strip silence.!! amazing. been using pro tools for an embarrassing amount of years to only just learn this. thank you what a time saver.. so do you have any tips for then replacing this silence we have batch pre cut with our selected room tone in a batch way, without having to go though and do each bit with a paste. thanks

Yeah, you can remove just the silence with the strip silence function and cobble some together (or even better if you have dedicated room tone), then what I might do is create a track of that room tone for however long a time frame you want. Then you can mix that track in with your track with desired signal (the one where you already stripped the silence), or you could drag your desired signal down over/on top of the room tone audio so it overlaps and replaces the room tone in the spots with desired signal. You might need to do this one clip at a time so it doesnt replace your room tone with negative space, and I would make sure you have your clips time locked or use the arrow keyboard shortcuts and copy paste function to maintain the right timing. You also have to be in slip mode for that to work, but then you can just batch fade it all and have a listen.

@@CatoNoise thanks I think I’m going for room tone in a separate track and maybe use some side chain ducking so that it fills in the silence :)
