Since its been over 10 years now I would love to see an updated version of this to see what all has changed. I know you haven't made any videos like this for quite sometime now but seeing it on your channel where a lot of these types of interviews originated from would be extremally cool
carinaejag lolz so you had a masters degree by the time you were 22 he is driven to say the least and dignity is based on your set of morals and who says what set is right and wrong you? as if, me nope, a government of a group of people nope enjoy your one way view of the world, and oh self respect? didn't sound like he had any problem with what he does for a living but once again your the one that decides what people think of them self? your society and most likely our society has bred people to be arrogant, might want to work on that.
I don't play any of these games nor do I have any idea how they work but I find these videos fascinating... There's something compelling about listening to how other people scheme (good or bad) to profit from certain circumstances legitimate or otherwise, it's almost like watching the creative process for an artist except it's monetary in nature and not so much self expression. It spurs a sort of entrepreneurial desire and perhaps even spark a few ideas which may be totally unrelated to the subject matter but the same principals can be applied and you hear the pitfalls of doing things the wrong way and the right way as neither is guaranteed to protect you, there's risk in any sort of business venture and just listening to the amounts of risk successful people take is some what inspiring if not terrifying. Lol.
Regardless of how you feel about secondary markets this is a really cool interview. The gold hustler and the interviewer are both on point and have good questions and answers. Only 12 min in but gonna keep watching.
As a former employee of blizzard, I can say that the farming and selling of gold isn't the problem that we had with RMT companies. The problem is that a lot of those 'farmers' have become almost entirely predatory, and they not longer farm gold, as much as compromise legit player's accounts and steal the gold they sell. In making the change, the RMT market has caused a huge influx in the amount of work we have to do to keep players online, which costs us money directly.
Even better than required password resets is secondary passwords. No memory issues. Mabinogi implements this and I've never had issues remembering/never cared about the user experience. Two passwords required to login. For mabinogi, the second password utilizes an on screen keyboard, also circumventing keyloggers if those are even still a thing, lol.
The hate and jealously in this comment section is epic, dude realized how to make money without breaking any rules himself. Good for him. Then remember, its players that decide to buy gold not the sellers!
Jared Psigoda is the co-founder and CEO of Reality Squared Games, or R2Games, a Web and mobile game publisher specializing in free-to-play games. The company currently has more than 200 employees, and offices in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou whose business includes bringing Chinese games to Western players. from forbes.. I think he survived the wow tokens.
I remember my buddy stopped playing WoW sometime during WotlK, and decided to get into gold farming. He bought Glider or some other bot, and just had his main character fly around in Icecrown mining, 24/7. He would sell the ores on the auction house, and then sell the gold to these websites. He actually made enough each month to pay his rent. Not bad for spending 15-20 min a day on the auction house.
Don't waste your anger on this kid playing with game economies and making some bank, hate on the higher ups that are fucking up real economies and making millions if not billions.
+Lawlhero why would you hate on somebody for making millions? they create jobs? What would a country be without millionaires? Are you jealous of them because they work hard or something?
Actually in France you can get a doctorate after 5 years of studies and if you know how to organize your schedule you can also get 2 or 3 at once but that requires a huge amount of work.
Peter Refsgaard I think he believes that attaining a masters degree in a foreign language at the age of 22 is impressive. I think the cut off for being impressed about a masters degree in a foreign language would be about 12-13 years old.
I love videos that have Live Action Backrounds like this video, you can just tell where he edited the video for like, half a second or a second, to save time. Ha! I love it!
I understand the hate towards this guy for what he's involved in, but I also find it really funny that because of that hate, most of the commentators on this video are blind and can't analyze the video objectively. The guy may be doing something unethical but he actually seems quite smart and knows what he's talking about. You should probably also Google his name, it might give you a little insight about him: www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&es_th=1&ie=UTF-8#q=jared%20psigoda
+erwin s That's not what I said. If you bothered to try and understand what I was saying, I was commenting on all the people calling him stupid for what he was doing. Like I said you can absolutely argue the ethics of what he's doing and I wholeheartedly agree that it's wrong. But he's not stupid, he's actually pretty smart and he's pretty successful at what he does. When you separate what you personally think about a person with what they've accomplished and how they accomplished it, it's easy to see my point. This is completely independent from whether something is right or wrong. But instead you'd rather ignorantly insult me and completely miss my point.
This kid is smart, I'll give him that. And I respect that. Obtaining a Masters by 22 is not an easy thing to do. However, from a gamer's point of view...even though you are on a Broker Level, you still have a hand in making the game less enjoyable for others. Every day I log into one f my games, I have to ignore the spam, and I choose to do the work for my gold, gil or otherwise, myself, because its HONEST. Its not your knowledge that I despise kid, it's what you are choosing to do with it...
I met a malaysian woman named Sue and she was pro at RMT, she made sure none of her customers get banned because she had access to the GM's accounts too. really incredible work.
Well then you're a pretty shitty listener. He did repeat himself several times, but that's because the questions were fairly repetitive. And anyways, I dare you to try pull off the same thing he did. Try controlling like 30% of all the gold in a wow server.
This kid should get into a more stable market, he's got a brilliant mind and although there are many hating on him, thats just jealousy, give him some credit its nice to see people rising from poverty and making jobs for themselves and others. He could adapt this knowledge to any sector because he has the basics of business down and thats all one needs. Well done buddy!
In response to your point on the revenue generated by the actual farmers subscriptions; the influx of gold also generates a game economy that can bring high prices in the auction house, and this keeps the game alluring (at least, for me,) resulting in more renewed subs.
William One comment..Ehem.. you didn't get it! I know what date it was, that's why I wrote that, because things have changed in time... "idiot" wasn't necessary
Andres Valdevit Actually gold sellers now are making more than before from the wow game token system. They can offer the gold cheaper and thus people now can pay for subs with tokens cheaper than wow's controlled gold to token equivalent rate.
Hope this guy goes out of business asap cant stand gold farmers. They are a cancer to the game, virtual currency should stay 100% virtual 100% of the time.
An extremely interesting video. A very good experience, this guy may look young but he knows his shit inside and out. Extremely interesting and thought provoking, love the stuff like this.
Adam Hamilton I played WoW for couple hours, each day for 5 days. Its just like this other game that I downloaded for free. Who the hell wants to sit around farming creatures for hours and hours.
professional chinese gold farmer ?? he does nothing lol. he's not farming, he's not selling, he's not hacking. he's just a kid who knows chinese so he googled their ebay, found out they have low prices, and called american sites to buy from chinese but to give him a profit. LOL he sucks
