Excellent review! Thank you so much for doing it. I used to live in Galveston and now live on the panhandle of Florida. I have been searching for a fish bag for my paddle board and was going to purchase a $100+ bag. I found this one on Academy and then found your review of it. Your review sealed the deal on my purchase. I can't wait to fill it with fish!
I was reading this real quick and I read you panhandled to Florida 🤣🤣🤣 I was, like dang I bet that took awhile! I just couldn't see myself spending a lot on a fish bag and when I made this purchase I was hoping for the best. And to my surprise I really liked the bag, so much I had a few of my friends buy the same bag and they like theirs too. Thanks for watching 🤙🏻
Yeah, i think Hobie charges like 200+ (as is tradition for hobie). They have a lot more insulation than Magellan but at 1/4 of the price i cant really complain. just wish academy had more size options.
Thanks for the recommendation video. I had heard about the Magellan fish bag from a kayak vendor and wanted to see a review. You did a great job explaining the features and benefits and offered a practical example of how it worked for you in a hot summer day. Just picked up the fish bag today and it fits my kayak perfectly!
Awesome! That's great to hear. I really like my bag & so far it's held up great. I was concerned about the zippers with saltwater but they still zip up & down like they did my 1st trip out. Thanks for watching & I appreciate the comment 🤙🏼
Great review, I have been looking at this bag also, and for the price point it's an excellent buy. Thanks again for that great review and hopefully u catch your 26' flounder.
Hope you enjoy it! I put my drinks in a gallon zip bag, I'm a wimp 🤣 someone told me that put a trash bag in the cooler to place the fish in; it helps keep the bag clean, but I've never tried that. Thanks for watching 🤙🏻
Awesome buddy! You got a sub from me. Ive been looking at fish bags all week and almost pulled the trigger on a $100 plus bag. I was wondering about this one and I feel it will suit me just fine. Thanks! for sharing! Look forward to your future videos.
Think I'm going to get one I think to for I'm my ascend h12 when I chase crappie/whites. Curious to see how many white/sand bass I can put in there for the spring run. Usually good for about 20 good size ones.
It should be able to handle that. I have several friends that fish both fresh & saltwater and they never told me they ran out of room in this cooler. But then again maybe they're not catching as much as you 🤣 Thanks for watching 🤙🏼
This is a great bag and has held up great, just watch putting any fish with sharp fins like sheepshead in it. It's a soft-shell bag and I'm sure they can poke into the lining. But I love mine I would definitely buy it again...well worth the money.
@Texas All Water Fishing thank you! I was sad when you mentioned sheepshead cause that's what I'm primarily getting it for lol. But we're gonna roll with it cause they all will serve the same purpose. Thank you again!
I have taken heavy duty kitchen shears with me and although it might hurt a little I would removed their top fin so it wouldn't pock a hole in the lining of the bag.
It cleans easy, it's like soft shell cooler. I just spray it down with the water hose to remove any fish slime, spray it with any cleaner, let it soak, use a towel to remove any left over slime, & rinse it off. Pretty easy, great bag🤙🏼
I just had someone leave me a comment that he just bought one & it fit his kayak perfect. I was telling him that every thing with this bag still works great, the zippers still zip perfect after hours & hours of being splashed with saltwater. 🤙🏼
I ended up buying one and have used it on 3 different trips. The ice has kept for the most part, catch was super cold. I just gotta figure a way to latch it to the bow of my outback. I don’t like it in the tank well. I tend not to keep in the tank well.
Hey brother thanks for the review I have a question. Is it pretty tough? I've been considering getting one to put on my old town for crappie and white perch. The crap is gills are not that sharp. But the white perch are your thoughts
It's a pretty tough exterior but the interior isn't. It's a soft shell like cooler in the inside. I wouldn't put a sheepshead in it, I would be afraid it would puncture a hole in it. I've never caught a white perch so I don't know how rough they are. I would put them in a dry bag or something similar leaving the bag open & then put it in the fish bag, if that make sense
Hey brother thanks for the reply white perch look a lot like white bass but their gills are sharp as razor blades matter of fact if you held a white perch in one hand and a white bass in the other you couldn't tell the only way I could tell would be when you put your hands on the white perch they run their gills out and try to cut you with them
By the way thanks for all the work you do with saltwater soul and tell the man that owns the organization I said Thank you for doing what he did by starting that organization 👍👍👍👍👍
Will do, we do what we can. Billy Ray from Saltwater Soul is such a huge driving force with these clean ups he's been nominated for a citizen's award in Galveston
Helpful review! If you’re still using this bag, would you mind taking a few minutes to give me the exact measurements of it please? Specifically the overall length and width at its widest point. They don’t have it in stock at my local store, and I didn’t want to waste time ordering online if it won’t fit my boat like I want it to. Thanks!
Sure, its 24x18x8 inches. It works great, I have a few friends that bought one since I purchased mine & they like theirs. For the price it's well worth the money 🤙🏼
