Wow! What a fantastic little tool. This looks ideal for cutting the short pieces of brass rod/wire I need for a pendant I have in mind based on the Nebra Sy Disc. Thanks for the insight.

Hi Andrew, it's quite a wide saw guide, so you recommending measuring from the centre will not produce pieces of at least 10mm repeatedly. One should measure from right edge of the guide (the edge nearest the cut-off side ) to get at least 10 mm pieces.

I purchased a miter jig from Rio, wondering if you have one and what the pros and cons are of each, thanks Andrew.

Can't see how it would work for a lefty like myself. If I have the saw in my left hand, the lever would be on the wrong side of the tool to hold with my thumb

They don't work well for lefties, but it's possible if you can manage some hand acrobatics. I think I held mine backwards and used my pointer finger to hold the lever down. Lots of hand cramps but you make it work.

These have been around for quite a while now. I have found the the guide is too wide and it can lead to uneven cuts. Yes you can file it level after, but then there would be no point using it in the first place. These are available on eBay for approx £20.00

It looks handy and the price is really really good. Is that plated? It looks kinda like it. I doubt it, but if it is, I cannot see how that would terribly durable. Could be just what the video makes it look like.

Missing slot for angled cutting and built-in ruler.
@t0rb1naalborg44

Ruler! That would be expensive. Should it be metric OR 'inchy', having both would be even more expensive. an angel slot is not practical. Then you use a : MITER CUTTER JIG / MITER CUTTING VISE / WATCH BAND JOINT CUTTER / SCHANIER CLAMP / SCHARNIERKALIBER / PROFILSPANNLEHRE / BLOC À LIMER EN ÉQUERRE / UTENSILE A MORSA / COUPES-CHARNIERES / SCHARNIERABSCHNEIDER / HINGE CUTTER / PROFILE CUTTING DEVICE

Lets say you cur off a 10 mm or shorter piece of wire or tubing, how are you going to file the ends of that? You keep filing the ends of your supply piece.

@David Stevenson I am not trying to be negative, it is not a new idea and being Durston the price will be ridiculous
@pijnto
@pijnto 5 лет назад
@David Stevenson Well yes ok I am being negative, what I am saying is without pulling any punches if it from Durston it will way over priced
@pijnto
@pijnto 5 лет назад
@David Stevenson Exactly I would hate to see the company go like many many companies here have ( Australia) almost nothing is made here these days
