This my second time running into this particular video. I never forgot it because it's brought me to tears both times. Something about the ending really gets to me. I've always felt like the personality of Procol Harum is both warm and jubilant, yet dark and mournful, like a funeral. Anyways, this is my favorite song in the whole world, and has been since I was 17. (that's almost 20 years now)

Thanks so much! I wish I had a favorite song or band or artist, but I like so many, which is not to say MOST (but still a lot). I am quite selective about the old and the new. Procol Harum I still regard as one of the best bands ever created in the 1960's ... and like you this album, and this track which takes up almost the entire side, is one of my favorites. It was an ambitious and heartfelt work by the band and their lyricist and a monument to their collective genius. All the Procol Harum videos I created on my previous channel did very well back in the 2015-2019 period, why they are no longer as eagerly embraced today is a mystery to me.

@@mikemunrowsretro8973 Yeah, I'm not sure why that is, either. I think I found this video on Vimeo, it definitely wasn't RU-vid. (I tried to upload this song, but they blocked it) So maybe something changed on their end, that they allow it now, or it got bumped further back in the search results due to all the other uploads, etc.)

A timeless classic from a long overlooked band brought back to life by The Maestro of video whom we call Mr.Munrow ! You've once again snatched another nugget from the fire 🔥 and made it your own for all to enjoy...thank you sir !

Wow! Thanks for all the praise Jon! Long song so it took a long time to do. It is from the previous channel, though ... I did it back in 2017 after my channel took off. Got a ton of views back then. A lot of people loved Procol Harum still, in 2018 and 2019 too. "A Salty Dog" went sky high. But these days there doesn't seem to be much interest anymore. Low views on all my Procol Harum videos. Same technically is true about my Pink Floyd videos. I guess the audience really has changed a lot in just a few short years (I was only absent from RU-vid for a little over two years, lost the channel in August 2019 and got this new one in November 2021). Environment on here is sure a lot different.

Rare one to me from Procol Harum, Mike. Can't miss his voice, ummm, forgot his name. Ummm.... No, it's gone. Gary Brooker! 🙂

Thanks Huw! I would say, around here (that being western New York/Ontario, Canada), this was probably Procol Harum's TOP FM radio cut ever. "Simple Sister" and "Whiskey Train" were not far below it, pretty big ones too. Of course I am not mentioning the more obvious major cuts, the ones that went Top 40 and were big AM hits like "Conquistador" or "A Whiter Shade Of Pale." For the deep cuts, this was the greatest one, at least for me.

@@mikemunrowsretro8973 Seen Gary Brooker doing ' Whiter Shade of Pale Procol Harum Copenhagen Denmark ', a few years ago, with the Danish Royal National Orchestra and choir, in an outdoor festival? Look it up if you haven't seen it, it is outstanding!

@@huwzebediahthomas9193 I have, Huw. In fact, on my previous channel that and a lot of the other songs they did at the Denmark concert I had playlisted. He was in top form, in m opinion, made his recent death a shock to me. Anyway, I'll probably get back to that concert again when I have the time. Thanks!
