@65nidheeshkumarprabakaramo68
there are signals, please watch the bowl out between india and pakistan ig, dhoni marked where the bowlers to bowl with his position, and between each ball the keeper can literally talk to the bowler shout on the pitch telling him the line and the length, the thing fascinating about dhoni is he gets his math right tells the bowler to bowl acc to the field setup and gets the wicket

He anticipated, didn't wear the right glove and then decided to run instead of throwing knowing he has to cover longer distance that too on grass, knowing batsman can dive. What a presence of mind. As you mentioned, yes it's a common thing for a wicket keeper to catch the ball and get the batsmen out when they are out of the crease (that white line): It is called a Stumping. The insane thing about Dhoni is his reaction time to catch the ball and hit the stumps. He achieves this by a couple of techniques: 1. Negating the recoil: Average wicket keeper after catching the ball takes their hands back in the direction of ball trajectory to negate the impact on their hands and also to take a better grip of the ball. However, look at MS Dhoni's hand position after catching the ball, they are rock solid and barely move. His grip is firm and he's ready to hit the stumps. 2. Catching the ball as early as possible: He does that by standing close to stumps and catching the ball as it just passes the stumps. It's very difficult thing to do and could result in extra runs for a batsman if he fails to catch the missed ball. Also remember, if a wicket keeper catches the ball before it passes the stumps, it's a foul. Watch his close stumpings, he catches the ball very close to stumps and he's already in motion to hit the stumps that's why he is able to get batsmen out. Apart from this: He's a legend and has a great game sense. He has led his team to win all the major trophies in cricket: T20 World Cup - 2007, World Cup - 2011 and Champions Trophy - 2013

5:25 The level of deception that was smartly employed there was just amazing. Mitch Marsh was thinking the ball went to the other end because of dhoni's relax posture, hence he slowed his speed only to get surprised that the ball was still coming to his end of the strike.

His(Dhoni's) reaction time is impeccable. Adam Gilchrist, Mark Boucher may have more dismissal than him but he is considered as one of the best keeper, finisher and captain. Note: In your last catch video reaction the guy caught the ball and ran along the line (t shirt no. 10) is considered as God of cricket. MSD (Mahindra Singh Dhoni) is a true champion of the game . The run out at 5:28 min into your video, he has actually fooled the batsman. the batsman (hitter) running to the strickers end thinks that the fielder throwing the ball has thrown it to the bowlers (Pitcher) end because he sees MSD very calm and non reactive so the batsman slows down his pace. however by the time MSD reacts to the ball, and gets him run out (if you see that part a couple of times) he cons the batsman into thinking he is running to the safe end. however it was too late for him to pickup his pace at the reaction moment. That's MSD intelligence in the game.

@@saiswaroop1967 it applies in many circumstances, not just in pretending to throw the ball. This issue was discussed at a pre season session of the South Australian Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association last year, of which I'm a member. The consensus was that ultimately it's the umpire's call, but the rule is deliberately broad enough to incorporate other instances where the fielding side deliberately deceives a batter to gain an advantage. Here's the relevant section from the Laws of Cricket. Show me where this rule only applies to fielders pretending to throw the ball: Law 41.5: Deliberate distraction, deception or obstruction of batsman 41.5.1 In addition to 41.4, it is unfair for any fielder wilfully to attempt, by word or action, to distract, deceive or obstruct either batsman after the striker has received the ball. 41.5.2 It is for either one of the umpires to decide whether any distraction, deception or obstruction is wilful or not. 41.5.3 If either umpire considers that a fielder has caused or attempted to cause such a distraction, deception or obstruction, he/she shall immediately call and signal Dead ball and inform the other umpire of the reason for the call. 41.5.4 Neither batsman shall be dismissed from that delivery. 41.5.5 If an obstruction involves physical contact, the umpires together shall decide whether or not an offence under Law 42 (Players' conduct) has been committed. 41.5.5.1 If an offence under Law 42 (Players' conduct) has been committed, they shall apply the relevant procedures in Law 42 and shall also apply each of 41.5.7 to 41.5.9. 41.5.5.2 If they consider that there has been no offence under Law 42 (Players' conduct), they shall apply each of 41.5.6 to 41.5.10. 41.5.6 The bowler's end umpire shall - award 5 Penalty runs to the batting side. - inform the captain of the fielding side of the reason for this action and as soon as practicable inform the captain of the batting side 41.5.7 The ball shall not count as one of the over. 41.5.8 Any runs completed by the batsmen before the offence shall be scored, together with any runs for penalties awarded to either side. Additionally, the run in progress shall be scored whether or not the batsmen had already crossed at the instant of the offence. 41.5.9 The batsmen at the wicket shall decide which of them is to face the next delivery.

One of the the unique things about Dhoni is that he always knows weather Its our or not, because most of these close calls are too close for human eyes, and the team only have limited reviews per match of the umpire doesn't vote in their favour, so it's very important you use them wisely, and Dhoni always knows the result

These videos which you are watching in normal speed are also slowed down in live telecast but when you are on the field watching live match in front of you, you cannot see the ball when a bowler is bowling I have seen this with my own eyes on the stadium.

So in the last one the pitch were the batsmen are standing and playing is of 22 yards and Dhoni is standing 23-24 yard away from the pitch, he is just so fast that he could complete 24 yards before the batsmen could cover 22 yards. That is what makes that clip so special

The keeper can react "better" than the batsman because he has more reaction time, the bowler "pitches" (bounces) the ball on a good length to the batsman, which when the ball deviates after the bounce the batman cannot react, but the keeper being that extra couple yards back sees the deviated movement all the way.

Dhoni is respected not only for his speed but for his presence of mind. If you see at 5:26 he pretends the ball is not coming his way to deceive the batsman and get him out. Similarly at 6:03 he waits till the batsman foot is in air and then hits it. There are various other circumstances where this is shown

About the bowler and wicket keeper working to a plan. There will be a broad plan, and a way or plan to get each batsman out depending on who the batsman at the time is. But nearly all wicketkeepers will tell you that they would never work with signals or a plan per ball. Not like in Basesall where the catcher suggests different pitches to the pitcher with secret signals until the pitcher agrees on one certain pitch. It just doesn't happen. I was a baseball coach here in NL for 12 years but my first love is cricket. Great channel by the way. Watched nearly all your vids. Love it!

Keeper here in my day. It is very instinctual for sure. Not everyone can do it. Usually fast anticipators of what the ball will do. Fast hands. Soft hands. But there is a lot of learnt technique as you get to a higher level. Dhoni was not a technical wicket keeper. In his initial days at the top level critics felt his luck would run out for keeping. But he proved you don't have to be all technique. Natural instincts go a long way. But I think over the years he slowly got better at technique.

The batsman can either get bowled out or “ hit wicket”. Bowled out is when the bowler gets you out by hitting getting the ball to hit the wickets and the other is when he bowls in such a way that he gets the batsman to step out of the crease, giving the wicket keeper enough time to “hit-wicket” (hit the wicket), like in a run out situation.

3 ways keeper can out you 1) Balls touches edge of bat and wicket keeper catches 2) Batsman hits the ball, now they are running between wickets to take run. Fielders will catch the ball and throw it back to Wicket keeper, keeper will try to hit stumps before batsman will reach inside the line. 3) Anytime, batsman is out of the line and any player in second team touches the ball to stumps. Batsman will be out.

What most clips in this video shows is stumped out. That happens when batter goes out of the crease (line), and fails to come back before keeper dislodges the bails ( i.e. breaks the stumps/wickets). FYI, the line belongs to the fielders. All those outs were, when batter was not inside the crease.

In cricket, The batsman gets out when he misses the ball in one of the two situations. 1. The ball hits the stump on its own. That's called stump bowled. 2. The wicket keeper collects it behind the stumps and throws or touches the ball on the stump while the batsman is not inside the line (Crease).

As a batsman If you leave the crease in the process of hitting the ball, the wicket keeper can stump out you. Gathering the ball should always be behind the wickets, hence it crucial to collect the ball at the right time and remove the bells. MS Dhoni's Cricket IQ is one of the best in cricket history.

DRS is 'Decision review system' you can challenge the umpire's decision once per inning, if you are able to change the decision you get one more, if you are unable to change it, you lose it. When Dhoni is on the field, DRS is 'Dhoni review system'

There are hardly any wicketkeepers with that level of overall keeping skills. He is best in everything when it comes to wicketkeeping. Many wicketkeepers have tried imitating his style but failed on field. That made them look funny but also shows that how much skilled is MS Dhoni.

You will notice that the batsmen on a number of shots shows his foot is behind the line or crease, If he is in front of the line the quickest way to get safe is to reach and ground the bat behind the line (usually called the crease) to prove you are safe, at that point even if the keeper takes the stumps with the ball you are still safe.

Diving Catches is Normal but he is the fastest keeper out there and also there is DRS- Decisions Review System in which if any team think the decision taken by umpires may be wrong they can appeal to check it again but in India we call Dhoni Review System because if Dhoni ask for a review, It will be in his favour. His appeal are never wrong. Also I would recommend his Batting too. Watch him bat and tou may feel he hs more powerin those arms than many hitters in baseball.

If you’re the batsman, you have to get your foot back in the crease, rectangular box before the wicket after a bowl or the wicket keeper stumps or gets you out. Remember the ball is whizzing at you at 80 mph or faster.

i don't know if anyone told you this. so he is the top wicket-keeper in world. He holds the record of most stumpings and all. But crazy part is this that some old cricketers try to imitate his speed and action during post/pre match sessions and just trying to do that fast some got injured. He has shown extreme quickness behind the wickets and he is role model for every wicket keeper presently in world

A major difference in batting in cricket and baseball is footwork. In cricket, especially against spinners, its is important to get to the pitch of the ball and hence you see all the batsmen leaning forward to get to the pitch to negate the turn. When the bowler is smart he can deceive the batsmen in flight and turn and cause him to stretch forward but miss the ball. This gives the keeper a split second(microseconds for Dhoni) to execute a stumping before the batsman can get back into the crease.

What you say at 3:00 about the bowlers aim... The batsman can be out 10 ways but 5 are very common: Bowled Caught (by the keeper or any player) LBW (you'll have to Google that one - very complicated) Run out Stumped (What Dhoni is doing alot of the time when the batsman doesn't make it back)

So there are 4 ways a bowler can get a batsman out. 1. Bowled; hitting the wickets and making the bails (the two small cross sticks) come off. 2. Caught; catching a ball hit by the batsman on the full. Even though others can catch the ball the wicket always goes to the bowler. 3. Stumped; if the batsman leaves their crease while attempting to play a shot, the wicketkeeper can knock the bails off before he gets back in. This is basically a form of run out. 4. Leg Before Wicket (usually shortened to lbw); when the ball strikes a batsman’s pads (without touching the bat) and would have, in the umpires opinion, gone on to hit the wickets. That’s why the umpire stands behind the stumps at the other end, so they can determine lbw decisions. The LBW rule is the most confusing dismissal type for people who are new to cricket but it’s essentially designed to make batsmen play shots and prevent them from just blocking the wickets with their pads every ball.
