For people struggling with the displacement, the newest version of octane is not recognized so have to be baked, here's how 1- Create Noise texture as in the tutorial 2- Create Baking texture node 3- Connect the noise into the texture tab inside the Baking texture node 4- Connect baking texture to the displacement

I just got Cinema4D yesterday and invested in a udemy Cinema4D class. Watching this, I'm overwhelmed by the amount of knowledge needed to create something like this without watching your videos, and pausing every second for missing something because you know the program so well it looks like hyperspeed to me. This is so amazing, but I know it'll take me a while to create something like this without a tutorial, but I'm grateful to take on the challenge to learn this program to make myself more valuable to the 3D animation industry.

Best of luck learning Cinema Mark! It's one of the easier ones to learn for sure, it has a very intuitive and pleasing layout compared to some (cough cough Houdini). I forget how quick and subconscious it is for me, just keep practicing everyday and within 2 weeks you will already be pretty fluent if you look back. I am actively trying to slow down for newcomers its hard to break habits in tutorials lol. One thing I would suggest is Elementza's modelling tutorials, start learning to speak the language of modelling and reading shapes and how to re construct them in 3D. If you do that, you will become a tank in this craft very quickly :) Some tips: - Bevel everything - There is no minimum time threshold for a render being a piece of art. Don't over complicate your scenes out of perfectionism. - Abuse the node editor in octane as much as possible. - Never try to render faster, render better. A lot of artists get caught up in the rat race of bringing down render times. I have been through 3 machines in 3D and my render times only get longer because I get better. Stick on a long render and go model something or creatively recharge. - Learn as many keyboard shortcuts as possible (They will make you work a lot quicker) - Never get above tutorials, I still look at numerous everyday. They will be your best asset in learning. I think I have 5 tabs of them open as I'm writing this. And you will learn much farther than any degree using them. Most people with degrees in this field only graduate to watch tutorials constantly anyway. - Boolean's suck - Once you have some experience behind you. Start making tutorials, one of the best ways to learn is to teach. It will force you to understand what you are doing with extreme depth :). "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough". - Einstein The front page of my channel has a list at the side of other people that make great tutorials. Best of luck to you bro! Feel free to reach out personally if you ever have any questions :)

@@Sketchyvisuals Thanks for reaching out to me. I'm a graphic designer and photographer and I want to learn Cinema 4D and Octant to bridge the gap. I just learned last night from your tutorial that Octane does not come with Cinema 4D so I had to get an subscription with otoy. Your words really touched me man. Thank you so much for the quick reply. I tried to find your contact info but your Instagram and website is what I could find. @sketchy How come my displacement isn't showing up, either is yours when i use your working files... I can kinda get it to work if I use a baking texture in between the noise and displacement node, Is this due to S22 and octane not being updated? Very confused!

It was very odd, I recorded this days ago and posted the renders in the Octane Render Facebook group back on Sunday. Definitely a coincidence. I liked his approach though it's a shame he took it down I'll have to ask him.
@TravisDavids
@TravisDavids 4 года назад
@ArgoBeats @Sketchy images on the octane render group actually inspired me to create the tutorial. I decided to remove the video from my channel because i personally feel like i don't want to create clones where a lot of people will create this effect and it might devalue Rik's work BUT that is just personal choice. Imitation is also the ultimate form of flattery but sometimes artists get offended. I've never done a mimic tutorial before so it felt odd to me after it was uploaded. At the same time, i feel like it's also ok to showcase the technique, none of us claim it as our own, we even give the artist direct credit by honoring his style. We are all trying to just help and do this in good faith. I did it in good faith but just as a personal choice i decided to remove it. In the design world everything is a remix, is anything really original? Do we really just come up with ideas from thin air? I don't know. I still love your approach to this Sketchy and i think it's still ok to showcase how it's done, i just opted to remove it off my channel, it's personal choice. @Sketchy your tutorial will probably be the most definitive approach to achieving this effect with cinema 4d and octane render.
