Professional Gunsmith Geoff Montgomery demonstrates his process of cutting the Proof Research barrel to length, machining a proper crown and threading for a suppressor adapter on this episode 4 of the Precision Hunting Rifle build. The Thunder Beast CB Muzzle Brake makes for an exceptional addition to an already precise barrel. A quick test fire and review concludes the video and confirms all is well with the build of this fire arm.

Do you not worry about opening up the muzzle area by reducing it and threading it? Would not do that if i wanted Benchrest Accuracy.

Since I moved from Casper, I came across this video a little late. Oh well, I'll send my dad there to get his barrel threaded however.

Great video! Question - Do you make sure the chamber end of the barrel is also running true along with the muzzle end prior to machining the threads and crown? The tail stock can only do so much to align the muzzle end? Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Leon

Do you have a video in which you do the Crowning and threading a barrel for a suppressed hunting Savage Axis 6.5 Creedmoor or a Savage Scout Model 10 .308 win?

Anyone else concerned about how hard it is for him to actually cycle the bolt? Even with an empty chamber?

No barrel crowning ?

It's a "flat" crown with a 60 degree chamfer (flat, since it's going under a suppressor adapter). While difficult to see, at 2:21 I use my 60° Center Reamer (Crown Tool) in a reamer holder in the tailstock to cut it (you can see the chamfer appear). I offer all kinds of crown styles including the popular 11 Degree, Recessed, Hunter, or a combination of any of those. Thanks for watching!!

All that time and then use a quick release on the suppressor.
