how is this guy not more famous. Maybe he is really really clear ONLY to those of us who are Nero divergent aka entroponurial and not normies?! yup I am dyslexic, hence spelling, but the way MIke reverse engineers and retrofits dusty old business thinking is Heaven to my big ears.
After being recommended this author I was a bit underwhelmed by how surface the advice seemed for most of the video, since at this point it sounds a bit obvious that one should prioritize and delegate the rest and it's still easier said than done. But the end part about finding the core purpose by challenging yourself what roles you'd be willing to sacrifice if you could only keep one blew my mind. I'll definitely check out the book now.
I love this concept, but it automatically assumes you have people to delegate non-queen bee roles to. What about people just starting out who don't have the capacity to bring in hands?
Give the role to someone else. The Queen Bee isn't what's important. The Role is. In a Hive, the moment the Queen Bee dies you best believe the other bees are working to produce a new Queen Bee to get back to the role.
I like his talks but wish he'd knock it off with the BS time-filler stories. He wastes too much time on them. I'm grateful that I can scroll forward! I'll summarize this and save you 13 minutes and 55 seconds. Don't micromanage or do everything. Do only what you need to do as the leader or owner of your business. Delegate all the rest. Tah dah! Now that's a productivity hack!
Even better.... whatever position you have, concentrate in what only YOU can do, delegate the rest (if you can). I would add, that, if you are just starting your own company and MUST do lots of things, prioritise the thing only YOU can do, if you had employees. Set things up so this is the case.
People who leave comments like this make me laugh. Because you completely miss the point. Simply having the knowledge to be able to do something does not make you successful with it. Stories convince and motivate you to change your beliefs about something so you actually take action on what you learn. Just because you can summarize the education doesn’t make the stories irrelevant. Stories make the education meaningful to the listener which helps them take action.
You definitely don't understand the powers of stories. Stories feed your mind and your soul. If you just want bullet point go and read a PowerPoint slide. Don't listen to Ted talks. Most if not all good Ted talks share stories.
