i remember hearing that chunk at a weekend camp around march at my school, ive been looking forward to hearing that part on the field so much, lord they did not disappoint
@@skyler6101 how does the sound in person compare to the audio? Seems like as the years go on, the mics do not do the hornline any justice as to how loud they should be 😞
I think it's more closely related to their 2015 Kinetic Noise show, which is in my top 3 all time DCI shows. I've either been in the audience for or performed in drum corps since 1977, so that's sayiing a lot.
I need some time to unpack all this. I'm honestly not sure how I feel. It does have some amazing elements to it. I'll get back to you once they have a few more runs and change a few things 😆✌️❤️
I love the foreshadowing of the closer’s melody in the background at 6:03 Such a freaking amazing detail that you don’t realize until you watch multiple times
has some really neat moments so far aside from feeling a little disjointed structurally, the accelerando front ensemble run synced with the drumline and that bassline feature towards the end were the highlights for me. excited to see how the show develops over the summer
Some really great stuff in there. Drill on top of the prop is pretty cool. Im presuming the ending will change over the summer. It honestly sounds like a lot of noise. But some cool licks in there. We will see.
Bluecoats are always so conflicting for me. Overall, they're my favorite group. At the beginning of each season I'm not crazy about their shows, sometimes not even at the end of the season do I like their shows. But then after several listens, they always become my favorite of the season. I have no idea what type of voodoo they are doing, but keep doing it. That said, I'm digging the vibe of the show. It's such an odd feeling, and distinctly different from basically any other show. Parts of it can definitely be better though, but the closer is absolutely my favorite moment of the season so far - it's flat out awesome and I love it. So you go, KFC Crusaders! Go get 'em!
like last year I had no idea wtf they were doing. I saw them again at semis and me and my mom both didnt realize it was the same show. I really hope they can take over devs but they got stairs so well see.
i was personally lucky enough to see this live and every good part of the show on the recording is SOOOOO much better in person, this show is absolutely electric and i can absolutely see it beating BD this year, but thats a little personal bias as my dads a bloo alum
I was curious about that. The synth really seems to dominate this audio (and left me feeling like they needed to do more with the instruments for the sounds). However, I always have to remember that the recorded audio is often VERY different from the live sound. As others have said, we'll see how it sounds in August at finals, because I'll be there! :)
Amazing show. Unfortunately flomarching knows literally nothing about this activity. What are these cameras pointed at? Just stay on the wide angle at that point man :,(
i dont really know how to describe this show tbh... feels more sound-oriented than music, if ya know what I mean. ballad and percussion feature together are honestly beautiful
I think that’s kinda what they’re going for. It reminds me of the birth of electronic music, how it started out as just random sounds and then soon evolved into everything we know it to be today. Everything is music !
this show introduced so much interesting music to me! unis are growing on me. Seems like an incredibly difficult arrangement. Also, I finally got my wish for a no-narration show :) . As usual, it will rely on how clean they can get in terms of where they end up placing. But that hasn't mattered to me for years now. (BD's shows just aren't for me. Not every bloo show is either. But at least I find them interesting.)
Coats have been doing ending fakeouts for a decade now, its definitely just a temp ending until they get into some competitions. They do this every year, its predictable at this point.
Oh yeah it'll change. 2 years ago, the first run of the show stopped at beginning of what became the ballad. They added 5 minutes of show throughout the season. I forget what venue it is, but they always unveil their final show at the same tour stop every year
It’s missing the thematic brilliance of the rest of their shows from 2018-2023. Feels a lot more like 2014-2017. They’re doing really cool stuff and musically kicking ass, but the theme is kind of ambiguous and muddy (at the moment). They’re playing their asses off but I do miss the storytelling elements of the past few years.
Love seeing DCI teams performing at the smaller venues; makes them look and sound bigger. Also nice uniform rendition of the flag of England; maybe they should be the Redcoats.
This beats bd. Bd in my opinion always has some fantasy or fiction al show for the past couple of years and bluecoats always has something different to offer the audience
The bluecoats have solidified as my fav corps. Always on the precipice, and this is probably my favorite. The storytelling, the musical journey, the way they keep telling the audience “This is a dci show. The flag sounds are music. The static noise is music. THESE RESTS ARE MUSIC. ANYTHING IS MUSIC AND ANYTHING CAN BE A DCI SHOW.”
I think you’re thinking of the opener from last year, which was “The Woods” by Chick Corea. It had a similar trumpet sound to this but not quite. Unless you’re talking about the ballad chunk, which was “____45_____” by Bon Iver.
@@jameshartzog1256 I really hope so. I know they usually change their closers a ton throughout the seasons, like adding the soloists to the ending last year and everything they did to the '22 ending.
Its quite unfortunate that the mandarins and Bloo are both playing agape because hearing this after hearing the mandarins take on it is a world of difference.
Drum corps has apparently morphed into a run to a spot, hit a note, and run to another spot...eat happened to the great marching drills? Not just the Bluecoats, all of DCI has become this.
I usually don’t respond to these but I’m genuinely curious, what moments feel like this? I can think of MAYBE 2 spots in the show where I’m playing and not moving. If you are referring to the “Impact moments with choreo” try to find a high cam and focus on any specifc member for a few minutes. You’ll realize these are all just small parts of much longer (and very drill heavy) musical phrases.
that's how I felt about Crown's show last year. Having listened to the repertoire for a month or so for this show, I could pick out so much that was recognizable. I don't personally get everyone's fascination with Agape, but they still did a beautiful rendition.
Gotta let the show grow on me, I think. I do want more playing from the brass. Right now it just feels like there isn't enough brass outside of the big hits. Bluecoats have been my favorite corps since 2014 but like... I dunno, it's a bit "off" to me
That's right, keep blooing, robot traditionalist fans, instead of cheering. See how that ups the GE score. All relative newcomers think you're booing and that there must be something wrong with the show. And they too won't respond with deserved enthusiasm.
@@drumsRus i dont know, in my opinion this show isnt as interesting as their past shows, i get that this is the first performance but i dont like it that much. for what they have they perform it well though
@@fishdinners7760 yes currently its being executed great, but phantom regiment always has close to perfect marching by the end of the season. we saw a huge change last year in their shows from start to end, and im talking about placing in the finals. i dont see them being able to compete with blue devils this year either
This is the strangest show I’ve ever seen from the Coats. It’s all over the place. Where is this music from? There’s more jazz running from the hornline than from the guard! I would like to see the Coats get back to real music and uniforms and let go the winter guard theatrics. This show won’t win a championship or be 3rd at best.
… have you been watching any dci for the past 10 years lol your definition of “real music and uniforms” will NOT be coming back any time soon sorry to break it to you. and also remember this reply when they take gold this year
The corps is obviously talented, but they lack any real identity (no blue, no helmets), and the show lacks any real theme / is soulless. Hopefully they make a lot of good changes soon. And give us helmets!
I kind of agree the music selections were good but I don’t think they were put together well. There were definitely some really cool moments but this show has so little to offer and I’m kind of disappointed and those unis are awful
@@DavisJayyall are clean af btw, this early on too. 👏 I think everyone was used to the style of show that 22’ and 23’ had. I have a feeling there was a lot of stuff we still haven't seen though so I’m exited! Gl (congrats on snare)
