I really wish I knew of this page when restoring an old shifter kart. It would have given me a much smaller headache!

Many thanks for these video Justin, I am getting a lot of information so I can play around myself on my kart. Any chance of doing a video on how to replace bearing at the rear, Eg how to get in them and out of there housing carriers - PS Also a question, 4 bolts to hold a axle bearing carriers into chassis, have also have a screw that comes in from the top of the carrier. What is the purpose of that screw as it doesn't screw into anything, just into the housing from the top - I have a Arrow X2 - Lots of thanks from Down Under Australia

Hey, i've found your Pro Tips very useful. But could you do a axle change video for a DD2? There's nothing about it on the web apart from the official manual by BRP...

hey nice tutorial....is it better to have a hollow axle or a solid one.....what is the weight of that axle??
@Lopezish14
@Lopezish14 5 лет назад
It's better to have a hollow axle because most of the shear stresses from torsion act on the outer diameter of the axle. Material near the center axis of a solid axle is almost unaffected by torsional forces, so you might as well use a hollow axle to save on weight. Now in terms of bending, a solid axle is stronger than a hollow axle. However, the difference is small. So a hollow axle is best because it's still very strong and lightweight

I just bough a Tony Kart Racer 401 S chassi (2015) and I have to change the brake rotor (OTK brakes). Do I have to remove the engine (Rotax Max) or can I slide the axle with the engine in place? I just bought it and have prior knowledge about karts. I'm used to bigger cars. :) Thanks in advance!

Kim Mäkynen where's the best place to buy good shifter karts?

Would you consider doing some "detuning techniques" videos via converting 2-Cycle Karts down to the newer 4-Cycle LO206 class? It seems that some of the energy the "low output" 4-cycle engines might be getting used up quickly within the Karts not originally designed for them. Some items could be the benefits of bringing a 50mm Axle Kart down to 40mm or even 30mm and the effects. A possible "Narrower" track etc. Seems there is a growing market of liquidity for "last years model" in 2-cycle Karts for 4-Cycle Buyers but there's no "How to" to keep them interested once they see they cannot compete with a properly tuned 4-Cycle Kart and might loose interest. Thank you.

since this channel is terrible at responding to questions, could anyone who knows and sees this comment tell me if it is typical to just run a single disk on the rear axle opposite the engine side, or does specific placement not affect kart control while braking in general, also, when would front discs become a necessity for your kart performance wise, thanks
@kart360
@kart360 6 лет назад
A rear brake disk is always on the left rear side, opposite the engine. Anytime front discs are used are for shifter packages and sometimes high end CIK 125cc single speed categories like OK using a hand brake.

That's not what my axle looks like. I'm searching for a video on how to remove the axle on an old 1980s go kart that's full of rust and has seized nuts. The fact that this video is how to disassemble a brand new from the factory rear axle that you most likely just assembled is pretty ridiculous.
