I've got to admit, i never watched pros play this game that i've played so casually my whole life, and my tiny monkey brain just couldn't comprehend what i was seeing most of the time. So many things to keep up with, so many actions every second of the match, and that's without mentioning small actions that have big consequences like not having any army of regular soldiers and only have seige weapons and controlling where they shoot, placing small buildings to block enemy units, and my favorite was using animals as scouts in the start of the game.
it's cool you're able to use the phrase 'professional player'. When I was a kid spamming cobra cars I could've never imagined that playing this game could ever be a profession
@@PauxloE No because then he would just get stopped by castles. If you try to fight castles with scorpions you might lose all of them and not even win. So you see, Hera wisely would rather pay the cost of friendly-fire than to do a lot less damage to buildings with scorpions only.
The team had Bohemians, which was kinda funny because Yellow could go full Houfnice's if other players would sling him. He forgot about Chemistry and probably picked Heated Shot. R.I.P
Yeah, thought so as well. They could have easily beat that SO strat with Houfnice's. And then also mass Bohemian monks with Redemption and Hussite Reforms (all Monestary stuff only costs food) -> RIP SO.
This is AOE2 Celt SO hero wet dream, when you have to face multiple opponents but like movie grunts they come at you one at a time in turn and you crush them with superior skills.
Definition of Greed: clicking "Loom" at the 25 (in-game) minute mark, RU-vid video ~16:40. It was a smart play for sure, but risky. Newbie players tend to like to push to the endgame where 800 population vs 200 population obviously would be a crushing win. So Hera knew the beginners would go for late game, and then played the most extreme greed ever (No-loom fast-castle into 4x Town Center? Wow, greediest play I've ever seen). The best chance for the beginners is the unintuitive choice: they had to attack in Castle Age. Hera coming up with the counter to the "obvious" strategy was key here. Furthermore, late-game faster-firing Celt Siege Onager would cut through the map and avoid walls, while being the best unit for ~40 unit army vs a crushing ~400 man unit army from the 4x beginner players. Siege Onager (with +Attack speed from Celts) are probably the only late-game unit who can take 10-to-1 odds like this and come out on top.
Really cool to watch! And compliment to Hera to make it fun and above all explain here and there things despite being busy kicking Chevalier butts. Although I started playing this game in 99 I never played online (just LAN parties back then - I feel old). I was wondering what the platforms are today? Where do I get more info about the AoE leagues / tournaments etc? Would love to get into esport again as a spectator :)
Hera stopped doing what we all did against easy AI when we were children, became a top player at this game, only to start doing the same thing again but to all of us this time around.. Can anybody really blame him?! 11
Hola, eres un genio del AGE, ya no juego pero me encanta ver jugar a los elites como tu. Ahora en adelante veré tus videos cortos y así aprendo ingles!! XD Saludos desde Corrientes-AR
What if you played four noobs but as soon as the game started they sent every single villager after you? How could you possibly defend against a 4x villager brawl?
Hello Hera, a long time ago a friend and I que'd up for ranked 2v2/3v3/4v4 (some team games), que pops and I believe we got a 4v4 game (maybe 3v3 its been a couple years), everything seemed normal at first... other team was being very defensive, and we had a bit of a score lead so our team did a bit of pressure early castle and kept building up to Imp ( I was goth and hoping to get a good eco before I built up a big army) .Then Imp came in and we started our major attack, and something interesting is noticed, for some reason the other team has wonders in each of the bases.... is this some kinda flex? who do they think they are? Well its at that point, and only that point I realized it was quite literally you on the other team as a pocket, and shit gets real. I tried my best to overwhelm you with goth spam, I would even argue I had your team a little nervous at one point (I think one of your edges was starting to cave in), then after about 30 mins of non stop aggression, the time came for your teams counter attack, and we all got decimated. I remember me and my buddy checking the recent players after/looking everything up, and sure enough it was the #1 ranked Hera on that team. Legend. Will never forget that beating lol.
Yeah love those games ! You are realy amazing ! Awesome micro WHILE macroing ! This is beautiful, you are very talented and you legit deserve your reputation for to be one of the best player ! Best greetings from Switzerland and I wish to you to have the best continuation ! :D
i love how hera always says "i kinda want XY" and all the time it turns out to be the perfect call. and i hate it's the opposite when i feel i kinda want this or that 11
Best strategy for the beginers is to attack right away with 3 villagers+ scout each to deny access to resources while "building with one villager back at the base
I've been playing AOE since '05 but I only play against the pc. I just recently started watching AOE games on youtube and man how the heck do you move your mouse curser so fast? 😂😂
Purple make you Celts from Wexford, Ireland. They're the only team in the country that have that in one of their two GAA jersey colours. Imagine if they had used this strategy of using onagers against the Anglo-Norman invasion of the 12th century.
Got Xbox ultimate game pass so I can play Starfield on my macbook and then I saw I could play AOE2. I remember "playing" it when I was like 8 and loved it. Playing is in quotes because I probably had no idea what I was doing but still had a blast. So now I started playing again through Xbox techinally
Nice to see that buildings are not melting that quickly under so many catapults attacks. What I don't like in such a game is that there is no friendly fire. If your catapults are hitting also your targets they should also be destroyed. That would limit such builds where you win game with only siege machines :) Good game.
Me and my friend on xbox just found this game we have become really addicted and enjoy it a lot often play vs Insane bots (and often lose) You should do a 2v1 with us! XD
Youre right Hera! These guys have a perfect example of AOE greatness and will most definitely examine and attempt to replicate this. Maybe they will come and seek revenge some day?
Now out of curiosity : when faced with this kind of deathball how would a light cav spam fare? Maybe like 2 players sending waves of hussars to hold you out while the other 2 build some serious eco / army to raid you to death?
Bombard Cannons / Hoofneice (I know it’s spelled wrong lol) is my thought, that an maybe having one team spam trash an another circle around with cav 1v1 tho… it’d b totally smashed haha
