As an addition to my vegetable gardening, I also like to show the processing and cooking of it! After pulling dried dent (field) corn 2 weeks ago, I am now ready to start processing and cooking the corn. I have wanted to be able to grind dried corn into corn flower and grits and in this video I try it for the first time. I am using a food processor since I don't have a corn grinder and will then pass the ground corn through a fine sieve for flour and then a larger sieve for grits. I will then cook the grits to see how they taste. This video is the 19th of the three sisters series that I have done this spring and summer and I will likely do one more where I make corn bread. This garden is in northwest Louisiana, zone 8b. It is an organic garden and I utilize principles from Back to Eden gardening, Ruth Stout gardening, and regenerative agriculture. The corn that I grew is hickory king corn which is a dent or field corn. I also did a video in July where I made southern-style cream of corn with freshly-picked, ripe field corn.
