*Update*, For those who have recieved this message "Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found" you're not alone! First identify if you can run Konsole or Tilix. If you can, your qt issue is with the terminal like mine was. Insert this export QT_QPA_PLATFORM=offscreen Then close the terminal Ctrl+Alt+T will reopen it and run the Konsole or Tilix command again. Hope this helps, took me a week to figure out what the issue was.

Take a snapshot before your update. Update and upgrade notoriously break some tools inside kali. If you're really concerned about having the newest packages, wait a month or two and get the next quarterly release of kali!
You don't need to install a multiplexer. Just use 'Ctrl+Shift+R' to split the terminal window Vertically and 'Ctrl+Shift+D' to split it Horizontally. These commands can also be accessed through the terminal menu under 'Actions'. Using 'Ctrl+Shift+E' in the active subterminal will close that subterminal.
Good point and true. However, if you are just going to use the multiplexer the same way you would a terminal window and don't care about customizing it. Then a multiplexer is just more stuff to install and update. As with most Linux tools and features, it's your choice.@@douglascybersec

I'll be honest, I'm new to all this. But... The fact that I understood everything and proceeded to remember everything the next day without looking back at my note was great. The way you quickly but clearly explain things earned you a sub from me. I'm an old out of the loop "cyber security enthusiast" that was REALLY into this stuff back in the late 90's and then the patriot act hit and I walked away from all of it, so I'm way behind but wanting to get caught back up. My preferred OS back then was FreeBSD but I'm giving Kali Linux purple a go and trying to get back on that horse. (Since there are a lot of legal ways to learn and test ourselves now) The amount of info you quickly and clearly crammed into this fairly short video is MUCH appreciated by an old dinosaur like me. BTW, HOLY CRAP @ JohnTheRipper is STILL a thing hahahaha was one of my favorite go to tools back in the day.

I recommend that everybody take the time to create a python script that will install all tools, dependencies, scripts, and other things with a menu to go with it

Bro im getting very much errors on the newest kali version like python doesn't download apt update and upgrade doesn't work some apt commands does not work i just installed it on vm oracle again but old versions where working best back then now it's full of errors i tried changing the repositories but nothing i moved on windows bro

Hey! :) Well, if it's from the right source it should block it. First try installing the extension package first. And make sure your win 11 is updated too. If the issue persists it could be some incompatibility with your system then. And make sure evrything is configured well...

I have a question .. when I format a USB drive for a live USB. How do I set up the partition so I have room to upgrade my packages? I have a 2 TB USB flash drive and after installing Kali Linux on it, it runs out of room somehow
hey, are you able to access internet on your current OS in the first place? if yes... your pc got a card for internet already which you gonna need for installing the tools ofcourse plus only need a wireless adapter for wifi hacking

I use kali on virtualbox to run vorta and to backup all media on windows to borgbackup into a proxmox cloud! And vscode its very very powerfull. My idea is to use kali vm like a connector by my hostname nas server and external web into a protect vpn. I install also shell gpt and this is very cool! I have a lot of idea with these. I think the way to do that is to have user or admin privileges to that file or user group of whatever its associated with. Other than that I can tell where you heading but cracking passwords needs to be done ethically. 🤝🏽

oh no, repository issues - happens to the best of us. anyway if tried and still can't locate the package from the sources.list, then you ll install it manually with wget

Hey:) Did you mess up with your sources.list file? And are you using kali-rolling? Seems the the repositories aren't properly fetched or something.. if all is fine first update && upgrade to refresh it. Then try again and for tilix might be working well with the rolling release.

Hey, thanks for your support. If you use ifconfig I guess you don't see an ip address assigned to eth0 interface right? That means you didnt connect to the internet. So what you do first is to power off your machine and on the network settings change it to "Network Adpater" and login again. We actually talked about this too in the previous videos "Staying anonymous series episode 1" if you do this and still experiencing some errors give me a response. Or you can chat me up on Instagram and we solve it together with screenshots and all that. Hope to hear from you.

I'm invested! We shall definitely do real life examples of most videos but all in ethical context and disclaimers to protect the video. And yes for NMAP I guess we have to do python projects too. NMAP will definitely be one of the first tools to cover since it's got business with the first stages of hacking!!

Hey Douglas thank you for your content. I have a quick question🤔 I run into an error after installing tilix and konsole. Here's the error message: (tilix:112021) Gtk-WARNING **: 07:03:49.191: cannot open display (i.e. for tilix) and for konsole: qt.qpa.xcb: could not connect to display. qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the QT platform "xcb" in "" even though it was found. Please how do i fix this problem?
Well, warnings are not usually errors but they do need to be taken seriously. Tilix typically runs with GNOME principles and I guess you are using XFCE right? I would face alot of GUI issues like these too just like GTK but all is good now that I switched to GNOME desktops. There's a pinned comment up for the solution tho. I'll tag you as well and check it out. If it doesn't work then we can figure out another solution after I read through the error codes.

(i.e. sudo apt install tilix -y) after that, I typed tilix and it’s opened. Thanks for your help and great content. I would like to be mentored by you if there’s an opportunity or room for that. I assumed this was going to be a noob video. It's not, which is great. It covered a few features in Kali that many advanced users thoroughly enjoy like shared clipboard and multi terminal windows which I've used Xterm or Terminator for a while but there are many more as well....anyways liked and subbed, great video!
Well, make sure you update && upgrade, then download the .deb file if it doesn't work then it has to be something to do with the whole repository from Microsoft so you might add it manually then just like how sources.list file works but vscode has it's own procedures you can check out along the same webpage I suppose
