+Евгени Найденов Rick, seems one of those guys, who has no ego, and just want's to share some awesome riffs. I love these types of guitarists, as they are humble and have so much teach. My band mate asks,"Whoa! That's a new one, where'd you learn it?" I reply,"Rick! Rick Graham!" My point is, it's a newer video and already 558 likes, so that's 558 people, as of now, who learned something cool, from this video.
I'm a guitar player myself and this dude is one guy and a handful of others that no matter how many times I watch the video I'm still blown off my chair at the sheer quickness, speed and percisine and the housekeeping (played clean) and technical skills and all around knowledge of different styles and the Level they are at through practice that Master Guitar Players have accomplished is and always will be impressive and just plain kick ass too listen too and watch 👍👍👍
Hi Rick! Thanks for little snippets of videos like this. I'm nowhere near your playing technique but you inspire me to keep trying. Greetings from the Philippines!
when i started playing way back in the day, tabs werent around. so i had to listen rewind listen rewind etc. tabs are wonderful if youre stuck. but i have found tabs can be incorrect. for the TABS people out there instead if looking at numbers listen to this exercise and figure out the tabs on your own. i guarantee you it is much rewarding AND you will be better player for having done it.
you and your Ibanez are definitely on another level than me and my Ibanez. I know you probably don't think much of it, because its where you're at, like me when most people say I'm excellent and all that....but, from one dedicated player to another, you are entirely masterful in your craft. I started at 11, I'm 22 now. I can't even imagine the day that I will be able to pull that off as perfectly as you did. congratulations man. you kick ass.
Thanks for the lesson, Rick, and your recent sequence advice! I didn't tackle this whole sequence, but got one great chunk that I extrapolated, the diminished ascending one. The advice to use the 2nd finger to shift was the key! I shortened it (not having 24 frets) and play it fingerstyle, with slurs. Then I did the same with whole tone intervals, great fun! I needed this advice, as I like sequences and patterns, but get lazy practicing them. I also don't want to play really long sequences, as they begin to sound mechanical, but used sparingly and with other concepts they're fantastic! Thanks!!
I like the way you play and you know how to explain each mode you play, I'm also a guitarist, but I'm just starting with my channel uploading my own projects. Cheers...
what a lick! this will take some doing to get down... lol and that hammering on from nowhere going down the arpeggios, I knew I wasn't alone! I always beat myself up because I do that when descending in an arpeggio or some picking patterns instead of picking everything lol
I hear Tony McAlpine myself being more familiar with his work. Many reference Jason Becker and I can also understand that as well. Whom ever is your neo-classic God of shred, Satriani, Malmsteen,et al. I think all those guys have used this arpeggio in their songs at one time or another. Great lesson on how-to Rick. To add: I think the right hand technique is equally important to get right to make it all work smoothly.
holy shit your playing never ceases to amaze me rick, god damn lol wish i could economy pick like that. also, loving that red rg you have, didn't they only make a handfull of that model? it's a beauty
brilliant!!!! hey rick can you make a video on how to set up the truss rod, neck relief ? i hear and see such different opinions on this matter, i'd appreciate your help
i would have to start at a beginner level although i consider myself a intermediate player. if you could would you please show us where you started to play.
thats because lane used alot of "hammer on's from nowhere" .......its definetely an accuracy thing,..but my playing has got alot better since discovering this,...rick is getting great at it!
Awesome job Rick! But could you maybe play this on the Strat too with 22 frets ? Im stuck with one guitar only here in Japan and its a 22 fret strat :) Matt Keep em vids coming ! !
I know it's an old video, but I just have to say that goddamn this lick is fun to play. I got tenosynovitis to my right hand from practicing it, but now I'm back with a healthy hand and I'm going to try to play it as fast as shown on the video.
Normally a note is already ringing when doing a hammer on. But you can just strike the fretboard with a finger and it'll sound - hammering from nowhere. Arguaby it's not a hammer on depending on your definition.
good speed and almost as bubbly as Becker.... this is getting there. And that's saying something as very few people have got anywhere near Becker at his best but Rick has a chance. Been watching the improvement from afar over some time now..... muee impressivo to say the least.
not talking about comparing virtuosity.... JUST technique. And a specific one at that. It's ok to have preference you know but sometimes something is just actually better. Now don't get all butthurt.... I wasn't saying anything bad here.... against anyone.
Silvercordband True , I just haven't applied them .Pawned star both guitars my acoustic! twice week I play..But your comment made me think (Pentatonic) pattern". doesn't feel like its rolling smooth? My Fingering sucks I hate guitar!
