You can use the Bigz dies in the Cuttlebug. You can also emboss the Spellbinders dies after cutting. All you need is a tan mat from Spellbinders and a couple of pieces of card shim. Sandwich would be A, B, die with cut paper and sharp edges up, tan mat, card shims, B.
I watched this video a year or so ago. At the time I was content with my Cuttlebug that I've had for about 6 years. However, I began wishing I had the Big Shot. I watched your video again and have ordered it as of this morning. Thanks for the excellent info in your video. I know that my Cuttlebug did cut all of the Sizzix dies. But it began to lose it's suction on the bottom and wiggled all over the counter when I was using it. I wanted a solid machine. I even debated about getting the Big Shot Plus. But the regular size is all I'll ever need! Oh...and for the comment below about the "disclaimer box"...I was able to simply click on the "x" in the upper right hand corner of the green box and it disappeared! Again...thanks for the excellent information.
Thank you so much for comparing these three machines. I have a Cuttlebug and I see so many demonstrators that use the Big Shot. I did not know about the Vagabond. I will save up for one of these for sure.
You can use the the Sizzix dies with the Cuttlebug. I only have the Cuttlebug and use it all the time with all dies except the Sizzix Pro but you can't use those dies in any of the listed machines. Just use the 2 A plates, they also sell the extended plates for the Cuttlebug.
BTW, I have one of the original Cuttlebugs. And you can run the Big Sizzix dies through it. You just need the extended platforms. You can run anything that is not wider then 6 inches.
You CAN use the sizzix dies in your Cuttlebug. You use just your 2 B plates.... for the long Sizzix dies, you will need to purchase the extended B plates. Refer to the manual page 8 ... the third picture down shows a sizzix die with two B plates
Nancy Klarer I still have my original cuttlebug after over 7 years ,and it does well never had a real issue that didn’t fix itself or had a solution cuts good embossed even better even takes sizzix steal rule dies which I love, don’t know why they stop making it
Thanks so much for making this video. I have the Cuttlebug and also the Cricut Expression. I have often wondered if other dies will work on my Cuttlebug. I don't have any cutting accessories for it, but do have several embossing folders. I feel confident in my choice. I will certainly go out and purchase many of the cutting accessories now! You've answered my questions! And a great video....very well presented. Thank You
Hi, I just wanted to say that I have used the steel rule sizzix dies in my Cuttlebug with no problem. You just have to experiment with the type & number of shims to get it to work to your satisfaction in your machine.
This was a really helpful video. I only want to emboss metal blanks for jewelry so I think I'm going to purchase the Cuttlebug, at least to start. Thanks a lot.
Hola. La suajadora del maletín está muy linda, nunca la había visto. Y los folders de embosing están muy simpáticos todos. Gracias por compartir me gustó mucho tu vídeo, la Sizzix también fue mi primera máquina. Saludos
Thank You for this video. You have answered my questions on these machines and now I can make my decision on which one to buy. I have a cricut and a sizzix texture boutique but I was also wanting another. Just couldn't decide between the cuttlebug or the big shot. Your video was great. Thank You again.
I just checked the Sizzix link for the bundle and they are out of stock. So disappointed. Your product review was very informative... I'm doing research to purchase a machine like this and you really helped me with answering a lot of my questions. :)
From watching these videos, I think the Vagabond should include more of what it needs for the price and it should have a reverse button. I hear some people have broken it because it doesn’t reverse. My favorite one is the big shot. I have the big kick (another version on the big shot) and I have The Big Shot plus which has a bigger base and I love it.
thak your for the measurements. It teells me I want the Sixxix Grand Calibur because it takes 8.5" wide. I am glad I asked. Thanks again. Loved your reviews!
You can use sizzix stealrule dies with the right plates u need two b plates one on the bottom of the sizzix die one on the top of it and they also have longer plates for the longer dies
Hi. Sorry I have not cut those before. Normally they are good on some stiff fabric. I would think it depends on the die. If you use a steel die then maybe but I suggest you check the manufacturers.
Hello, I also have the Cuttlebug and the Cricut Expression. I cut everything on my Cuttlebug. I am looking to get the Big shot only because it cuts wider dies then the cuttlebug. Also I see you like the Spellbinder dies, I get a lot of mine from Flower to Flourishes. The Big Shot on Amazon is $79 which includes the platforms. (I am doing research because I want to buy one. I hope this helps. Have a lovely day.
At any rate I think you helped me make my decision, despite the disclaimer box. Maybe you should put the box on the bottom opposite side of where you're working/demo'ing so we can see better. Or maybe it's just bc I'm on a iPad and not my laptop???
Thank you for your review. I am new to cutting machines. I need to cut through burlap with interfacing. Do you think one machine would do this better than the others? thanks again
I keep imagining that the "arms" will fold up like in Scuttlebug. If they did, I would not hesitate to buy the Big shot as it seems a bit more versatile. I want to take the machine with me sometimes, but I travel by bicycle: how big or awkward is Big Shot to transport?
I've never used any of these machines before. I would like to get one that would cut paper, cloth, foam, and soda can metal do I assume that the Vagabond is best on the market for this? Does it emboss on metal and paper?
Thank you very much for the upload. I was wondering if the two machiens can roll in paper that is 11 inch x 8.5 inch paper somehow. The boards look very narrow. If not, which machine can feed in the largest paper size? I will decide on which to buy based on the machine that is more flexible.
Hi, no these machines will only cut no wider than 6" wide. If you want a big machine you will need the Big Shot Pro that will cut 13" wide. The longest you can cut will depend on the plates you buy but normally they are about 12 to 20" long... depends on the manufacturer.
I don't think you can cut soda can metal. You will ruin the machine. You can probably cut thin chipboard but you will have to use a steel wool die. You can check out a video by Alanda Craft ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B3du5PmP-D8.html and she shows 34 materials she cut with the big shot
hi, i got this machine ,i was using my envelope liner and by mistake i forgot to use my first cutting plate on the multipurpose platform and there is a scratch . i am worried about it . please tell me what should i do now. thanks
Thank you for your very informative video! I'm new to embossing and I would like to know if it's possible to emboss metal blanks ( round small pendants) with the Sizzix Big Shot?
The new Anna Griffin Cuttlebug is great! I love all my machines but it is a matter of personal preference. The cuttlebug is more portable than the Big Shot.
I have the Cuttlebug, Spellbinders, and Cricut...help! The new magnetic platform seems to only fit in the BigShot. I don't want to buy another machine...ideas anyone.
I have recently become interested in metal stamping. I was curious if any of these would cut out metal blanks? Also, do you have to have specific die cuts to cut out metal blanks? :)
Thanks for the review. I think it was the cuddle bug you cut the lettering out and it didn't do to well? I was wondering since you didn't show with the other two machines, do either one of them cut lettering any better? Thanks so much!!
The Anna Griffin machine is just her design but the machine is made by Provo Craft as the Cuttlebug. It is very good. I actually use my Cuttlebug more now because the Big Shot has more tabs to sort thru. The Cuttlebug only has plates. You can even now get magnetic plates for both the Cuttlebug and Bigshot machine. It depends on what you are using it for. I use my bigshot when I have multiple cuts or lots of die cutting but I use the Anna Griffin more when I have to do single uses or cuts. The Bigshot is sturdier than the Cuttlebug.
Good review but distracting with your "follow manufactures" disclaimer boxes, I could hardly see what you were doing. Disclaimer box is to big then in the vagabond review another "follow manufactures directions" box box popped up taking up more screen space. Otherwise a good review up until the 2nd disclaimer box popped up I quit watching.
I purchased it with extra plates for 69.00 what a GREAT DEAL~~~~ I wish someone would come out with little cards how to use all the dies.. M-Bossbilities
