Thanks to everyone that let me know how to use the colour picker! It seems I'm running an old version of OG Procreate so I missed that nifty little feature that has pulled over into Dreams. Huge news! ❤️❤️❤️
The "colour picker" you seem to be describing is actually a very versatile context sensitive menu that you can customize. To easy colour pick in both Procreate and Dreams, press and hold on the screen with one finger. The colour you're pressing on will appear in a magnified bubble, and you can move your finger to find the the exact colour you're looking for. Note: In Dreams, you appear to need to be in the Draw feature for this to work.
@@TutsPlusTom Not a bother! We're all in this steep learning curve together! Everyone ranges to jump in and get animating, and we're all hitting these little (and not so little) hurdles. Thanks for the video. I found it very helpful.
I forget which. In that color picker, as you move across the color it will show the color you are over and the last previous. I think the pickup color is the one on the top half.
@@lyshalysha101you drag and drop the color menu button from the corner to the area you want filled! i found out this feature like 2 years into using procreate it’s definitely hidden
Can't wait to give this a try. I've attempted to learn other animation apps in the past with little success. The learning curve on this doesn't seem bad at all
Three finger swipe left-right and up-down in the timeline will give you the finer control you’re looking for, I believe. You can zoom on either axis individually instead of both like when pinch zooming, and it’s much easier to make sure you’ve got content starting on the correct frame.
Thanks a lot, you’ve cleared up some confusion that I had. I’m hoping that they bring back the perfect circle and line feature. I got so accustomed to just holding do the pen to create a perfect line or shape 😂
16:00 I noticed the issue with Mov files that frames randomly are not rendered, resulting in black video frames while drawings are still visible. The solution I found is first exporting a video from the Photos app - using the Share button -to disk with the option Most Compatible. Then import the exported video into Procreate Dreams. Now the video is rendered completely without any issues. I hope they fix this bug soon.
Thank you for this first video. I'm brand new to Procreate Dreams. The explanations were a bit too fast for me so, I had to keep rewinding! But, I appreciate that's just my being a newbie. What I'm after with this Dreams is, if you think of the animated version of 'The Snowman' by Raymond Briggs, I want to create something similar that I can add text within the scenes, so that it can be watched and read by deaf people too. I know it's a tall order to get to such a level but, it's where I intend to try. I'll use the motion function within Dreams a lot and, import layered scenes to use and animate. I do wonder how I could add audio voicings to the whole created animation though. Any help on any aspect of what I'd like to do, would be very welcome
Yes it would be possible, a lot of work mind. A professional animator for Disney made a film of 1.30 that took 12 weeks to make. Stick with though and you could make something really special
As for motion design, there are two functions under the Move menu called Warp and Distort that seem pretty powerful! (Keyframe animation) I think they made a fantastic effort with Dreams, but the workflow has been quite frustrating for me so far. There are a lot of basic UI functions that are absent (keyframe copying, looping, curves editing, duplicating several clips at a time, moving several clips at a time(!), etc) or ambiguous (grabbing a clip versus extending its boundaries, precise moving, knowing what frame you are on exactly.) I think I may just put it down for a few months and see what updates come in as it just doesn't really feel workable to me at this point. Frame by frame animation does feel a lot more user friendly, but there too some very fundamental tools are missing (auto-shapes, lasso select, layer masking.) A good start is clearly there, but still a bit of a disappointment from my side. Hoping for a more robust UI in the future!
thanks for the tutorial. iam having a problem with rotating objects. i go into scale move touch the 3 dots and can get the little ) to rotate but each time I touch it it scales and does not rotate. Any help would be great thanks
(sorry if this was mentioned already) can you use the record button to drag across a 'object' that has it's own animations already? like for example an animated 2d bird flapping as if flying.. then you take that flapping bird animation and use the record button to move it up and down or over the screen area ?
hi ! is it possible to buy it and use it for photo animation ? For example, i'm not fan of after effects (i prefer to work on my iPad)and i do stop motion and photo animation. I want to know if dreams is similar to after effects ? Thanks :)
It seems strange that there are 2 modes to start in. Every demo starts in "empty" and don't mention when you'd be better off starting off in "draw" mode instead. I don't see why there's even a need for a "draw" mode when you can draw in the "empty" mode. Do you know?
I am really interested with Dreams. But can you beginning from zero and create your video and after effects (hello Adobe) or is it better to create my video with Luma fusion and after put effects with Dreams ?
