Quick educational bit for everyone regarding something Tommy said at 1:48 ! That feeling of extreme insatiable hunger on a severe level is known as Hyperphagia, and is actually a major component of people with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS)! I work as a community living support therapist for adults with disabilities and one of my clients has Prader-Willi Syndrome, which many people don’t know about because it is extremely rare! Because of the Hyperphagia that she experiences, her parents need to keep locks on the fridge and pantry in their home (people with PWS usually are unable to live on their own due to their dietary needs). She lacks the specific chemical that tells your brain that you are full, so often she experiences a lack of control when around any food because she has insatiable hunger all the time. There is currently no cure or medication that the FDA has approved for PWS since it is extremely rare (only 1 in 25,000 people). So I just wanted to spread some form of educational awareness for anyone who might be interested 😊

That is very interesting, although I'm pretty sure they aren't affected to that degree. ADHD reduces impulse control and dulls dopamine as well as other neurotransmitters, so the feeling of being satiated is dulled. Very easy to overeat with ADHD, and its comorbid with a lot of eating disorders.

@@belzi87 Prader-Willi Syndrome isn’t an eating disorder, it’s actually a serious genetic disorder that is accompanied by an intellectual disability! People with PWS have a deletion of Chromosome 15, so they also have physical attributes that are key signs of the disability that lead to medical diagnosis. I appreciate your added points about ADHD also being a common diagnosis that overlaps with eating disorders, as impulse control is a huge factor, but that is a separate diagnosis completely and not what my original comment was about. I specifically work with clients with PWS and their families and have seen just how greatly their insatiable hunger affects them and their lives, to the point of them not being able to be left home alone when any food is not locked away. So yes, they are affected to that degree, and sometimes even greater depending on the resources that people with PWS have access to.

I think they meant that Courtney and Tommy aren't affected to the degree that people with PWS are. That condition is a serious disability, that sounds miserable to have to manage. I think the other commenter is saying that there are other reasons the Smosh people may eat past the point of being full, since they did say they can feel full. @@hannahreen

I knew someone with that condition! We felt really bad because she couldn’t understand why she couldn’t eat so her family had to make sure everything was locked and she was supervised when eating so she wouldn’t get sick.

For real, that is such a chaotic cooking/baking style. When I'm browsing recipes and come across one that needs something I don't have, I will simply not make it unless I go get what I need first. Or if there's a legit substitute I can make (like regular milk + lemon juice instead of buttermilk, white sugar + molasses instead of brown sugar, etc.) I'll do that. But just using whatever you happen to have instead of looking for a different recipe that fits what you have? Diabolical.
