That is a diaphragm pump , it can't pump backwards and battery polarity shuldent make any difference. It just sohappened that it took a prime after you switched polarity , if you switch it back it will still pump. To prime a dia pump that is mounted higher than the fluid level you need to siphon through it or put air pressure in the tank to push fluid into the pump.

Harbor Frieght pretty much impresses me on all of their stuff. I think the quality is much better than a few years ago.

I picked up the same sprayer last week. Hooked everything up per the directions, the pump runs, but nothing comes out of the sprayer when pulling the handle. I switched the wires as you did, the pump runs, but nothing comes from the sprayer. I’ve let the pump run for over 15 minutes each time. Very disappointed that this doesn’t operate by following the manual.

Was going to get the HF one for spot spraying my yard, but found a Chapin Brand one on EBay for $85, works well for my yard. I do like your pantyhose filter

Use dye so you know where you sprayed. It saves on your weed spray

We bought one of these with the warranty, and we changed it out 5 times they are junk . Don't waste your money
