Tightrope is inspired by his desi side. Desi means relative to subcontinential countries like India or Pakistan. Cuz he's half Pakistani and grew up with Bollywood (Indian film industry) movies or music and Pakistani old Qawwalis, he has that feel in his music and vocal styles that makes him stand out from the other West singers. For example, the runs that he does when he's singing live. I'm talking bout one of those runs like 'I give everything that I got from your Loooooo-uhaAaAaaaauve (love)' 😂😂 I know i can't sing for shit but even I can do those runs easily cuz that's our style of music and we grew up listening to that 😂 The 'reverse' lyrics were actually urdu lyrics from an old bollywood song 'Chaudwien ka Chaand' and the whole song kinda has the same melody of it. The writer of this song told us that Z added the 'something told me it was you' part and that's the most desi part in it after the urdu lyrics ofc. Thats why it feels different to y'all and its most of y'all's favourite cuz its a completely new and different style for you guys. You should react to his cover of Allah Duhai hai, a bollywood song. He killed that with his vocals. It got more views than the original song and yt (or the production team for the actual song ) had to remove it thru copyright twice. 🙄 His pronounciation has improved a lot since and us desis want him to do more stuff like that so bad!
@@verena2345 awwh yay im glad this helped!! I kinda wanna know each one of the non desi fans opinions like how they feel when he mixes up languages or puts desi influences in? Or like did y'all like the cover he posted of Allah Duhai Hai?
You can tell he does this because he wants to express himself. He does it because he’s passionate about his music. He doesn’t do it for the money and the fame, or the awards he does does it so other people can relate. It’s just so humble.
actually multiple tracks deserves to be a single. my top 3 are: 1 tightrope/outside/sweat/river road 2 connexion/calamity/better/vibez/windowsill 3 when love's around/unfuckwitable
@@pit.y0ka yes it's so sad that people are missing this masterpiece. by far, this is my most favourite album by him. it's just so chill but sexy and heartbreaking at the same time 💔🤘🖤
Sweat is easily my favorite song on the album. He should 100% push that as a single and promote the he’ll out of it. I know he doesn’t really promote his music and perform, but do something for the song, it’s a gem!
@@ZainabAlTaee hopefully. This album definitely deserves the promotion, if he does it. I guess I’m a pandemic, the best part of it is you get to keep making music to pass the time lol
@ꋪꀤꏳꂦ ꏳꀍꂦᖘᖘꍏꀍ 401ꉧ its the 3rd single off the album it better be one. but sweat would actually be an instant hit and outside would grow on people too had it been made a single. If khalid can make hits with songs like saturday night, zayn could make it with outside too.
Tightrope is heavily influenced by desi music. And the "reversed" part is actually him singing in a language called Hindi or Urdu. It's sampled it from an old Bollywood song from the 60s called Chaudvin ka Chand, which means the moon on the 14th day of the month, i.e. a full moon. The lyrics he's singing roughly translate to "Are you the full moon, or the sun? Whatever you are, I swear to God, you are beyond compare!" I'll try to romanize it for you: "chaudveen kaa chaand ho ya aaftaab ho? Jo bhi ho, khudaa ki kasam, laajavaab ho." Your videos are amazing btw, much love! X
I think the first part is like poetry, he has mentioned that he likes writing and reading poems, I also think he is a thoughtful writer. He writes a lot and a very clever one too. And every one of these songs I believe has a meaning to it.
@@thomasalexandra647alexandr4 Dude. You've been going around everywhere commenting that it's Urdu. OP only mentioned that it's an Indian language. India here refers to the country. And both Hindi as well as Urdu are Indian languages. So yeah thanks for informing us about our own culture 🙂🙏🏼
@@hieronymousblack3364 first, I'm not a directioner, 2nd he obviously did it to not sound corny, 3rd no directioner would get pressed about that it isn't even a bad comment you're weird.
@@BCarolinaMaya yeah, they would. They take the slightest things and always twist them out of proportion. Their reputation precedes them. And they boast about it. So I'm speaking facts. Sorry if I mis-identified you, though. Just stating facts. He didn't mean anything bad by it. I know that. But he knows how they get. Everyone does.
@@hieronymousblack3364 I mean, not even just directioners. It's a fan culture thing at this point. Every major fanbase these days are like that (I don't want to call out names but I'm sure you can think of others).
i wish zayn made more songs like sweat, his voice is just MADE for dark/sexy songs (like wRoNg and TiO) he needs to make an entire album like that and collab with the weeknd 😫
Nobody is Listening is the kind of album where I can't place my favorite on. Whenever I open my streaming app and the album starts to play, I don't care which song is playing. Windowsill's playing, "Oh this one's good." River Road's playing, "Oh, I love the lyrics in this!" And etc. Anyway, nothing skipable. And I'm never not surprised by myself cause I don't listen to R&B but Zayn.
Love this reaction. I feel like Zayn is Ariana's male counter part they started on pop and can make perfect pop music because they got the vocal talent but their true love is r&b music & they are musical geniuses so gifted that can pull off any harmony & ride any beat. This is the reason I've been obsessed for the longest craving for a collab between them. They could make such a masterpiece together.
In the tightrope where you confused it's not the reverse it's a language he is singing called Urdu from Pakistan , he has the connection with this cuz of his parents from Pakistan 🇵🇰
"Sweat" has a very "In the Air Tonight"2021 underlying feel about it...the darker, moody sound, the 808 break, the 80's synth. I agree though, it needed a real drum in there, too. *chef's kiss* 💋
If you look up the meaning behind calamity, and behind this whole album it’s actually very meaningful and breaks my heart. Its about him feeling so alone in the band and that nobody was listening to what he was trying to give off.
It can be like that but be released 2 more album before...and if he felt lonely or alone in the band ..it could be idea behind his first album...why do you think.he released it now.
I think it’s talking more about the depression he seems to have dealt with/is dealing with. I think the reason he’s out of the public eye by choice is bc he is dealing with these issues that he rather go through in private, which adds to his feelings of loneliness
What stands out to my in zayn's vocals is all the Indian influences. All his vocal takes, the style is inspired by Indian/pakistani music. He even sampled a popular old school bollywood song called "chaudhvi ka chaand" for tightrope
Please react to Dusk Till Dawn by ZAYN ft Sia. It has that big chorus moment and it was produced by the same person that did the song Sweat on this album. I bet you’ll like it
What I love about Zayn is he always puts quality over quantity. He could've collabed with more known artists in this album but he chose more underrated but extremely talented artist. Other than this he doesn't really care if his work is on the charts or not because he knows he is putting out something he loves & those who truly love music will actually appreciate it
@@meli6228 his Instagram stories and connexions has been added to big playlists on spotify. And in his Instagram live yesterday he said 'new video soon'.
@@meli6228 there was a promotional poster of Nobody Is Listening in a city that said "Featuring Better, Vibez and Connexion" and Zayn hinted about Connexion being the next single in his Instagram Live too so that's how everyone knows. but I REALLY want sweat
Zayn made a new genre ,it is really different and people who have grown up listening to ghazals and bollywood music can really point out the difference because he brings in those style along with western sounds and mixes them so well. It's like a new genre.
He sing in Urdu language in Tightrope and he singing famous bollywood classic song line: " Are you the full moon, or the sun? Whatever you are, I swear to God, you are beyond compare! "
The tightrope parts is zayn singing in Urdu, he sampled a song by Mohammed Rafi called 'Chaudhvin Ka Chand' the English lyrics translate to Are you the full moon or the sun? Whatever you are, I swear to God, you are beyond compare
The language he sung in the song is HINDI not URDU as he himself confirmed in an interview, so please don’t give wrong information. For proof, go through the link and listen by yourself: m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HbSPAlv4bLY.html
Its true. Its by far Zayn's best album to date. Each song has unique sound and a personality of its own. Its a joy - like hearing a story teller involving you deeper and deeper into their wonderful jorney of a fairytale...
I‘m sometimes not the kind of person who likes to listen to a new album song by song completely, I normally just skip the songs to see if I like some, but watching this video and kinda listen to it with you, was really cool! I really like your vibe and how you let your thoughts out...I mean you‘re a producer but still, I really enjoy it! And I‘m definitely going to listen to zayns album again 🌟
So happy someone finally made the connection (connexion lol) with Phil Collins on Sweat!! Litterally the first thing I thought when listening to Sweat for the first time was In the air tonight by Phil Collins. I've watched tons of reactions and you're the first one I hear referencing to it :)
Yes you are right..he has executive producing credits on few of the songs on this album And this album tops the other two He sounds so beautiful like always And nice reaction 😊😅
I was waiting for this to see you fall in love with sweat and the drums... I got it I agree it should be a single I am still hoping It will be a super hit come on Zayn
Hey Blake So, the lyric that you felt was in reverse, was actually a hindi lyric from a famous old song in India 'Chaudhvin ka Chand'. Basically, by singing that lyric, he was going to back to his roots. And seriously, singers need to sign Blake as their producer, he has just so much potential and will 100% produce a hit for the person, he is producing for. !
the whole album is gorgeous, sweat personally i think should have been the lead single over vibez, but i love vibez too! and outside and tightrope are just so pretty and personal, the whole album is amazing
Blake at 20:12 you said you would like see him with some big hip hop artists . So there's this song 'BACK TO SLEEP' (remix) of Chris Brown ft.Zayn & Usher , I hope you check it out.
This reaction was really great. Love how you enjoy the music and try to connect to the artist’s emotions. Zayn has those vibes which makes him different than others. React to Jaden, his music is very underrated like Ninety, Cabin Fever, Deep End. The guy is genius.
