I didn’t realize what I was signing up for compared to doing animation and just procreate 💀 but I’m happy that I now have the ability to be able to access an actual animation and editing program that can make animation so much easier. Lots to learn but totally worth it
Have the ability access animation program....as if they werent there before. The animation program studio ghibli uses is free. Opentoonz. And digicel flipbook was used for princess and the frog...titan a.e and by legendary Don Bluth. . 20 bucks for the cheapest version. About the same as procreate dreams. 50 bucks for fancy -you know what you are doing version. 100 for....we making movies over here. One time use. No subscription. Toonboom is 1000000x better than all of these but it is Expensive. I can only dream to have it. I dont understand your comment. You cant have tried to search too hard if you think procreate dreams is more accessible than software that is the same price or heck FREE. And even used by big time animation bosses Ghibli, nickolodeon and disney.....😅😅😅😅😅
Any other D students lost yet? I'm sure I'll find a way to animate dreams completely incorrect as usual but I would love to actually understand and apply exactly the way I'm taught for once.
I loved this video! Okay I like the idea of a complete course. I learned a lot from this video but it went a little fast in some places. Like I couldn’t always follow where you were clicking. My question is, do you slow the steps down and show more detail as to where you are clicking so we slow learners can follow along? Are there sample lessons to preview? Thanks
The crash course is really perfect. I have more time, not trying to keep it fast paced for youtube and the best part its being built out over the coming weeks/months. So the sooner you join the more input you can give. This is a sample lesson ☺️. And right now 50% off during blackfriday
Why are you putting a picture of person running as a main picture for the video if you are Not going to show how to anime this?! Bait and switch. If this is how you are going to show your work, I worry what kind of content you are going to teach in your actual course.
Yeah but this dude explains all in a perfect-simple way. I want to learn why I can’t import videos with transparent background , animations that I made in procreate exported in HEvC and animations I created in dreams with transparent background option.
@@GothicRabbit it’s so obvious. They even all did it in the same order. They were emailed some list of things to touch on and nobody criticized the thing even though it’s lacking about 1000 functions the old program had
Hey Stefan thanks so much for the tutorial! I have a question tho! after grouping the fanta object ( i think i grouped it twice) and placing the chips can on top, the movement animation did applied to the second object but the rotation didnt! do you know why that can happen? if so, can i solve it after animating it or do i have to start over? it would be of great help if you could answer! thanks so much!
This is a good tutorial, but I wish I would have been shown what the end result he was trying to accomplish and then back out to show how he did it. As it is, he’s just showing a bunch of tools without really explaining WHY we are doing it.
I’m still struggling with basic stuff about this software, I’ve animated a whole music video using procreate and Final Cut using green screening, I was hoping I would be able to not have to bounce things to my IMac, but could actually do a similar thing with Dreams, but I really can’t work it out. Procreate is so logical and simple, dreams doesn’t feel the same.
Is there a special swtting for the side to pop up with the photos? I cant seem to get it to work :/ I also cannot seem to get out of the flip book area like you do either?
You should be able to swipe in the window by moving your finger from outside the screen inwards. Let me know if that works. To open the flipbook, be sure to have tapped on the draw button first. You‘ll know when the entire stage turns into your background color. Also make sure to be on an empty place in your track. 👍🏻🥳
I can’t get the side pop up for the photos either… tried swiping outside the screen inwards several different ways, but no go. My iPad Pro has been having trouble updating to 17 iOS, so I’m wondering if iOS 16 is the problem - trying to offload apps and attempt another software update to see if 17 upgrade will resolve the issue.
I don’t know why but I can’t rotate things. They just get bigger or smaller. I changed the anchor point and I try to do it on the corners but it won’t work…
Can you make custom selections like you would with the little cursor tool in procreate? I’m trying to animate a full character in motion and I tend to want to just make custom selections of each leg, arm, etc. and move them into position
This looks sooo good can you also save everything as single frames? Because I am studying game design and In the engine I have to have the frames and make the animation in the engine… I’m not rlly sure how to import it as a video
yes you can , when you go to export, you choose the "Frames as Images: option instead of "video" like he showed. this will export the entire movie as an image sequence that you can use in the engine
Set a keyframe and tap on the object. 4 nodes should appear on each corner. tap on one corner node and you should see a curved element. Drag it and rotate
Great tutorial!! Just one guestion in 4:44 there is how to select all layers at once but can u do it without apple pencil too?? Or of not can u sekect them any other way??
I’m drawing frame by frame. Is there an easier way to change each frame from 1’s to 2’s without moving each frame individually? Most animation apps, all you have to do is slide the desired frame and it moves all the other frames to the right. The way Procreate dreams does it is tedious. Also there’s no lasso tool 🫤
@@StefanKunz thank you. I figured it out. You have to grab the edge of the frame, and then place your other finger down while sliding to the left or right. You can do with multiple frames too
@@dplj4428 no problem. Duplicate copies the frame and places it right beside the previous frame. It’s just a faster way of copying and pasting. The copy feature is usually used when you want to place or paste in a specific location on your timeline
Hey thanks for this great tutorial am facing difficulty with something tho I spent a lot of time but my rotation part isn’t as smooth as yours what I am trying to say is in your animation it’s like as it is about to stop the rotation happens and it feels so smooth in mine it’s not like that I tried a lot like the transitions timing everything but it’s not like yours someone help me out
Guys I need your help, I dont know how to slow down my animation. Everytime I watch a video it shows the animation going super slow while when I press play it keeps going super fast. I dont know how to change it please help 😭
Realy? Omg i will use this is thii true. Is so satysfaing to draw for me even without any skills. Can u tell me one things which i cannot find before i buy this soft. How long this footage can be, and what format Dream can use. Thank U Stefan@@StefanKunz
It’s outside of the app. He already had it ready for the video. You go into photos app and select the 3 dots at the top of your screen, then you select ‘slide over’
Thank you for this! When I import the Pringle’s can into the group, the can moves in just like the bottle, but the tilt didn’t translate. What am I missing?
You need a group within a group. On the top level you‘ll do the slide. And inside the group (2nd group) you add just the tilt. And dont forget to move the anchor point.
Guys, when I import layered graphic from Procreate to Procreate Dreams it's imported as flat, all the layers are lost :( I saw in other videos that you can import layered file and work on layers in draw mode but it doesn't happen like that in my app, is this some kind of bug?
Alex Grigg from Animation for Anyone helped me! I had PSD as preffered file format in Procreate so when importing Procreate Dreams saw imports as PSD and couldnt read the layers, when you change preferred file type to Procreate in options, now whey you import all the layers are there :)@@janetcolornice
You do a lot of things by just moving around your pen and saying “this…” and “this…” w/o really explaining what you are doing as you are doing it. For first time viewers, which I presume is your audience, viz., people trying to learn PDreams, it would be helpful if you slow down a little, and vis-a-vis all those little in between (often repeated) steps, if you would just simply narrate them with an explaination of what you are clicking on and the purpose, it would help reinforce that motion (which is already second nature to you). Otherwise, it’s just watching you move your Apple Pencil quickly around and guessing what you are doing.
It is a lot. That’s wny i’m going slow. I’ll probably see what i can do with couple tracks, stick figures or shapes until I learn the tap up menus and gestures.
You aren’t supposed to know any of this. Its a new app. Need to learn how it works. Either by yourself, with videos here and there on youtube or a crash course where its nicely laid out
Would you make a tutorial on masking in Dreams? I’d like to know how to add a mask so I can animate an object to fall down into a box. Example a Santa going down a chimney. Will you be covering masking in your class?
3:08 The biggest problem with this video and others promoting procreate dreams is you are talking up the product and skipping over the fact you cannot truly animate within procreate dreams. The brushes and layers in drawing mode do not function as effectively or at the same level in Procreate Dreams which is why you are having to import images.
They work differently. Trust me, i‘ve been playing around with dreams since July and worked on a commission for them. Through it i learned a lot. Yes it’s not the same a in procreate but I don’t use layers anymore but tracks which are sooo much better. Like you would in aftereffects too. Think of it like a hybrid of ae and procreate
You need work on your tutorials, there's some great stuff here but you say "I can tap this. " Or "you can tap this over here" yet you don't explain what it is your adjusting. There is mention of stuff but you don't seem to really have a script for the order of this tutorial or the way you speak is all over the place mentioning things when you remember they are important. I think you need to create a better Point A to Point B tutorial or way of doing tutorials because for me this was a waste of time.
@@StefanKunz I think if you have a clear plan about the points you want to talk about, in which order your going to talk about them in relation to how you start your tutorial to ending , you'll have less time trying to come up with an explanation for the tool and steps you take and won't have to jump around trying to do things to fix or catch up to where you want to be talking about.
I'm finding this program not to be very intuitive and kind of missing a lot of things that procreate has\\ I can do a better animation in procreate than I can with procreate dreams.
It's disappointing that you used a runner animation for your thumbnail instead of what you actually teach...a fanta bottle. I was very happy when i saw the runner girl...where is that runner girl tutorial?
yes you can. simply tap and hold on the current frame until the frame options come up and you can select copy. then go to any other page and tap and hold again and this time select paste
Nice tutorial, can you tell me more about that importing of fanta bottle from photos to the dream? Is this feature specific to higher model apple tablet/pencil or specific feature of something else like dreams and procreate illustration app? I remove the white part by selection tool in procreate app and this is really time taking so i was curious to know that trick. It would be a great time saver.
Its an newet iOS feature called lift subject. You should be able to do it on your iphone too. Try it out. But don’t tap and hold on anything with text. And the results are not perfect. And the import is really just drag and drop.
@@StefanKunzjust starting, how easy is it to scale down in size multiple frames (drawings) I’m trying a walk cycle and I need him smaller. Best teaching video I come across so far. Many thanks.
