MIKE PINDER MOVES FORWARD AS OF THREE HOURS AGO PER NEWS MEDIA, BUT HIS MUSIC STAYS WITH US ON PLANET EARTH. THANKS MIKE. YOUR LOYAL FANS WILL ALWAYS BE YOUR HALL OF FAME.
I've Had The Great Opportunity to See This Band. They Have Always Been My ALL Time FAVORITE BAND! From the Very Beginning Of Their Sojourn! What's Not To Like!!!! Too ALL The Moody Blues fans great knowing YOU ALL
What many don't remember is that these guys were music-writing professionals, not just some garage band that played by hearing. Their music was no boot-stomping guitar band. These guys were the real deal.
I would have to add that the poet who didn't sing, drummer Graeme Edge, also contributed greatly. This album was the first in which a song by Edge had a melody, but not the first that had an impact.
never read so many positive and heartfelt comments about a group some 50 yrs. past.Thats what the Moody Blues left for us.what a wonderful contribution .thxm
From the days when putting an album on to the turntable was an event. Those of us who were there didn't know how lucky we were and those that follow will never understand.
The Moodies had that wonderful distinctive way of letting one song lead into the next, the way "Procession" does with "The Story In Your Eyes". It was such a creative device that both connected the songs while introducing a new song, to such beautiful dramatic effect. After so many years, thank God the R&R Hall finally came to their senses and inducted the most deserving band not in the Hall. Congrats to Justin, John, Graeme, Ray, Mike, and Denny!
Of all the rock bands that came out of the '60's, The Moody Blues set the bar high. The Beatles may have been first with the concept album, but the Moodys ran with it and made it their own. And what's remarkable for me, they did it without smashing guitars, riding motor cycles inside hotels, or tripping out on drugs. And they are still out there, playing their music. I loved them then, and still do. Their style, their music lifted you up and took you on a journey. It still does :-)
Oh yes, Peter Simmons is so right. LSD, psilocybin and cannabis. It's too bad the masses ruined these things, but in the right hands.....Well it sort of made all of this possible. Do not confuse these things with the death drugs of today.
First Moody’s album I bought. After listening, I went out and bought all their previous albums. Two weeks ago saw a tribute band “Go Now” with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and it was fabulous playing so many classic Moody Blues songs. Have seen the Moody Blues at least 7 times live.
Far and away, my favorite band of all time!!!! This is album I listened to when my marriage was in trouble. It put my mind at ease and everything worked out!! Thank You Moodies!!!
"Procession" just makes my hair stand up. It has that "Dawn of Creation" feel about it. Back in 1971, a lot of AM stations would play it along with "Story".
I don't think Justin gets the credit he deserves for his guitar work...I think he is a virtuoso on the instrument...No one else sounds like him...That is the hallmark of a great guitarist...His sound is instantly recognizable...
Their album covers alone were works of art and beauty! But their music was simply ethereal and took you along many rides and flights of fancy. They were part of an era to never be seen again....
Been to two of their concerts and got a chance to see Justin Hayward a few years ago in a small venue. Got hooked on them in 1970 and have all their albums -- even the breakaway group "Bluejays". Everyone of them is my favorite.
Having all their albums, their music was more than music, when you put on their albums you are putting on a needed emotion of spiritual calming. So many times through the last 5 decades have M-Blues gave me that therapy.
How lucky can one be but to have been alive in a musical era with the giants who entertained, inspired, and instructed us in how to dance ,live add live with one another as the Moody Blues have?
I met the most beautiful girl in 2011, by 2012 we were together every day, Most beautiful voice. We would sit up and listen to videos all night. Even though she was born in 1975 she just admired the beauty of the Moody Blues. The Voice, Story in Your Eyes were two we would sing and dance along with... I send my memories out to other's that may have met someone as I did...I know you can imagine meeting someone and sharing music through the night.
I haven't listened to this since I was a hippie at the University of Colorado in the early 70's...hanging out in a dimly lit dorm room with friends passing around a doobie.
Just listening to the right rear channel of the quad mix. Had the sound turned up and I heard a very distinct heart beat during the first few seconds ! Can you hear it ? I love listening to the seperate instruments and vocals on each of the 4 seperate channels played through the whole system !
It's so like 70s-80s which it is and loved it.... Without a doubt 70s,80s and 90s are the revolutionary years in music industry,i was born in 93" so mostly grew up listening to 90s(well mostly Hindi songs as I'm an Indian) but no matter what country you belongs to those years had the best music and I just love vintage music and 80s had the best songs in the history of this industry (in my opinion) I just 80s American and British songs ❤️
I was a Freshman at Leeward College on Oahu when this came out. Scored some Owsley Orange Sunshine and made my way to Tantalus Drive overlooking Honolulu and put the 8-track on. I have not been the same since...
I have long covid at the moment, and have had since new-year 2021, I suffer from brain fog and can't really concentrate, but listening to the moody blues relaxes me, this is a top song/tune.
I remember being 3 yrs old and my father playing this song very loud. I used to be so afraid of the intro with the cavemen. I would hide under the bed when it came on.
Graeme was always on the forefront of alternative percussion, I remember an interview he did around 1985 claiming to have great things in store while promoting an album release, electronic drum speaking. I believe this album was the first I ever bought.
The very first album I ever bought....right here. I bought it at P.J. Snodgrass Boutique in Bedford Ohio......cool place in it's day. That would have put me in 8th grade.
Their first 6 albums (thats the only ones I have listened to) are masterpieces. Its sad that I never gave these guys a chance when I was younger, im in my 50s and have just discovered them and all 6 of these are beautiful
The initial swirling sound represents the Seeders of the Stars descending. When the ship lands we hear the generator musically decelerating ( I just noticed that the first scene of the 1977 movie" Close Encounters" begins with a very similar swirling sound! And probably Spielberg expanded this "Procession" brainstorm in "Close Encounters", cause his ets use a melodic way of comunication !) The Planet is still desertic. Then comes the little help to initialize the CRE-A-TION
I been listening this two tracks since childhood, and to me "The story in your eyes" is incomplete without "Procession", both are like one track, both telling two parts of the same story. The way it draws you into it to then take you in a journey is just brilliant.
The message is in the music, so gifted. Many of the bands from then were killed off for the message. True history of music and the many greats over time has been silenced.
The biggest Ambient-Mystica-Song from all of the Rock-History... is this! No People are more fantastic, than those digging-up Chrystals out of the Mountain-Rocks! (Pat, Switzerland)
I first heard this when it was premiered on our local FM radio station one afternoon in August 1971. I was at work, at my very first summer job, sorting out boxes and boxes of old files. It was boring work but at least they let me have a radio. I was paid $66/wk.
So impressive intro. I don't know if I'm wrong, but since I listened to it for the first time, I imagine an extraterrestrial plate coming to a primitive earth, teaching our primitive relatives how to be humans. I find some similarity with the first part of the 2001 A space odyssey book by Arthur C. Clark. The whole album is definitely out of this world, a really master piece.
