You guys also missed that Mike said she was crying during the first show. During given up and a couple others causing her voice to crack. She was happy. She couldn’t believe where she was. She deserves our grace to let her improve and settle in. Her more recent shows sound bad ass.

Linkin Park has been setting up this collaboration with Riot for a while. It has been confirmed that this song is not only the worlds 2024 Esports championship anthem, but also on the Arcane soundtrack for Season 2 releasing in November... The same month LPs album is releasing. Also... Worlds Championship opening ceremonies are iconic, and LP has a gap in their tour, because they will be playing Live at the Worlds finals Nov 2, amongst other bands probably. Also there is a double meaning to this song. Heavy is the Crown is not only referring to the "Crown" that Emily has to overcome from Chester, but also the team showcased in the song is T1, the 4 time world championship team. They are defending their crown, and the EPIC moment where the guy is walking out, is Faker, the GOAT of Professional league of legends. There were doubts he wouldnt be able to maintain his position after 7 years of not getting a worlds championship, but Faker got it last year. That is what it is referring too. Also another parallel, Faker took 7 years to regain a worlds title, Linkin Park took 7 years to release a new album. As someone who is a fan of both sides, its incredible.

The Emptiness Machine as the first single makes sense due to it's genius structure, lyrics and transition to Emiliy. But there was never just ONE Linkin Park style, this is just a different one with all the Rap, also good.

I think there are two reasons they released The emptiness Machine first: 1. It's feels more like an introduction to Emily, since it has Mike's long melodic part in the beginning and it demonstrates how the two can harmonize well better than Heavy is the Crown 2. Heavy is the Crown was being released with the League of Legends marketing, which would draw attention away from LP and Emily themselves.

I encourage you both to watch LP in Hamburg. Emily sounds amazing! She’s grown far more comfortable with her role and she does Chester proud in a LOT of his songs. It’s night and day compared to their debut live performance. As one would expect honestly. The world sometimes needs to chill and empathise more. She’s a fan like you and me. She didn’t deserve the hate.

I personally love Emily's versions of the olds songs. As blasphemous as it may sound, I might even like "Waiting for the End" from her more over Chester's version. But even then, if you play some of the later concerts from Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London... She sounds much better. She slays most of the songs. Doesn't do the Given Up scream sure but once again let's remind ourselves that Chester didn't do it most of the time either. Songs like Faint, One Step Closer, Bleed it out, Keys to the Kingdom... she slays it all. Especially if you listen to Faint from the New York show. Just wanted to voice my opinion, it's alright if you disagree but I personally hope she keeps singing the old songs too. And great reaction!

What amazes me is that, this song was not written 2 days before the video, they knew what they were doing, and they KNEW the backlash they were gonna get because of Emily. K, I got something to say: Don't stop making videos, y'all. I watch a lot of reaction videos, both to movies and to music, and I've also been following the band's return pretty closely, lamenting the hate, digging into a lot of the cancelation attempts, etc. This is probably my favorite in a few years. The combination of genuine expertise, thoughtful commentary, interpersonal chemistry, great humor, and unabashed contrition in this video is 🔥 and I am *stunned* you have less than a hundred thousand subscribers, let alone less than a thousand. GTFO and keep sprinting, because your channel deserves to blow up.

I really don't understand why people want her to stop singing the old songs, I mean what the fuck are they suppose to play at the concerts? Just Emptiness Machine and Heavy is the Crown then tell everyone enjoy the rest of your evening thanks for coming out? People bought tickets to see Linkin Park play songs from their catalogue and you bet your ass they will bloody play all the crowd favorite songs along with the new tracks.

Just a point, Chester rarely did that full scream live. He usually broke it into two parts. And Emily has much better pitch live. Chester was never good live at maintaining proper pitch. And I am a huge Chester fan.

I think it's weird criticism to say that Linkin Park shouldn't be able to play their previous discography, when to me it's pretty clear that they are actively working towards starting well "from zero" and slow rolling out a brand new album with new songs that will take over their set list. I'm sure once they have two albums under their belt, they would only rarely pull out a legacy song, but until that point. They need to rely on that discography until they have enough time to restart the band's identity under Emily's voice. It's like criticising a band during their training era when the clearly want to separate themselves from those old songs. Anyways. I absolutely adore Emptiness Machine and Heavy Is The Crown. I cannot wait for their new album to release in November.

You might wanna check out more of Riot games music, this is not heir first great song. They did many styles, sometimes just one music, sometimes full albums (metal, a little k-pop one, some more hip-hop style) and as you mentioned the soundtrack of Arcane, their TV show, which does NOT only has Imagine Dragons ... Bae Miller, Woodkid, Rammsey, PVRIS ... so many great songs in the show ... Note : Riot got an anthem for their worlds championship of League of Legends every year for a while, also for the new season every year ... I doubt this will continue since they're going for 3 seasons / year from now on, so it's likely gonna be one song for all year and not every season ... my point is, they do often collaborate with big names in music, even if they also love to collaborate with their players (Chrissy Costanza is a player / streamer, Imagine Dragons are players, Mako ... anyways ... ) at this point, for anayone enjoying music, it is a company to keep an ear on. Note 2 : they released two metal albums in collab with big names of this genra, I cannot give a personnal opinion on those, since I'm not a big metal enjoyer but I do know two things : The one who got a video is amazing, it's named "Mortal Reminder" the band is Pentakill (LoL characters voiced by real life metal singers) Both Albums were very successful on iTunes metal section. But their K-pop group, K/DA was successful over all styles of music. Safe to say, it's a video games company that loves music and make it a big part of anything they do.

She got better and better with each live show. In comparison yeah, the live stream show was probably her weakest, but check out the Hamburg show, which includes this song's debut. She was excellent.

See if you can catch any of the performances from the Hamburg or London show, the improvement in performance is stark. Looking back nkw she must have been a bundle of nerves for the live stream

You get asked to join one of the biggest bands in the world, with one of the most hardcore fanbase. They don't tell the world they have a new singer, you're a female, you have to walk up on stage by yourself 5 min after the rest of the band and start singing a brand new song to an arena full of Linkin Park fans.....and it's live streamed to the whole world. Yeah, she is fucking badass.

I like the comparison to Metallica and their journey can, in my opinion, be compared to Linkin Parks. Basically going more and more mainstream over time. Came back after watching you for the first time with emptiness machines, enjoyed it again. Having listened to some of Emily's other band's songs, i'm also intrigued about what direction they could go after this first album, or even if there's a couple of new direction songs in this album too. She's certainly got a lot more range to show off that she hasn't tapped into with LP yet.

before watching, props to you for owning that stuff about chester, and being honest. i respect people like that. the vid does add to the slight different version of the song, because its a joint enterprise: official music video for both Linkin Park and League of Legends world championship 24. its probably been delayed because of the tie in with League of Legends. contract terms etc. EDIT: the gap for Faker's entrance isnt in the song i own. if you read the lyrics, they back up the band putting down the new singer. the lyrics work for League of Legends but also work for mike saying in the song the keyboard warriors have already lost (when the pen will win i.e. his writing) and theres no way back - the deal with emily is done. he even calls them out at one point that they dont like it but still keep listening! emily is screaming 'this is what you asked for' as much putting down her critics as for the game video and heavy is the crown is the burden of defending the championship AND 'i was given this crown and its heavy but its mine now, dont judge me if you couldnt do this yourself'.

I also like this song better than Emptiness Machine. But I don't think they could have released this first: it was made in partnership with League of Legends, so its release was subject to League's World Championship anthem schedule. If they wanted to release this first, it would mean pushing everything else back, and also their announcement of their reunion would be mixed with League's agenda. Just wouldn't have worked logistically at all.

This is the opinion that matters. When STP lost their singer, Chester joined. He said their message was important and still needed to continue to reach people. So Chester would have 100% approved.

Well, LP is back 1000% I'll say this from the first Live when I heard Emily I felt the same shiver that accompanied me 23 years ago when I was a 14-year-old kid hearing Hybrid Theory and Chester for the first time. I fell in love without limits.. And I saw that her voice on the first Live was stressed and therefore tight... now from moment to moment, concert to concert and single to single, Emili shows that I was not wrong in believing in her from the beginning :) LP 4ever

So you know how hard it is to step in and learn another singers songs? To pull them off 90% as good as the original singer, you have to be as good or better than them in some ways. 🤷

You need to listen to the London, Germany or Korea concert. She sounds sooo much better than the live show where I believe she was overwhelmed and very nervous. Its a totally different thing with the newer shows. The crowd in Korea were INSANE. The scream live she has done about 12-13 seconds. She has really been nailing the later performances for the full shows.

Her live performance of this is also amazing. You should 100% listen to it.

We also must remember that Mike Shinoda, Mr Han and Brad where the band co-founders and it’s Mike that writes all the lyrics he also composed all the music with the other 2 members that I mentioned before! So it’s their call and it’s their decision what to make with the band! The sound they create is very different and creative and if they chose Emily I believe in their choice! This song has two meanings for Emily. The first heavy is the crown. Heavy is the crown that Chester left behind. She knows this but Emily is worthy of Chester's crown. The second meaning when she screams THIS IS WHAT YOU ASKED FOR that scream is for all the haters out there giving the middle finger and saying I ain't no copycat.

Great Video guys! The reason this came second is because the song was made for Riot and their yearly "Worlds" Championship where all the great teams from all the regions face off. They always get a big artist/band to do the song :) and it's pretty much always a banger! They'll also do it live at the finals at the end of November with a big performance prepared by riot!

I was at the concert in Hamburg where they played that song first time live, and I can tell, that they also nailed that song in the live environment, Emily even did the long scream at same length without issues. The entire concert was really awesome, I‘ve never encountered such connection and spirit between band and audience before. Of course, rest in peace Chester, the band is doing a great job in not trying to replace him. During the entire concert you felt that he has still his place on stage, which gets filled with the spirit from the audience, while Emily co-exists and simply takes in a new role. Really looking forward into the bright future of Linkin Park. 10/10

I dig the way they've released these so far. So Emptiness Machine was the introduction to Emily, we start with Mike singing, only Mike, then boom! Emily comes in, and now we have our new leads together. It was a great introduction. This song is great for a second release for multiple reasons. First, it's for Worlds, a big League tournament so they were contractually obligated to release it. But it's also a statement from the band, and Emily. This is what you asked for, more LP, but heavy is the crown, bearing the burden of Chester's legacy, but you can't win if the white flag is out before the war begins, so they're saying they're not giving up on this. They're committed. It also pertains to the guy holding the crown in the video, Faker, who is a big name in League, several time world champion, he bears the burden of living up to the legends, and the other teams also live up to the expectations of being the ones to finally defeat the "Unkillable Demon King". What a fun meta🎉 I can't wait to listen to this album so much in november omg.

Linkin Park is undefeated in choosing singers. Period. Think about it this way, Chester built a name and legacy for himself over the years by having been who he was. Emily is 3 years younger than he was when he passed, that's a 38yr old, grown ass woman you're hearing and....we're two songs in... Put some respect on her name please, Ms. Armstrong has the mic now.

Has any of you thought about the lyrics of the first 2 songs? First werse Emily sing, says "we know we will get into a storm here, with picking Emily, we know some will not like it, but we really miss coming ut to you, and this is the way we can" And then Heavy is the crown to carry on this legacy - It is difficult but we are here. Remember - Heavy is the crown has been made before they went into this storm. I for one is sooooo happy they are back, and I find it totally gutsy to take in a woman as the new singer. #ThisIsStillMyLinkinPark

Was at the London show, in my opinion there's absolutely nothing to be wary of, any gitters from the live stream have gone, and when they announce the "full" tour next year, will be eagely awaiting to get more tickets.

I don't know what you've watched as far as live shows, but the live from the launch was by far Emily's worst performance - her live shows with them since that date have been so much better. Some of the songs sounded great on the launch, some sounded off key, some were blown while she was having an emotional moment reacting to people accepting her - HUGE moment for her, she was nervous, she didn't know how it was going to go. She's not Chester, but her vocal style is similar to his, so it does work well (she's admitted he was one of the influences who convinced her to learn how sing the way she does). One thing she seems to have (4 good shows aren't a real indication of it, time will tell) that Chester didn't is consistency live - she's been rock solid 4 out of 5 shows so far. We'll all find out. And bonus, she's doing songs well that Chester wouldn't sing live - there's been a few songs nobody has ever heard live at those shows... obviously Emptiness Machine and Heavy is the Crown, and part of Lost (I'd love to hear a full version of Lost, they just do the first part of it), but there are album tracks Chester didn't do live (and some he stopped doing live) that she's already done. Part of me wonders if the scream that Chester stopped doing live - if they left it out not because she couldn't do it, but because they hadn't released this song, and they wanted to send that "fuck you" moment with this song before they went there. I doubt she'll ever perform with a 17 second scream, but it wouldn't be shock if a 13-15 second rage belt showed up live when they hit the full tour (and please, the full version of Lost, because that song is some majestic shit).
