It’s referencing the fact they did not move the pump filter to inside the tank on the intake tube, and the addition of the tabs on the media basket being the main complaints about the new filter. Thanks for watching !
In 36 years I have never had a power filter lose it's prime when the power goes off and then comes back on. I keep my tanks full and they never lose their prime.
I already have the AC30 running for 30 days or more. It wasn't dirty at all, I could have not bothered to rinse the internal sponge. The prefilter on the intake holds on to most of the debris and that needed a good rinsing. I'll need to find a small cup I can put over the intake the next time I turn it off to clean it so it doesn't just release all the debris on that intake sponge when the flow stops and I pull the intake out.
@@reefhugger100 a sandwich bag over the pre filter before removing it really helps a lot. I have a "Qanvee Aquarium Gravel Vacuum" I was lucky enough to come across at a local amazon return store for $10. Its a small diameter tube and I just use that to get most of the debris off the pre filter without removing it. Just suck off what I can then twist the prefilter 180 degrees and get the rest. The vac is pricey but worth it. I dont think I would have ordered it at the price on the buceplant website, however now that I own it, I wouldnt go back to the larger diameter style. I also made a pretty handy nano vac myself out of airline tubing. I should probably do videos on those. Thanks for watching!
The filter should not lose its prime when power is disconnected. If it loses prime the water level is too low. That being said if the water level is correct, and the filter does not lose prime but will not restart flow, the impeller area needs to be cleaned out. Thanks for watching!
So you could cut a plastic soda bottle and use it under the outlet with some sponge to baffle the sound and flow a bit. May be a little neater byt the filter floss works
Yes I agree on the lid for sure. I could stop mine from rattling if a bottle of prime was on it lol. The new AC20 I have has not had any rattle at all. Its quiet and I have no complaints so far. Thanks for watching!

I have several older aquaclear filters. I think the tabs on the filter basket are a good improvement to keep media in place. Have you tried turning the filter off to see if it really does re-prime itself? That is one improvement I'd like to see as our electricity does go out periodically.
If your filter loses prime when the power is turned off, either the impeller area is too dirty to properly function, or the water level in the tank is too low. I have a few other videos on my channel showing power failure with the new aquaclear ac series. Check them out and Thanks for watching!
