for years before buying a prime lens. I bought the prime because my kit lens just could not create the images I wanted, but I still love using my kit lens. You could encourage beginner photographers to master their kit lens before buying a prime lens. I think if a person has mastered a kit lens they will understand what to do with a prime lens, rather than just creating bokeh.
Yes I couldn't agree with your more!! I also did the same thing when I first started photography. I knew I wanted that soft, lots of bokeh look for my portraits but all I had was a kit lens and couldn't afford anything else, so I just took that time to learn how to use my DSLR, how to work with natural lighting, etc. If anything it will just make you a better photographer since you are working with a more "real" looking image than a dreamy 1.2 photo to learn all those things if that makes any sense 😊
Julia, you have the perfect feeling for lighting, composing and posing… the video shows that the person behind the camera is far more important than the gear used.... Thank you for assuring me that i already have the right stuff and „only“ have to learn how to use it... Greetings and thanx for all the fine vids, Stephan
Just shows the camera and lens makes no difference to the end result - the photographer and their level of creative ability (and interaction with the model in this instance) is the most important element - as Julia demonstrates perfectly ! Simply fantastic shots !
to be honest, I'm surprised and amazed by the quality of the content of your channel. How you work with models, critical methodological approach analysing results, photoshoots behind the scenes, cool inspirational ideas, your thoughts about lenses and hardware. I love that all ! (unique LR presets and PS actions tones too !) There are tons of photo tutorials on youtube where authors try hard to be funny or seem cool but not really giving anything valuable. Thanks youtube for recommending me Julia Trotti channel ! ;) Finally something really worth subscribing
this channel might be the fastest growing photography channel right now! 245k! i’ve literally been here since 50k which feels like just a few months ago like wow, i’m impressed and proud
I would never underestimate a kit lens! XD I was in a trip in a foreign country and didn't really pack up any gear other than a kitlens and my camera. But an instant commissioned collab work came up and had to do it the day I was on vacation. I was really skeptical because I literally had all my gear left behind, but to my surprise the kit lens worked wonders! It's really not 100% on the gear, your lens and your camera are just tools. This just shows that you really are a great photographer Julia! So love the output
Thanks a lot for putting up this video! I'm used to shooting with primes and just entered the mirrorless system with the a7 III, struggled with the kit lens at first. This video proves that the kit lens is no slouch and can produce some beautiful portraits
When the whole wide world is busy showing you the best of this camera with all the fancy len’s, you nailed it and showed us the true ability of this Little power house with a Kit Lens!!! Thanks for that and amazing photography 🔥😊
I found the best way to get a decent blur in the background with a kit lens is to shoot wide open and almost completely zoomed in so it changes the depth of field. You will also find shooting backlight actually helps with blurring the background too. But one thing I found was that it helps to use a lens hood with a kit lens to get a more pleasing contrast in the images. I also found that kit lenses work well for high/low key portraits too.
On the 70mm end of this lens is where the aperture was at 5.6, zoomed out the aperture is the widest so I wanted it zoomed in enough that it was a flattering portrait but not too much that it's at 5.6!
What the f**k... I swear i was just about to buy my sony camera kit with that same lens and i also added 2 more lenses (50mm & 85) and was worried about the end price, but then i saw this video and i immediately removed the 2 extra lenses and saved almost half of the money.. Craaaaazyyyyy, you really take the maximum out of every lens. Thanks for sharing such VALUABLE CONTENT!
I got this lens with my A7iii and if I’m being completely honest, I’ve probably used it more than my Sony 35mm fe lens. Since I’ve noticed this, I’ve been shooting more on my 35 as of late lol, but this lens is actually quite good and can be a treat to shoot with in a variety of conditions. Mostly, I have been shooting street shots. Not a very shallow depth of field, but a decent amount of subject isolation is still possible with this lens if shooting at certain distances and lower zoom settings.
Yeah this is definitely not a kit lens that I remember from back when I started photography 😂 they did a good job with this one, it’s capable of taking some high quality pictures!
I own this lens and was getting discouraged, after seeing this video now I understand it’s not the lens it’s me! This video just gave me the push to not give up and keep practicing! Thank you! ❤️ I usually have my ISO in automatic I think I need to play w it more manually.😅
Great video again! Most people forget that this kitlens (or any kitlens) is capable of producing nice and high quality images. You just know what to do with it!
Are you able to show the unedited photos you took with this standard kit lens? They look so amazing! Would be nice to see how they looked prior to editing them
I think you might have convieniently left out the Photographer. You can have rhe best camera, lenses and light and still get bad images if you don't know how to compose, expose and direct your model. Just my two cents. All 4 are important.
I recently bought this camera and lens! its the first "real" camera I've ever really messed with and I'm super excited! this video was so cool to see someone actually taking amazing photos with the kit lens! you did an amazing job!!!
How beautiful your photography is.....how beautiful you are.....how peaceful your voice is ....how adorable you are....i listen to you wid my eyes closed....is it really possible to become that important for someone wid distance?.....just think on this....for me how special you are... 😊❤️
Thanks Julia! I've only recently found your channel, but I am working on becoming a better photographer and it's truly helped! Appreciate your work...and your models are all stunning!
This video is great. It shows the capabilities of the kit lens which is really pretty good. Not the best, but definitely usable and beautiful. I've been watching your videos for a couple of years now and always loved your style. Your BTS videos hand IG feed helped me in improving as a photographer and eventually finding my place. Especially your shoots with Kristina. :p
Great video! It’s so easy to be carried away with specific need to have-gear, so it is very refreshing to see a photographer use a kit lens for portrait with great result. 👏👏👏 Thank you for the reminder. 🙏🏻
That's it folks! That's how you review a lens... I'm sick of tired of reviewers shooting charts and pixel peeping to 100% zoom. Who do that when you open the box in real life ? lolz
Incredible photos. I am a total beginner and have just bought this camera with the same lense. So im excited to learn photography and try to take photo's like yours.
When I was still on a crop Canon, I would use the 18-55mm kit lens all the time for landscape shots. 18mm was easily the widest of any of my lenses, and the small aperture made focusing very easy.
In my opinion, the best thing in your video was the way you worked with the sunlight! I am very happy about this video, as I additionally bought this kit lense to my a6000, as I wanted to get a "cheap" objective with more tele than the 16-50mm kit lense. Now I feel much better, as I have never been sure whether it was a good choice to purchase. But your video motivates me to improve myself with the lense I already got instead of buying an other lense 🙈
Big fan from Indonesia. Always waiting for your videos !!! Because it's enjoyable and you always take a great photos. You are one of the my favorite youtuber !
I have just purchased a Sony A7 and this lens was on mine, went and did a few shots with my wife and daughter and was blown away with how sharp the lens is (for a kit lens). Great channel by the way
Well if you do portraits with it you cant go wrong since subject is mainly in the center of the frame an close to the camera..this kit lens is enough sharp in the center..but bad in the cornes (landscape or distant objects)
@@guerillaprojectphotography254 sorry I don’t. However there are many videos on RU-vid to help you. From my experience it is a good lens and takes great photographs.
Wow this Kit-Lens is rad! Well except for we really can't tell. Considering to make use of it and showcasing it's strength is all about how Julia masters lighting, final touches - her entire expertise. The model also does a fantastic job! Well done :) Would love to see how this lens performs against the Tamron 28 - 75 now!
