Love my spot lock on Minn Kota works great most of the time. We went to Okeechobee fishing grass flats and needed power poles!!

I run a Terrova 80lb with Spot lock. My 14' boat can't handle a hundred pounds of shallow water anchors. My big boat will have both. Thanks Andrew.

I don't have the room for power poles, so I have 12 foot BT Talons. Fuel tank takes up all my space in my 2004 Legend

I have the good fortune to have both...... I fish the Mississippi River a lot and fish in shallow grass...... TM gets balled up when moving around in grass.....so while moving I drop poles get off thr motor and many times the wad of grass floats off without needing to pick TM to clear...... Keeps us a little more efficient on the water.....

Hands down for me is Power Poles, because I mainly fish for bedding bass.

I bought a 12ft 2 piece Panther shallow water anchor put it on my self it's $100 planning on getting a second one cause in 15+ mph winds I sorta spin around. I stay anchored pretty good up to 8ft as long as I find soft lake bottom. But having two I could place both at the aft of the boat or keep one at the aft and on on the stern. I have a 94 tracker 17ft bass boat so not trying to sink thousands of dollars in it. I can't afford spot lock or Power Polls...I mean they cost each as much as my entire boat. 😂

Spot lock. I live on table rock . Power poles would only help me when launching or a few weeks in the spawn.

I don't have either. But hoping to get a spot lock trolling motor soon. Really want to get better at fishing ledges in the summer.

Spot lock 1st priority, PP 2nd. Both are essential. Both have uses the other one just can't do for you.

Spot lock for the lakes that I mostly fish but I see the value of power poles in shallow water bed fishing situations.

Most of the States in the North East have closed season during the spawn so I can’t justify the cost

Average depth in my home waters is less than 10’ so power poles for sure but I have both. Spot lock in shallow water is just not a good idea with the trolling motor constantly going ...

You can deploy one power pole and use the other for support while taking a leak off the back of the boat. :-)

Where I fish, 20 feet from the bank, on a boat is 15+ feet of water. This is why I went with spotlock and never got powerpoles only because I haven't gotten to shallow water enough to have to get one.

You need both and a traditional anchor. Something not mentioned in this video is spot lock/anchor lock is useless without some wine or current. And unless you only fish shallow water so many times power poles are to Short.

My main Fishing buddy just bought a Lowrance Ghost with spotlock. We fish a deep clear mountain lake reservoir steep banks and sitting 20 yds off the shoreline you’re in 30 ft plus water. Fished in the wind last Sunday with decent wind speed on a point and caught his PB smallie. Would have never been able to do that if we didn’t have spotlock.

Thanks for the great explanation on both units! I agree there's a place for each one. I just got a trolling motor with spot lock and like it for water depth of 10 ft and above. Looking to get Talons for 8 Ft or less. Had talons before and had good experience with them. Stay Safe & God Bless!!

I have a bracket that I drop my push pole through to hold my boat. It cost about $100, weighs almost nothing and works pretty good. I hope to get a spot lock TM when I can.

Currently I don’t have either, but I think it depends on your lakes you fish frequently. Deep or shallow. If your a touring pro, you need both.

An old school anchor is more quiet, emits no electromagnetic field and is dirt cheap!

Sup brother. They definitely both serve a purpose. Poles for shallow anchor and helps putting on bank.. and spot lock for deep.. but spot lock hold you at dock. I don't have either.. and don't like poles as much because they in way bc i rarely fish alone. I just can't afford it.. 😪 but I know I'd be better and more consistent with an ultrex off shore. Even shallow at times . Maybe one-day Hope to meet you Saturday. PW my home lake. I plan on making a run tho to my closer home lake Bay Springs. Good luck

I just bought a 2021 Phoenix 21phx with all the bells and whistles including all garmin everything! I have had nothing but trouble out of my force with pairing issues and Foot pedal going out! Is this common? I've only taken the boat out 6 times.

At Christmas my wife said I want to put power poles on your boat! Hell yeah...what a wife. Call me dumb I told her I’d rather have a spot lock trolling motor. My reasoning; I can catch bass up shallow. I needed and wanted to learn how to fish offshore in deeper water. That’s the reason I chose spot lock first. I moved away from the MK brand and went with the new Pro Tour Motorguide. My boat is older; so 24V was my only option. Happy with 4mph full thrust burning the banks
