I disagree with his argument that the USA’s military provocations in the South China Sea, its diplomatic and military support for Taiwan, and its feverish efforts to contain China are perfectly justified. According to him, this is because China has genuine territorial ambitions in Southeast Asia. However, he takes a completely different stance when it comes to the tension between Russia and the U.S. Mearsheimer argues that the U.S. efforts to offer NATO membership to Ukraine and other European countries bordering Russia are unwarranted provocations, and therefore, Russia’s reaction is justified. He also believes that Russia has no intention of expanding westward into Europe. As you can see, he draws two conflicting conclusions about two strikingly similar situations.

Так вот, это неправда, они могли не уведомить о точной дате или конкретном месте атаки, но то, что США знали о готовящемся наступлении, это точно. И надо пояснить, почему в этом практически нет сомнений. Начну с того, что о том, что Украина готовит какую-то акцию и наступление, в оппозиционных украинских интернет-каналах говорят уже порядка 2-3 месяцев. И что Зеленский обещал устроить хоть какую-то видимую победу спонсорам из США и демократической партии, как благодарность за выделенные деньги, что даст возможность демократам оправдать все эти траты и возможность пиара перед выборами. Даже предположительное время обсуждалось - конец лета, просто никто не знал, что это будет и в каком направлении, так как предполагалось, что в этом должна быть хоть какая-то военная логика и стратегия. Поэтому думали, что это будет где-то на линии фронта, например в Херсоне или Запорожье. Но, как мы видим, Зеленский выбрал не стратегию и логику, а громкий пиар в виде нападения на саму Россию, что, конечно же, будут обсуждать все, но военной логики в этом нет, а даже наоборот, ухудшит и без того тяжелое положение Украины. Просто надо понимать, что этот «успех» - это чистая Пирова победа, где результат обусловлен неожиданностью выбора вопреки логике. Конечно, из-за эффекта неожиданности Россия провалила оборону части территории, так как там не было больших укреплений, а контингент из солдат-срочников, которым по 18-20 лет, был не готов к натиску превосходящих и обученных матерых солдат. Теперь России понадобится 2-3 недели для сосредоточения сил, чтобы выбить оттуда украинских солдат, но что потом? И вот мы приходим к тому, что эта пиар-атака Зеленского обернется ухудшением положения Украины. Начнем с обсуждения мотивов, например, что захват российской территории может быть предметом торга на переговорах. Те, кто на это рассчитывает, идиоты, не понимающие менталитета русских, так никогда не было, это только усилит поддержку сил, которые выступают за более жесткие решения украинской проблемы. Вспомните, когда Россия входила в Харьковскую область, то целью было создать буферную зону, чтобы они перестали обстреливать Белгород, теперь таких «буферных» зон надо будет делать значительно больше. Теперь вспомните, что Харьковское направление и так увеличило фронт, где Украине пришлось закрывать его резервами. И вот Зеленский совершает наступление на Курском направлении, это разве не увеличивает фронт еще больше? Вот почему эта затея ничего, кроме сиюминутной картинки с мнимым достижением, к реальной стратегии не имеет. Так как у России значительно больше резервов и мобилизационного потенциала, и Россия может в короткий срок, в 2-3 месяца, нарастить свой контингент до колоссальных размеров в 2-3-4 миллиона солдат. Открыть еще 5 фронтов и просто сравнять Украину с землей. И я не знаю, как поведет себя руководство России, но почти наверняка вместо 4 областей, которые уже почти освободили и, скорее всего, на них бы и остановились, теперь будет больше, теперь есть смысл забрать Харьков, Одессу, Сумы и так далее, вот к чему может привести этот пиар-ход Зеленского. Есть еще несколько мыслей на тему, зачем это было сделано. Во-первых, сбить мирную инициативу от сил, которые находятся на западе, например, Орбана, так как России теперь придется ответить и на мирные переговоры в данной ситуации она не пойдет. Также в Кировской области находится газовый терминал и ядерная электростанция, цены на газ поднимутся для Европы, что хорошо для Великобритании и США. А захват ядерной электростанции даст возможность Зеленскому шантажировать всех, и Россию, и Европу.

Recent report is that a meeting of the Arab nations in Jeddah put out a communique saying, amongst other matters, that Iran can reply. This is effectively agreement that there would be no complaints from the moderate Arab nations if Iran does hit hard.
