Okay so here’s my thought. Each person represents a different part of her life. One saves her, one causes grief, another leads her down a dark road. Etc. Thats why whenever she wakes up she realizes that the internal struggles within are actually real and personified at the same time.

Look, art is all about our own unique interpretations and what we take from it. So what you got from it is valid and I think that is a good theory. What I got from it was her mental health crashed again and in the process she caused pain to herself and everyone around her. That’s why when she asks ‘did anyone die’ it’s almost like she wasn’t in control and once she regains her natural consciousness she tries to put back together the pieces. It’s a constant battle with her mental health. All of the symbols and signs in the video are things strung from the crash scene (the last things she saw before the crash) but she remembers them in an artistic way because it’s easier that way. Her mind enters a manic state. Anyway, thanks for the reaction Blake you are definitely the coolest person on here that does these type of videos. Keep it up.
Entire video explanation 1) Black Horseman in a White Desert - This signifies the poster for New Mexico Gaga saw before the accident. He may also signify Death or her body luring her deeper in her mind. 2) The Red Mask - This is the blood from the accident. 3) Bike with Pomegranates - The first real element in Gaga's vision. Most probably the victim of the collision. Pomegranates simultaneously signify life and death. 4) The Red Anklet - Gaga's broken foot in real life. 5) Walking to the White Chapel - This is the movie poster Gaga saw. This can also signify the deepest recesses of her mind, protecting her from trauma. 6) Pillow Man - Another victim of the accident who crashed on his steering wheel. 7) Black Girl in Blue - The first spectator to the accident. Most likely the one who called 911. 8) Two Yellow Men Holding a Door - These are two firemen holding the car door to get Gaga out of the mangled vehicle. Their hats have '911' written on them in roman numerals. The yellow men were blindfolded because the firemen wore black goggles. 9) Woman Holding a White Body - A woman holding a victim who got hit by the car. The white body even has red lace signifying blood. 10) Additional Three People in Blue - Additional spectators filming the whole thing. 11) Yellow Man Mixing a Cauldron - This is a fireman and a smoking car wreckage. 12) The Latin Guy in Black and the Black Mary in White - These are the paramedics trying to save Gaga's life. 13) The Spinning Umbrella - The paramedics descending via a helicopter. 14) The Purse with the Picture of the Doll - This signifies the pills that would have made her stable. Did she cause the accident? 15) The Latin Guy Strangling the White Mummy - The paramedic was checking for a pulse. 16) The Black Mary Covering the Pillow Man with a Sheet - This was the paramedic covering the victim with a thermal blanket. 17) A Man with Dog Ears whose Face is Being Covered by the Latin Man - The paramedic giving oxygen to one of the victims. 18) The Black Mary Flashing a Mirror on Gaga - The paramedic was flashing her flashlight on Gaga's pupil's looking for consciousness. They even have the bird sign in their hats. 25) The Blue Streamers Waving in the Wind - This was the fire hydrant spewing water. 26) The Peacock - This represented Armenia in the Armenian Film Festival signage. 27) The Black Mary Holding a Snake - This is the snake in the cross logo of the paramedics. 28) Gaga in Yellow Spasming - This is Gaga's body rejecting the medication/treatment. 29) The Mural - This was the scene of what really happened. Gaga is now getting closer to surfacing to reality. 30) The Latin Guy Touching Her Heart Area - The paramedic giving her heart pumps and CPR. 31) Gaga in Black Floral Outfit - This is Gaga being put in a full-body brace. The curtain also might have fallen in the background to signify her impending death, the body bag. This is why, as a last-ditch effort, the paramedics used the defibrillator. 32) The Box - This is the defibrillator. 33) The Virgin Sacrifice - As dream world and real world collide, the vision concludes in a terrifying sacrificial scene as the pain comes rushing in. It's interesting that the knife that kills her in the dream world is the current of electricity that brings her to life in the real world. 34) 'I didn't have my pills!' - This suggests that she caused the accident because she wasn't stable because she did not have her medication. 35) LG Advertisement - 'Life is good.' Ironic, isn't it?
One comment, though, don't you think the "museum scene" with lady gaga in the black body suit symbolized her FLATLINING? There's a yellow tape at the back that can only be seen with the black curtain up that disappears right before the defibrillation scene. I've always wondered what that scene meant and I think it was her basically being "dead"/wrapped in black and flowers, but was resuscitated.
You forgot this detail. Gaga was dressed as a lung while the latin/arab guy is making the mouth to mouth rescucitation. Also, before that, he gripped Gaga's foot with 2 hands. This is him setting up the torniquet.

okay just to clarify, I understood the concept of the video, the accident, the foreshadow through symbolism, basic plot, I just think there's more to it than that. Like why, specifically, did she choose those things to represent what actually happened in the accident. For example, the man on the horse was from the poster, but why did she choose to have the poster feature him looking like he did in the first place? if that makes sense hahaha

This song is actually about an antipsychotic medication named olanzapine that saved her life in relation to mental illness (my biggest enemy is me, pop a 911) when she was rushed to the E.R due to a psychotic break. The same thing happened to me and I had to be put on the same exact medication, she stated how her whole body went numb, she could do nothing but scream, it’s terrifying and nobody should ever have to experience a psychotic break, it is absolutely horrifying and indescribable when you’re completely ripped from reality, feeling like you’re trapped in an endless void, you feel like everything is out to hurt or kill you, becoming completely and absolutely emotionally blunted unable to express any feelings (I can’t see me cry this is the end) this is also why she portrays a robotic tone in her voice, completely dissociated from reality, unable to come to terms with anything around you, completely lost. There is truly nothing more traumatic than a psychotic break. Recovery time is different for everyone, it can take as little as 1 week to over a year. I am just happy I survived and am still alive to inform people and share my experience about this grave and perilous state of mind, to let people know how crucial mental health actually is.
911 is easily THE best music video released in 2020....the amount of extravagant and elegance in the production. Also, the storyline is amazing. The way she correlates everything and the the details are mesmerising

I got the same interpretation when I first heard the song on the album, but not from the video. Fun Tonight, 911, and Plastic Doll all gave me vibes of her struggling with her persona “Lady Gaga,” and like you said always trying to one up herself. Her biggest enemy is Lady Gaga. She has this expectation to release hit after hit, only making dance music. In one of her latest interviews, she talks about going through depression and hating her piano for making her Lady Gaga, but in the end she found a way to love herself again.
Gaga has always referenced the Psyche in her music videos. Marry the night she talks about her brain filling in the ‘ugly holes’ in her memories. I think this video just goes into it a bit more.
The explaining od the video : She was under the influence of the pills and she had an accident on the bike. During the video she was hallucinating because her brain transformed various images and people around her. She had red bracelet on her feet which represents a wound on her feet. The woman with mummy is woman with her dead boyfriend. The guy who was hitting his head on the pillow is the guy in the car with his head on the airbag. Woman with red cross and guy with long hair are a pair of medics that try to rescue her.

The video is actually a dream sequence of the accident that you see at the end of the video Watch it again and you'll see. The guy banging his head on the pillow is the guy in the car against the airbag. The lady holding the body cast is the lady holding a dead person crying. The guy getting the oxygen mask is well... The guy getting the oxygen mask. This is just the start of the parallels.
Just my thought, 911 is about her anti psychotic medicine and how she feels without them and how they became her 911 and helped them In the video, her drifting of to death seems like a good thing and returning back to life is horrible While in reality it's opposite Maybe, it's about how without the pills one can have suicidal thoughts and try to get away from the world, how these hallucinations can affect someone
Someone mentioned that the beginning scene is inspired by Alejandro Jodorowsky. I looked him up and it was art for sure, but disturbing. But I think that was the point.
If you want an amazing album to react to, I recommend The Click (Deluxe) or Neotheater by AJR. They are such a good band and their songs have such good production! Keep up the good videos and at least consider it please!!!
I agree with the personas. Her costumes represented The Fame era, then it moved on to her era with Tony Bennett (white gloves), her religious spin with Born This Way with the green dress and half-halo attempting to ascend somewhere peaceful away from her depression/addiction to medicine. The stretcher behind that colorful skin tight bodysuit representing her Artpop era not being as successful as she wanted it to be. Then lastly her Born This Way look again when she is revived by the paramedics (blue tinted, long hair). It's a great video!
Well actually, you see it at the very end of the clip, she had an accident and broke her ankle (hence the red ankle bracelet) and has a concussion (hence the red mask). The guy bumping his head on the pillow was in his car and severed his head on the stirring wheal, the woman with the mummy is mourning her dead friend, the guys in blue are just passers by, they’re watching the whole scene, in the reality. And finally the black woman in white dress is the emergency and the beefy guy is a firefighter, and the beginning they appear to come down with an umbrella referring to a siren. So I think she’s half dead/conscious and this whole video is the final vision she has of the reality before she’s brought back to life
Wow I just noticed. When the man in the black is pulling Gaga’s leg with the rope then pulls her down we get a glimpse of Gaga being brought back to life in the real world. Damn I never noticed that. it’s on 4:15 but you have to slow it down Edit: nice catching on the ring but she also references Artpop earlier where we see the three silver balls. I think she’s hinting at something

Watched his reaction, and it was like mine hahah, i watched the film (knew of it because Madonna referenced it too in her "Bedtime Story" music video) so i caught the references (setting, placement, movement and style of characters within the frame are the direct references), and then the actual reference of the poster of "Colour of Pomegranates" at the end. Marvelous film. This is how pop (a 911) must be done.
The genius of this music video is that, the more I watch it, the better I understand the whole dream that Gaga is having before we jump back into reality. Her red veil around her dress represents blood (either her or of the victim), that Jesus guy putting a silver bowl in front of another person that represents an oxygen mask, etc.

I think the following: Lady Gaga is a catholic. All the representations and even her “dying “ (when she is green) is represented in a part of a wall. In Mexico, almost since the colony, penitents that got saved by god (miracles) or a sick loved one that got saved in the same way, painted (until these days) the scene and put it in the Guadalupe basilica. Some are creepy and some just really bad done. In the video you see almost the same thing and in the end, you see Gaga after an accident, saved by the people in her kinda hallucination. Don’t know but believe me, the painting could be put up in the basilica as a thank you to the Virgin Mary Guadalupe or God or both. This is a catholic MEXICAN tradition so other Catholics around the world are obligated to know. Or maybe you know since the painter Frida Kahlo (Mexican too) used these as inspiration for many of her paintings
The Color of Pomegranates. At least one layer of explanation for a lot of symbolic references. Look at movie stills. Lots of subtext. Obviously a favorite of LG’s. Other than that, analyze your hearts out. Agree, with Chromatica 3 coming in at the end, would not be surprised at a follow up.
