Hi! hEDS + cadiac symptoms mimicking POTS here. I also am not able to get up right away in the morning, so I also lie around in bed a lot before getting up! I just wanted to second the fairy lights thing: I can't express how nice it is to have fairy lights in the morning! I feel like waking up is always a struggle just because I feel so lousy for the first hour and a half of consciousness, and having fairy lights and some low-intensity music on in the morning can actually put me in a wonderful mood to start the day, even when I feel like an absolute dumpster fire! :) I'd also never thought about the pop sockets being helpful for joint pain in the fingers - I'll go check it out! Thanks for sharing these tips - I know how much energy it takes to make a video, and it's super helpful and much appreciated!

I’ve never thought about pop sockets helping with joint pain, but that’s definitely something I’m going to consider getting! Also, if anyone’s interested in a good bed table. IKEA makes a really cheap one that’s turquoise if you want a cute color.

Audiobooks absolutely save my sanity when I can't do much/anything but want to use a smidge of brain. I loved Red White and Royal Blue and listened to it just a little while ago so it was super fun to see it in your video. Always like hearing how other folks navigate and adapt so thanks for your videos.

Great to see you back uploading videos again Georgina! Whilst I am diagnosed with something completely different to POTS, your videos really helped me deal with my own condition. The prescription certificate video was super helpful! You also inspired me to start my own channel about my condition to help others as there wasn't any other channels on it out there. Keep up the great work :)

Some authors are now putting their books on RU-vid in audio. I have a PC tablet holder that clamps onto the bed post, so I don't have to hold it. I use ear buds with no leads so I can lay or sit in bed w/o getting tangled.

Great video, thank you so much for sharing. I’m definitely going to get my next pill box in that pop-up style. I have a cable with a dimmer switch on it that reaches to my bed from a floor lamp. I don’t have room on my bedside table for anything but medicines and water, either! I also have times when I’m so sick I can only lie still and can’t look at most screens, but I’ve found I can tolerate e-reader screens with the backlight off. They look just like a page of a book, but you can make the text as big as you like! I have a bedside tablet clamp that holds my e-reader over my head for me, and I get my e-books on Libby through my library. It’s been a lifesaver to get me through the harder times. Best of luck with your last term!
@GeorginasJourney
@GeorginasJourney 3 года назад
Thank you! That sounds like a great set up! My local library doesn’t have that sadly, so I’m really glad I found another way to get audiobooks that I could afford 😊
@mnbvcx66
@mnbvcx66 3 года назад
There’s also a setting on iPads (and I think iPhones) where you can make the screen much darker than the lowest brightness setting by tapping a button. If you go into general settings > accessibility > accessibility shortcut > display accommodations. You can reduce the brightness of the screen in multiple ways. Then if you go back to accessibility shortcut, there’s an option called ‘reduce whitepoint’ with which you can toggle the brightness between the normal brightness level and the reduced level from the display accommodation settings by pressing the home button 3 times. It’s useful for those times I can barely look at the screen but my mind is still awake.

I have been doing the stay in bed when waking up in the morning. It’s so funny my doctor told me that recommendation a couple days after I saw it from you. I do feel like I need some light in the morning. I think I’m going to get some fairy lights so I can wake up more easily. Thank you so much for that suggestion! Also I wanted to thank you because after seeing your channel I feel so much less alone. I have had autonomic dysfunction since 2019. This may sound terrible but for a long time people and doctors didn’t believe me that I didn’t feel well. Finally I got a new doctor. She is amazing and my neurologist and her agreed I needed autonomic testing. Now I am diagnosed and I have felt very alone. So thank you for sharing your story you have really helped me and I appreciate you.

I found a case that has a rubberized loop on the back, which for me works better than a pop socket. It is called a Loopy case and I drop my phone so much less now. I mostly have the usual accessories, a heating pad, cane, shower chair and grab bar, something to help me apply lotion to my lower legs and back, a grabber. Have a similar pill case and have the pharmacy use easy open caps which has been wonderful! I have a large backrest I use to sit against on my bed and use my iPad in my lap on a small pillow

Hey Georgina, I’m just curious as I have a tilt table test next week. I’m terrified because I’ve never actually fainted and the thought that I could really scares me, have you had one ? How did you find it if you have ? X
@GeorginasJourney
@GeorginasJourney 3 года назад
A tilt table test is just where they stand you up at an angle which is slightly less than standing, so if you can stand without fainting, you’re unlikely to faint during the test. You can also tell them to stop at any point if your symptoms become unbearable. But because the angle is slightly less than standing upright, you should be slightly less symptomatic than just standing up normally. Hope this helps x

Hiya great video, talking of audio books, a lot of UK library's have online access to ebooks and audio books too. Here is the blog post I wrote about how to access it aspacetoheal.wordpress.com/2016/02/19/online-library-access/ basically short version is, if you have a library card, search .gov website for art and leasure which should get you to library link, and you can use the two options u mention libby or the one u said, soz my mind mush. you go to your local authority page for librarys, type in your library card info and you can read ebooks and audio books that way. If you have disabilites so can't access the library directly, some offer Home library service but check with your local authority as to what is available where u are. Hope this is of help to someone. I too love an audio book when the pain gets too much but u still want to listen to something soothing. stay safe and thanks for your videos.
