Love this movie. I think if the movie came out today the poker scene would play out more accurately since poker is way more mainstream than it was in '92.
Fun fact: I played at the Bellagio and had a straight flush with the 10 J of spades. The opponent had 5 6 of spades. There was a big wow around the table when it happened. I will never be part of that again. It wasn't that much money, $1-3 with a couple hundred. But to have been part of it is cool.
The only thing I will say is at 1:27 when Cage “sees the bet of 200 and raises another 100” you said it’s not a legal raise because they must at least double the original bet. We don’t know what the blinds are so if the blinds were 50/100 then the bet sizing makes sense (original raiser makes it 200… cage with the min reraise to 300). Other then that I think you did a great job Marle and look forward to more of these.
Was at mgm national harbor the other day and the bad beat hit. Straight flush over straight flush on the flop. Unfortunately I wasn’t at the table and took my own bad beat with kk to AA at the exact same time
The increment is 200 so he would need to raise by that increment, which in this case is the same as doubling. But if he did that, the next person could legally raise from 400 to 600. Sincerely, That Guy
Try that at the Aria... I see it and raise $200, and raise $200, and raise $2000..... STRING BET!!! Nothing like a good ol splash pot game!!! Welp since you confident hey baby bring me the deed to the house!!!! LOL
I'm a film critic. I always liked this movie too. I think this actually came out before you were born, or you were VERY little when it did. I wonder if some of the "rules" of poker were different then. SO maybe they did say, "See it" and such in those times. Obviously, as you pointed out, many of what you saw would not happen in real life, but the scene would not work if they mimic real life. I would love to see you do more movies like this. Maybe "Rounders" next. :)
Marle Marle Marle! I love your wild crazy sense of humor; BUT this time you are Way OFF! THIS IS OLD SCHOOL 5 CARD DRAW! 1. Everyone held their cards ar their chest. 2. When you "see" a bet you match the bet HOWEVER, you have the option to raise- any amount! 3. Everyone talks during the hand. Elvis was actually warning him. 4. Splashing the Pot was normal! 5. Adding on chips. In certain types of games this was normal. 6. In the sickest games in the Old West someone could crazy raise you and you had a pre-arranged time to borrow more money. Watch Big Hand for s Little Lady. Finally, it wasn't a Slow Roll!!! It was called Pausing For Dramatic Effect❤. You need to watch Old Westerns and Classic Movies😊.
Nice video...wow this has to be one of the worst poker scenes in a movie ever...How the hell did they allow this? I guess they didn't even care about realism.
