I used to work at a few bars in Hollywood, CA. So naturally I always go to one of those because I know I have an established relationship with the staff and friendships with my favorite bartenders. Because I always tip near 40-50% and the previous working/friendship relationships I always get a either a double for no extra charge or 50% of my tab depending on the place and usually keep my orders simple enough that the bartender can serve me fast and move on to the next person. I found that this even works with new bartenders that I don't know after having left the place. But even aside from all that, having established relationships with anyone in general always pays forward if u stick to being a good person/customer who tips well. I always feel like the ones that r rude and skimp on the tip r the ones that haven't worked a day of their life in the service industry. So they r clueless on how difficult in can be in this industry.

This is a pet peeve directed at other bartenders, coming from a bartender. I hate it when bartenders use tins or Hawthorne strainers that have been sitting in a dump sink. I can't tell you how many times I've seen this while working, and it's so frustrating. Talk about bad Karma. When I'm on the other side of the bar, I want my drink to be made the right way. Yes, sometimes we're in a rush, but there's no excuse for not working clean.

This is so accurate 😅 For guests trying to get attention i’ve literally had people come from the front bar to our back service well and ask me to stop what i’m doing to come up front and serve them. Mind you it was just me that night and the guy couldn’t have been waiting for more than 5 minutes. Smh

That’s so rude to ask for free drinks?! One time I went to a bar and asked for a shot of Malibu and the ONLY reason I got em for free is because no one was ordering Malibu and no one took their last shots of Malibu so the nice bartender girl gave me a free shot of it! BUT NEVER RUDELY ASK

probably my top bar pet peeve is when they ask me whats on draft while staring at me through our line of taps. like bro seriously. I usually just gesture emphatically.

Why you making that so difficult? Whyat if one can’t read or simply doesn’t know the logo’s? You should be able to mention all your beers in like 2 seconds so next time, don’t try to understand why they asked you for dumb information and just answer, it can even be a way to be more polite and when they ask you directly you can push your “top shelf”
@sousalarson6858
@sousalarson6858 3 года назад
@@frenk9818 If they dont recognize the logos why do they always laugh awkwardly then read the handles and get...you guessed it! Bud light. If they were asking specific questions like what our locals or IPAs are or for a vegan beer or a suggestion then great. Ill answer. But when people are to lazy to read what is literally in front of them, i take issue. Also, jokes on you, we didnt have top shelf beer. It all cost the same so nothing to push except a bigger size.

@@sousalarson6858 I still disagree with your way though... but I guess I’m talking based on my environment of work so fair enough you know your costumers

I've worked retail and have had a customer lean over my parts counter and flap his money in my face while I was on the phone with another customer.

I also think that the people who r snapping their fingers at bartenders don't understand that it is literally the bartenders job to scan the bar for customers that r ready for another drink. It doesn't pay to stand around and ignore customers or fuck with ur phone while ignoring customers. Good bartenders want to make as much money off of making drinks, get more tips and please their managers with good sales. So if they don't see u right away, it has nothing to do with them ignoring u. They r most likely working on a drink for another customer. So catching their eye with a polite smile while being patient is actually perfect and works charms 99% of the time. So, don't be "that guy/gal". In a good bar with great bartenders, it's only a matter of minutes before they'll get to u. Snapping at them is only going to distract them from the 5-10 drinks they r already concentrated on and not going to win u any brownie points or get them to make ur drink any faster. If anything, it'll only aggravate them and throw u to the back of the que on purpose.

Another tip for getting the bartenders attention to let them know you need a drink is to put your empty drink glass or bottle on the edge of the bar closest to the bartender side. Then catch their eyes and smile. And then be patient! :-)

Great video man, some awesome points covered! The less ice in the drink thing gets me every time 🤦🏼‍♂️ the science of ice is so the more ice > the colder the drink > the slower it melts > less dilution = a better and proper tasting drink! Perhaps I’ll do a video on it on my channel 😅

I like your response to them asking for your favorite drink. Better to suggest something quick to get to your next customer. I also feel the same way about tipping others when I go out. If I don't leave them a tip, I am not going to get a good tip from someone else. I don't want the bad karma either.

Thats the biggest thing that triggers me the most out of the other things people do in a bar. Its like we aint your slaves to snap or do disrespectful things at us. Bad manners = painfully slow reaction from the bartender = publiclly shame yourself in the bar when ordering.

I think if a customer wants to take a shot with the bartender, the bartender can just use a vodka bottle filled with water to pour their own shot and fill the other at the same time with what ever the customer wants to drink. Or do it the Coyote Ugly way. Have an empty chaser ready to spit your shot in.

I'm a barback, and my pet peeve is when my bartender is drunk or high on their shift. I have to save them even more so. They have to cook to, and it puts the bar at risk. Unfortunately, it's the manager that does this so when another bartender does it, can't complain about them doing it. Come to work, on time, sober and be ready. I don't need to be telling you a customer is waiting when your not scanning the bar. Oh..last pet peeve is campers...be consistent..call last at X time..and pull drinks at X time. I need to get those areas cleaned so we can all get out of there at the right time.

Id maybe like to add... on when customers are asking for more alcohol in their drink. Aside from adding extra drops in the straw (which was new for me) you can also maybe add a splash of club soda as the carbonation will make the alcohol be absorbed quicker to the bloodstream, thus 🤜🏼💥🤪
