tbh, in other reaction kpop youtuber, i would skip the whole talking but yours are like something i would wait and take a lot of focus to. i appreciate all of your reviews and i really do like this song. i like how seventeen is really painting up their music about them like it's screaming about their identity. the fact that they have 3 units is so clever. this song is depressing but it is nice to hear because it's pleasingly dark (lol idk what im rambling but yeah)

When I saw the ropes, some of them are unravelling, same with Mingyu's sweater, so I saw it as being tied down but also unravelling, or falling apart and being on your last thread.

And actually you get at the point with Mingyu and Mingyu's voice. We all are shocked so much with Mingyu. The point it's that his vocal it's not so good and as you said you can feel his voice about to break it but it doesn't and sounds so goob with this song. No, I can't get over this.

The moment I saw the MV, I had a feeling that each member was rapping about trauma in their own way. And the fact they focused on symbolism in the video made it more personal in my opinion. And I was looking forward to this unit the most, and it lived up to my expectations!

Seventeen excels at the niche, which is being self-producing idols. They know what they want, they always deliver and never disappoints... WHICH IS WHY ANSWERING WHICH UNIT I'M LOOKING FORWARD THE MOST IS HARD?? I was super excited with the leader unit AND BY GOD DID SOONYOUNG RIP ME TO SHREDS. I'm not a hiphop fan, but I love Trauma, the emotional depth of this is unfathomable. It still had the unique Hiphop Team color, but didn't fail to express the message of the Trauma. Mingyu sang a part of Habitual Words on the concert I attended and I was so shocked. Honestly tho, it even sounds better than his singing part in Trauma. Since then, I've waited for a song where mingyu is singing People should stop viewing Mingyu as only a visul. I mean he is, obviously, but he's way more than just that.

Trauma is such a deep song. I love how the Hip Hop Team expressed this so emotionally. I have always loved Wonwoo's voice. His deep emotional voice.

If you told me to rank the HHU, mine would go something like this ; VN > SC > WW > MG I agree with you about MG being their weakest rapper, but I've always loved his flow. The way he conveys his message, the way he raps is different from the others. The way he raps is very addictive and I've noticed that in most songs that he raps in, it's always so addictive and just sticks to you. For example, his line in Check In, the iconic " OH yeah." and his line in "Un Haeng Il Chi" the way he just slides in never fails to amaze me no matter how many times I listen to it. His line in Crazy In Love is also addictive but one of the best has got to be his lines in Fronting & Mansae (HHU) I'm speaking this from a totally unbiased opinion because despite my UN, I'm a Wonwoo bias lol. To me, WW's and SC's is similar so it's nothing much to me. (still great nonetheless) but MG's just has this way of delivering his raps that makes it stuck to your head, and his voice just makes it 100 times addictive.

I really liked to hear you discuss about set design and the symbolism. What impressed me the most honestly was the seemless transition in Wonwoo's part. At one point he's singing low, then finds himself in a duet with himself (higher), and continues on his second self (the higher one). I wonder how they can do this live. I'm not a fan of this kind of song, I prefer 기대 (Lean on me) and Check In. But I really liked the meaning of the lyrics when I looked them up. A heavy topic but very well done. It doesn't feel cheap or pandering.

I felt as if Mingyu was Trauma personified because the ropes and himself are connected to the other members. So he could be just Trauma itself and he is saying he himself is making them sick and saying what the members are thinking. That their trauma is breaking them. Edit: Okay so after revealing the making of the video for Trauma, Mingyu stated that he is someone who can't escape their trauma, so it's something that is repeatedly brought back up. Vernon says that his trauma has something to do with loneliness so through performance he gains attention so that he feels comforted. Wonwoo stated that the actual trauma does not matter and that he is already traumatized (hinting that the other members have only just experienced trauma??) and the only escape is through music. S.Coups only stated that each room is very well fitted to the themes of each member, so it's probably correct to assume his has to do with a relationship.

I really liked the Trauma MV and all the symbolism used without being overly dramatic and nothing was out of place! And yes Vernon's rap was amazing gosh!! That kid swags hardcore! Yup I just used swag as a verb 😆 that's how talented Vernon is!! Thanks for your analysis it's always interesting to hear about your observations and theories!! 😊

I was definitely looking forward to HHU the most. I wasn't really into rap and hip hop until I started stanning Seventeen and that's because I realized how well done the songs were. Vernon and Wonwoo are my favorite lyricists but I love the passion they put into each performance. There isn't a set choreography per se, but everything looks well coordinated and I really enjoy that. All Seventeen songs are well done, but for my personal taste, I love the stories HHU tells with their lyrics.

I love PD rambling... and how he just segues to Jeonghan every now and then... and how he fangirls over Seventeen.

I love Vernon too♡♡ and his flow is amazing. The whole hip hop team man😍😍 then the dancers and singers. Seventeen is my bias.

Even though you're more into the film making process than the music itself, you bring up a good point about Vernon having the best flow and you can really feel his depth. Don't get me wrong the song is fantastic but I feel like his beginning was so strong that everything after it kind of melts away and while S Coups and Wonwoo have good rapping their tones seem a lot more linear and flat in comparison. I'd love to see them approach a song with a trajectory like Geulssae where Wonwoo's dramatic deep tones gracefully open the song, and then finish off with Vern's power. Always looking forward to your videos! ♡

I actually like the minimalist approach to set design in these videos in that there is enough there to help tell the story and complement the song without becoming distracting like some music video do, I also think it takes some really good production to film something like My I which is essentially an empty room and make it so much about the performance that you never even notice, I love it!

Your views/reactions are on point as always that's why I always wait for yours to come out. This is the unit that I was looking forward the most not only because of Mingyu (He's my bias) but because they have the tendency to surprise the fans and this did not disappoint at all. Mingyu's singing almost made me cry due to the fact that we all know he always gets shy singing and he was singing here the whole time and killing it.

i don’t remember if you talked about this at all bc i was still shook by my boys while you were talking buuut i liked the fact that they used the hallway thingy you said because they all have separate trauma’s (and “boxes”) but they were able to open up to each other both literally and figuratively.

I'm into seventeen music (I'm a carat) for over a couple of months now and HHU ~ specially Vernon~ (+DK) that made want to hear more and more. I've always been into r&b and hip hop so no wonder why this is my fave unit. Vernon is definitely the best that's the reason he's the main rapper but I love the different styles of writing and their flows, it doesn't sound repetitive, they compliment each other. *What i love the most about this song is that it just perfectly show how deep meaningful and relatable HHU can be.* I loved how *trauma can make you feel different emotions*, like you can sing 'happily passionate' to the chorus ( like you said, enjoying sad songs) and then go mad, angry, sad, depressed. *The song itself is a wave of highs and lows of mood and emotions.* Mingyu really has step it up his interpretation on the song. *It begun* with such high level of emotions it's *like Mingyu is crying, not for help, but of relief, he can finally scream what he's been dealing with.* Then *Vernon shows up violently rapping* ( continuing that high level) *like he needs to rap that way as therapy and deal with the anger and pain so at the the end of his part he's only sad and he ask calmly 'is anybody listening this song?' It sets the perfect mood for Coups part which is almost a whisper, his part is so low and his deep voice gets you to an even deeper place.* So at this point of the song (and the wave) it's the lowest of emotion we get and then Mingyu's part came and make the song go histerical and high again. *I love how Wonwoo's part it the exactly opposite to Vernon's: it starts calmly, he rap slowly like he's thinking and dealing with what he's feeling and eventually the pain takes over and he starts to rap agressively with/againt himself (his conscious), he's emotions start to grow, it's more intense also perfectly setting the mood for Mingyu part.* I also loved how WW's part ends up asking for help. *The cherry on top of of it is the video and all the symbology attached to it.* *The song/video is beautifully written, produced and interpretated. HHU never fails to amaze me.*

I'm sorry, I got distracted by your collections of alcohol at the back 😂 Even as a Hosh trash, I'm obsessed with Trauma so so much. The music spoke to me, even when I didn't look up the lyrics, I just kind of "get" it. It was beautifully done and I could feel the pain from their trauma!! My opinion : 1. Mingyu's Trauma has ropes and treads all over him, literally everywhere! So it means he's being pulled back. Something has hold him back for so long, and the second chorus wih his face looking so traumatised(A+ acting right there) means it still haunts him to these days! 2. Vernon's trauma has something to do with his past. When I looked up the lyrics, I almost cried. We all know he home-schooled for years, and it seemed to have made him an introvert. The sand, to me, reminds me of sand clock(?). I don't know what it's called, but a bottle that has sand in it. It kinds of telling us how his time is slowly passing by. and MAY BE it also means everywhere, to him, that he looks, it's like a desert . May be he felt deserted. But I have no idea about the fan though. 3. Seungcheol's trauma definitely has something to do with his past love life. Just like you said, he was literally siting on the bed. And color of the bed was red, which represents passion. So it means he still has lots of passion towards that past. However, other than the bad, everything was bland... 4. Wonwoo's trauma, to me, is hollow. We all know he's an emo(lol) at heart. He seems to feel hollow inside. Like, he's alone, even when so many people around him. But that's just my opinion hahahaha. Btw, I also LOVE Vernon's flow; especially when he raps Eng and Kor back and forth. The second place, which is really close, is Wonwoo's. I love his dark rap, and how it gradually gets darker and darker as his verses go.

I love Seventeen but I am pretty new to them so I had no idea about these units so I love that they are putting these videos out and that I can learn about these units because then I can check out earlier stuff as well. I liked the hip hop unit better than Change Up but I also liked change Up so now I am curious to see the other 2 units to figure out which one I like the best. I have also noticed recently that a lot of Korean artists are going for simple MVs which I think is cool because they each have to be unique but the viewers can also just concentrate on the music that is playing. Also you were right with saying the transitions were amazing, I actually didn't notice that it was one long room the first time I watched it. So, I just stumbled upon ur reaction video literally last week, the video where u react to Change Up and I went and watch almost all your SVT reaction video. I really love the fact that you are a Carat, you know which one is who and how you could regconize them by their voices too! Some other reaction vid on youtube they say "oh I like svt" but then they can't even distinguish who is who, even the member they said was their bias 😒😒😒. And I also love how you interpret the video, like if the other reactors, they osnt much info you could get but from yours I could know some that I never realise. Overall YOU ARE AWESOME!!! I didnt like how the beat sounded with Seungcheol's or Wonwoo's raps (even tho I specifically liked their flows and voice). It isn't my favorite hip hop unit song but it is near the top.

Here's the thing, in my perspective, Change up's MV is one huge symbolism. That music video is talk how they have to balance everything 'cause they are svt's leaders. That's why there are a lot of scene of them sitting together and appearing in the others shots.
