Should have machined for seals on bearing block. Put seals in backwards to keep out junk. Put in grease nipple in bearing block. Otherwise pretty good piece.
To keep chips and grit off of the clamping stud you might try putting a piece of tubing over it to cover the threads, it could be loose or welded to the nut. Try Gibbs Brand to keep the raw steel from rusting.
