@@theindiemusiclab thank you! I'm on here nearly everyday lol. I'm mostly a hiphop artist and producer but I've using your tips to blend them into hiphop
Big thanks, love your content. i did enjoy a lot your advice on how to sing to get this kind of vocal effect. I have never seen any other content creator enlighting that part of the process;;. and there is not much about indie folk either.
I didn’t even realize that this is what this genre was called, but as soon as I heard novo amor, I was so excited! Can’t wait to try out some of these things!
Love this! Would love for u to do an episode on the band “Real Estate”, specifically songs produced on their album Atlas. I know there’s a lot of phaser effects on the guitars and their original guitarist Matt Mondine is a epic looper producer but need more specifics on vocals, mixing
Thank you SO much for making a video on this genre, I think it was Spotify that named this genre "alt-z" (or it's a sub-genre of this type of music) and i can't tell you how many times I've tried to find videos on how to produce and arrange these, thank you for making this!
Hi Marcus, these vocals sound so superb. Could you possibly make a video where you actually record them, like mic, which interface, signal chain, room treatment? Cheers
Thank you! Also thank you for the request. I will certainly look into expounding on that topic soon. Just a spoiler though: i recorded that vocal while breaking about 10 rules and it still turned out good. Point being, the quality of the vocal take before it ever touches the mic is by far the most important factor.
Great video as always. Any chance you could do a video on making a song like Michigan by the Milk Carton Kids? It's sort of indie and beautiful, but I think quite different from this.... cheers.
I’m sure you could find an alternative for perhaps half the cost of Omnisphere, although I haven’t been very up to date on alternative ever since I bought Omnisphere a few years back. First place to look is make sure you know what comes stock with your DAW cause you might have some hidden gems, and then beyond that, you might want to check out some of Arturia’s software esp for authentic analog synth sounds.
Hey Thomas, so even though that particular pad sound does have a bit of texture & atmosphere, it still has enough tonality to where I just follow the chord progression of the song. Hope that answers your question!
