Interesting hardness tester. Wish I could have seen the ramming, the opening of the mold, and the gating system. Looks like it was filmed by the workers themselves wearing cameras, so that could explain the lack of total coverage. Given that the footage came from the workers, the filming really turned out well. very fascinating video. I love seeing large molds.

Aposentado morando na cidade de Pariquera Açú, Estado de São Paulo Brasil. Técnico em metalurgia, pela Escola Senai Nadir Dias de Figueiredo (antiga escola Senai de Osasco). Trabalhei na Komatsu Brazil 1974 a 1977 (Shohei Ichi e Iwashigue Tsuyoshi) tratamento térmico. A Komatsu Brazil montou uma fundição na planta de Suzano 😅

I suspect it just isn't 'cast iron' but in fact Spheroidal Graphite iron (SG). It is almost 50 years since I worked for a company that produced electricity generating steam turbines. Amazing to see many of the skills and techniques are still being used. A brilliant video.

they say they use chemicals to make the sand hard. some foundries do not do that but then the sand can fall out.
