Never repeating themselves is pretty much a Band-Maid trademark. The part most fans are waiting for when hearing a new song for the first time is the second verse, because it's always a change-up from the first one.
Ha!! It's actually every 8 or 16 bars (depending on the time signature) where they make change-ups. Try this: tap your foot to the beat of any of their songs, and count each beat .... when you get to 16 you will notice that they do a major switch-up of some part of their music, be it a new riff on the guitar, bass or drums, or a major change of tempo, etc.

@MeRoX Official Yeah, manners is a freaking masterpiece! I can't tell you how much I dislike 'the blues' (actually I love the blues, but most people play it so horribly ... straight 12 bar blues is the most boring form of music on the planet, but when you get a real blues player then it becomes one of the most magic forms of music there is) ... 'Dragon's Cry' is probably one of my least favorite of Band-Maid's songs ... still great, but musically not up to Band-Maid's usual standard of songwriting. When 'Manners' came out I played it and listened to the first 10 seconds or so and it sounded like another 'blues' attempt, so I just clicked 'close' and thought to myself 'nah, not in the mood to be disappointed by Band-Maid right now, maybe later when I'm in a good mood I'll check it out and maybe this time they will surprise me .... then I noticed that long time Band-Maid reactors were going crazy over the song so I decided to give it a listen .... OMG, what at first sounded like was going to be a boring 12 bar blues riff turned into some of the best groove rock I have ever heard ... Kanami has come a long way from her 'Dragon's Cry' attempt at the blues (not that 'Manners' is blues, but it starts off with that feeling and then quickly develops into something unique and wonderful.)

This is not a typical Band-Maid structure. It's written for an Anime opening "Log Horizon". They normally have at least a guitar solo in every song if not more. Check out more songs from their channel. They have a vast range of sounds, arrangements, and styles. There's always something interesting and they never sound the same.

Before you react to their newest stuff I would suggest going back and seeing their older stuff to get a real feel for the band's sound and progress. If you want to start from the beginning you have to go all the way back to their MV - "Thrill". That is Band-Maid at their early debut to the world and the song that launched them into the zeitgeist. That's the song that introduced me to them. They have come a LOOOOOONG way since that song was released in November 2014. They are first and foremost a live band. While their studio MVs give you a great feel for their sound, their live shows and the handful of live MVs give you a great feel for them as a band and that they are the real deal. Freedom, Domination, and Wonderland from their 2020 Line Cube Shibuya concert (and blu-ray DVD) which can be found on the official Band-Maid channel. Welcome to a great journey. Recently they released 2 MV's(Manners and Warning) off their new album that was officially released yesterday (01/20/21).Maybe try a live video off the official Band-Maid channel on YT for starters. I usually recommend Domination live from February 14 2020 to new listeners, but, seriously any of their lives or mv's are great. Very good job!. You have captured in a first listening a great part of their awesomeness. Their songwriting style is actually unbatable, they use to blend almost every kind of music rock (pop, prog, funk, jazz, metal, whatever, even in the same song) and they don´t repeat themselves ever (best second verses and bridges I´ve listen to in my life). I love how saiki utilizes percussive singing more often. She raps more often, too. Actually they're using both Saiki/Miku vocals like another instrument.

As others have pointed out this was indeed written for an anime opening lol! Usually though Kanami, the lead guitarist, does wicked solos ... You listen to get play all those awesome rifts all through the song you wonder how she's going to be able to put in a solo that could be any more interesting than the stuff she's already played, but she does it every time, plays a mind-blowing totally melodic solo more mind-blowing and all those riffs you thought could never be topped!

@@Temporal72 Yeah, that's her. Miku, the other girl with the shaped guitar only started learning to play when she formed the group. She used to do some Idol singing but quickly realized her voice was not strong enough for the kind of music she wanted to play and thus hired Siaki for that role, but since then she has developed both in singing & guitar. The whole band is interesting not only as a band, but as individuals ... one of those very rare bands where not only the band is famous, but every member is also as beloved as the band itself. I grew up ion the 60/70's and I may have known the names of every band member of maybe 2 or 3 bands (Beatles, Queen, Eagles,..?) but even then there was always the one or two members that were more 'known' than the rest, where I just learned the names of the 'lesser' members because I was a fan of the band ... in the case of Band-Maid, I know all their names because they are all interesting talented people (both in their onstage and off stage personas) in a band where their personalities and talents are not pushed to the background in favor of the band or one or two stronger or more talented member. If you stick with Band-Maid I think you'll find that they are a band that goes much deeper than even first appearances suggest (after you get over the Japanese, all-female, maid uniform thing.) Heck, they every form a special band (Band-Maiko) every April 1 (pandemic notwithstanding) to do special songs for their fans as an 'April Fool's Day' present to their fans!

when you think this one is complicated and fast, they gave you crazier anf faster ones in their new album which released recently... As a pro musician, you should dig deeper into the technical side of the song because there are many people liking it.
