I'm a PM in a non-English speaking country, and just trying to find some videos to help me to learn English. Surprisingly, this video really helps a lot in English and interview. It is just exactly the scenerio when I was in an interview while he is more logical. Normallly, people dont just want a direct answer because you won't be able to come up with a great idea in such a short time. Instead, they want to know how you analyze the situation and problem.

I have seen many mock interview videos. This one ranks right there at the top. Such good articulation and approach. It's often said do not over apply framework and this is one of the best examples of how to coherently put forth thoughts and ideas and not sounding like a playbook/scripted answer. Great job Matthew and thanks for taking out time to do this and help everyone. Thanks Kenton for creating such great content.

His answer was quite vague but to be honest, this question was hard as heck.

As someone who has just started to look into the product management space as a potential career, this video was a fun watch. Clearly, lots of work to do to be able to explain my thoughts in such a lucid way!

One of the best mocks, this! He is seriously enjoying every bit of what he is talking..he is literally visualising everything he is explaining and that makes the content so interesting..

This mock interview is a great one. For people without much experience or new to product sense, it might get risky to follow this path answering this type of interview question from my opinion. Sounds like Matthew has in-depth knowledge and experience to support him answering the interview question this way.

Hey team, I actually was expecting more detail on how Matthew decided which feature to work with. It was not based on anything but he saying that he thinks that this would create more engagement.

I feel that the measuring success part is really vague. Somehow the goal changed from viewers' engagement to creators' remixing amount. But to be fair, all the interviews, in the end, is all about how you talk through them and justify them. I think overall this is a really good mock.

I really liked how he built this case logically. But the solution he provided - remix with original video and publish it for other viewers to be relatable and gain confidence on the original - i think its flawed coz it would be illegal or cause copyright issues on youtube. You might have to pay the content creator or even remove the videos if they claim.

It would be great if the interviewer’s notes of different time slot are clearly displayed in the comment section cuz I’d like to watch this video twice with the first time focusing on comparing my thoughts frame with Matthew’s and the second time comprehending the notes of the interviewer 😬

This has to be the most wishy washy answer ever. Does anyone think this is a feature that'd ever get built? If I'm focused on carefully replicating a Gordon Ramsay recipe, which by the way is super technical, why would I scroll through the other random things people are doing? Cooking, especially the Gordon Ramsay kind, is an intense process where not focusing for two minutes will turn your dish in to a disaster. The only kind of education I see this working for is dancing or gymnastics? It was super clear to me that the interviewee had a solution in mind [Tiktok] and was trying to retrofit it in to his answer. This makes me wonder if this is how Facebook copied stories from snap chat and now they are every-fucking-where. The interviewer on the other hand was basically keen on pleasing the guy for whatever reason, and did not ask a lot of challenging followup questions.

And exactly for this scenario, there should be put a proper research & solution validation put in place. Yes, you can destroy the meal, but you'll try it cook again - and this is where social might help. Maybe is cooking not the best example, but it might be something to start with.

I like how he peeled the problem, but I hate the part of onion he chose to put into the soup and the part he threw away. What is even remixing a video on youtube? It seems lost and copy cat, a better copy cat for where he landed would be a Polling Feature on each educational video so users don't just rely on # of likes/dislikes and read through thousands of comments. There was no dedicated feature here that met a particular goal he prioritized. Lastly, I love the encouragement here, but Interviewers notes could have called out critical gaps as well, than just going all gung-ho on him lol. In conclusion, there is more to takeaway from this video than to criticize, but don't be surprised if Facebook (Meta) itself rejects you post a similar interview performance.

yeah i’m going to have to agree- also how he goes “and using vr in there but i think that’s way out there” bec he knows to include a moonshot but there was absolutely no solution in that answer and the interviewer was just like “ya totally” i feel like the interviewee is very relaxed and comfortable but there wasn’t much substance to anything i have heard

I think a lot like him :) I am practicing more to get better. I would like to 'remix' his way of explaining but first telling my approach towards solving that HMW statement beforehand.

that's great - practice makes perfect! As you can see in the interviewer notes, always ways to improve on every aspect, even if you're already at one of the best companies out there!

How would such a feature work for a learning video where the output is not a dish/craftwork/ etc but more cerebral?
