Thank you so much, Luke! It is very kind of you to take the time out of your day to leave this comment. I love hearing when my videos help! I will soon get more videos going. I have been busy with some music projects and taking care of my mom who has had a back issue. But all is turning out well. Hoping to start making some new videos soon. Thank you again so much for the subscribe and like and comment!

Hey man, this was SO helpful. I've just started producing in Logic and I've been looking for a comprehensive tutorial for so long on how to make a Synthwave track. This is the best I've found so far and over the course of two days I followed along and made my own track (or the bare bones of it so far) - and it's coming out OK! Most of all though I learned some really important things in this video about the basics, so a sincere THANK YOU for your help!

This is the best comment I have gotten to start off 2022! Thank you so very much. Feel free to leave a link to your track wherever you may have it streaming so I can hear it along with anyone else that may be following this post. I am so happy this video helped you. Means a lot to me to hear that!

@@blueroadhome It was a great crash course for beginners, really! Gave me an amazing overview and place to start. I'll share a link when I'm ready but I think it will still be a while as I'm a beginner when it comes to producing music electronically. 😄 I write short stories as a hobby and my goal is to turn them into a kind of synthwave musical podcasts. It's much harder than I initially thought 😅 but you know what they say: The journey is the destination 😑😄👌🏽

New to the channel, great content, really helpful and to the point - I'm tired of videos where they gloss over things they're doing or aren't clear or just plain annoy me with loads of adverts. Thanks man Edit - also, favourite 80s show is actually Police Squad for the silliness of it!

I love your video but am struggling to seperating drums into their own tracks. Around the 10:00 part of your video. For some reason when I right click on my track it says MIDI Transform with no options to separate the tracks (very new to this) lol. Love the content!
@blueroadhome
@blueroadhome Год назад
I am glad you asked. Let's see if we can get it working right for you. First off, you do want to make sure it is a midi file. If you notice in my video, the midi regions are green by default. This won't work with audio files which are blue by default. If it is indeed a midi file, you want to right click, go to convert, then go to separate by note pitch. This should work fine. Try those steps exactly and see if it works okay. I actually did a short on this as well. Here is a link. This might help you too. ru-vid.comxQX8uvc2FWc

Thanks for making this video. I really learned a lot. What is the reason for converting Midi to Audio before mixing? thanks
@blueroadhome
@blueroadhome 2 года назад
Hi Morris, thanks so much for the kind comment. I am glad you enjoyed the video. There are a number of good reasons to convert your midi to audio. 1. Converting your midi to audio makes your computer work less hard. When you start adding a bunch of mixing plugins, your computer does not have to live process the VST instruments simultaneously while mixing. 2. Some analogue emulator plugins actually respond a bit different to midi versus audio. Not all, but some analogue emulators like with UAD etc. 3. It's always good to have your sessions in both midi and audio. If you want to go back to a project years later, you may not be on the same DAW or have the same AU/VST instruments. This way you alway have a backup and can remix no matter what your studio situation. It is not a hard rule. If you like to keep everything midi then it's fine. But it could limit you in the above mentioned ways.

@blueroadhome

Hi John, I am sorry for my late reply. I generally don't have too much time to critique mixes because I am pretty busy with composing work for clients. If you want to leave me a link, I can try to take a listen sometime in the next few weeks. If you don't mind the wait, I''d be happy to give you my notes.

The sound you love is a Roland Lush or Juno, right? ✌🏼
@blueroadhome
@blueroadhome 2 года назад
Yeah, I know you can definitely get this on an older Roland. In fact, you can find this sound/texture on an old Alesis QSR in the 80s sounds. Arturia has some of these old synths which you have multiple version to choose from. If you dig around in some of this synths in logic you can find very similar stuff there. Thanks so much for leaving a comment!

@blueroadhome
@blueroadhome 2 года назад
No, the Reason Rack is a third party plug-in. It is a Reason Studios product. But you don’t need to go buy it. You can use whatever software instruments you want to follow along. This video is more about the process.

@pineapplerindm 2 года назад
@@blueroadhome how can I get that sound with the built-in synths? can't find any information online about this sound
@blueroadhome
@blueroadhome 2 года назад
@@pineapplerindm Excellent question. I found a synth sound very similar to that one I used in the Reason Rack in Alchemy. So open Alchemy and under Synths find the patch called "Skylight." At first this will sound a little different but here is what you need to tweak. Turn the "vibrato" knob all the way down (or all the way to the left). Also turn the "Vibrato Rate" Knob all the way down. In the Box section on the left make sure "Rich" is selected...should be by default. Lastly, where you see the X1: Crossfade X to the right of the "Symmetry" Knob. Set the little dot in the X1: Crossfade X to the far upper right. That will give you a very close sound. Let me know if this works for you.
@pineapplerindm
@pineapplerindm 2 года назад
@@blueroadhome i couldn't find a patch called Skylight in the dropdown menu or in the browser you see when you first open alchemy
@blueroadhome
@blueroadhome 2 года назад
@@pineapplerindm That is strange. It's not an addon. In the Alchemy browser under "Category" select "Synths". Under "Subcategory" make sure "All" is selected. Under "Genre" make sure "All" is selected. Then under "Timbre" make sure "Clean" is selected. Then you should be able to scroll down on the right and find Skylight. Also, just in case this might be an issue, under the Logic Pro dropdown menu, select "Sound Library" and make sure you select download all available sounds. Doubt that is the issue but worth a try.
