There's an adorable kid locally who grows their own loofah and makes them into loofah soap to sell at local markets. It's the cutest thing because they get so excited to tell you about the process.
I don’t know if it’s the overall step up in quality or RU-vid promoting the channel - but I’ve watched every soapmas video within the hour it’s posted and I’m LIVING for it! Katie has proper stepped up her game production wise, the editing/cutting is hysterical!
CHALLENGE FOR YOU: So when my daughter was in fourth grade some 20 years ago they had to make a pioneer project and then they were to sell those items. We decided to make lavender soap, but sticking to the pioneer theme, there was no way we were going to make melt and pour. The only recipe I could find was tallow soap with kidney suet. What the hell is that? Oh the fat around the cows kidneys! Lol ok so off to the butcher I go. I challenge you to make old fashioned soap. Mine took 2 tries, because I did not use a quality enough pan and it was not cooking the fat evenly. Imagine my surprise when the soap had to be wrapped in towels and insulated for a month to cure! It turned out beautiful and the batch lasted for many years. It smelled beautiful. Can you do a video making this? Hugs Lisa
In my country you can find in the market old fashioned pork fat and charcoal soap and it is just the best, doesn't smell that great but it's the best thing ever for the hair. But I've never heard of cow fat soap huh
I’m a pre-k teacher and for last Mother’s Day, I helped my kids make soap bars for their moms. Got a hypoallergenic soap base, tons of color choices and 3 scent choices. They got to choose the shape too. They loved it! Your channel was a big motivator for me, and I hope to do it again on Mother’s Day coming up.
I tried that bar to liquid soap thing once. I ended up with a real good bottle of slime that was both too thick for the pump and yet didn't lather anymore.
Also, "you are out of antibacterial gel now? Going to a shop and buying a new one will take too long, so make your own right away, it'll be ready to use tomorrow!!!" 🤦♀️ Logic? Never heard of it... 😅👍
Hearing your best friend Caroline in the background gave me an idea for a soap collection (although it's probably been done before by somebody or another). the collection could be called "Perfect Pairings" and could be a loaf or slab with two distinct layers of soap that have fragrances or ingredients that compliment each other! Like half apple /half cinnamon, or half oatmeal/half raisin (is there even a raisin fragrance oil?), or half marshmallow /half fudge. You get the idea. And you could put half of one type of imbed on one side of the frosting (or side of the top of the bar if no frosting) and half of another kind on the other side! And maybe you could scrape the bottom layer in a neat design to make the two layers look like they are interlocking like a puzzle. You could even design some to depict fictional best friend characters (like Anne and Diana!) and come up with colors and fragrances to reflect the individual character. Hmmm...what fragrance would Anne (with an 'E', thank you) be? Diana's could be raspberry cordial! 😂
I love Soapmas so much! Also I had an idea for a collection of soaps - literary heroines! So Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, the Bennet Sisters, etc etc. Thank you for bringing so much joy to the world 🥰
I'm fairly sure the blue goop in the last video was alginate, which is mostly used for detailed mouth molds in dentistry. It's fantastic for making molds of body parts, since it's very safe, sets very quickly and takes VERY detailed impressions
I was thinking that was some fancy alginate lol. We get the pink alginate that is apparently supposed to taste like mint, but it just tastes like toothpaste flavored play doh lol. Oh, a good alginate tip, if you ever gloop any on your scrubs, DON'T WIPE. Just let it set, and peel it off!
@@lizthedisjointedzebra692 I took a moldmaking and casting class, and even though you can get unflavored alginate for Art Purposes, our teacher bought dental alginate in bulk because it was cheaper than the stuff Meant For Art.
@@manaownsmysoul Oh yeah. It does the exact same thing, so I don't know why it costs more for art lol. I mean, we make a lot of stuff that has to have PERFECT dimensions(crowns, dentures, partials, etc), so it's still super high quality. Who knows!
Yeah but the shape of the ear soap didn't even match the shape of the mold it "came from". The soap had a much more pronounced ear canal than the mold.
Oh man I wish I could remember if it was an infomercial or what, but I remember when I was a teenager there was this liquid soap dispenser specifically designed to put a bar soap in to turn to slimy liquid soap. It had pebbles or marbles in it that supposedly helped. 😂 I’m with you, get the product you intend to use 🤦🏻♀️😱
Katie, you should review soap advertisements! I bet you can find or know of some ridiculous ones or maybe some really old ones that would be fun to react to.
Aw man, you took me on a trip down memory lane! As a young kid I tried to make "my own soap" from grated bar soap 🤣 ...it came out like cottage cheese 😆😆😆 So grateful to have you in my life now 💓
Omg while you were talking about dial and soap crafts that are useless, I was thinking about Jenna Marbles and her making the Irish Spring dog bed and making the soap hand. How fun would it be to have a RU-vidr themed soap month? Like YOUR fav youtubers or in general, favorite youtubers. It'd be so cute to see them or elements of them as little soaps! lol
Your "Soap Maker Reacts" video was the first video that introduced me to this channel in the spring. I have been watching your videos since and I love to watch your reactions to the soap making hacks.
Katie… you are such a treasure. I absolutely LOVE all of your videos and get SO excited to purchase from each of your monthly collections! Would you ever consider making comic book super hero collections? Marvel/DC? Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America, Any of the X-men, The Flash? The vibrant color combinations and designs would be endless! I think I would literally buy every single one!
That's also , probably, a good way for marvel to decide to claim copyright infringement and take all your money made from said soaps. (Disney doesn't play)
I did actually use activated charcoal for coloring my melt and pour soap and it turned out great but layering it was terrible. Even with alcohol spraying on top it is too brittle when it comes to cutting the soap bars. Perhaps it's better for marbling techniques.
In my experience it works better for clear melt and pour because you can get a much deeper black color with less charcoal. Only like a half a teaspoon will go a very long way
I think you should do a react video to other soapmaking videos on tiktok from other soapmakers 😍😍 More than half of these made me laugh and cringe!! Your reactions are ALWAYS 1000% the best and on point 😂😂😂😂
This showed up in my recommended and while I’m not a soap maker I do appreciate good humor. Subbed, you’re hilarious! Also I love that instead of judging too harshly that you were willing to throw out suggestions. Don’t see that too often anymore. Keep up the good work :)
Every activated charcoal I’ve used in my soaps has been a microfine powder, disperses well, and turns my soap black. Maybe there are different types? But I use it for all my black colorant needs :)
Same, I use a powered version, and the stuff floats in the air, have to be careful scooping it and not breathing it in. But works great in CP soap for me! Had not tried a MP yet, but with how fine it is, I would think it would work just as well.
Hey just a little info tidbit, for the ear one they said they used alginate which isn't silicone. We used it in my sculpture class to make super detailed casts of our faces and hands etc. I thought you might find it interesting to look up :) Fun video!
Lol I have done the bar into liquid soap before. It was at the beginning of Covid and soap was hard to come by and we had a ton of bar soap. It definitely did come out kinda gloopy but it got the job done!
Katie I have been watching you for years ever since you were in the shed with the cat and your little brothers and sisters sometimes helping. Always a treat. Keep up the awesome work. Love your videos. Merry Christmas to you and your whole family.
sad to say that havent watched your videos in a while but i used to watch them religiously so I loveeee to hear that your Best friend Caroline is now fully apart of the company as your personal assistant🤠🥰😁 so happy for your growing company and ive always loved your creativity, beautiful soaps, and wonderful positivity🤩🤩
The only one that looked decent was the loofah soap. I watched another soaper that colored the loofah before she poured the soap over it. That was awesome
Can we all just appreciate that 12 days of soapmas is like an interactive advent calendar? Everyday I'm like what's its gonna be this time? Lol Love you Katie ♥️ Merry Christmas
Katie love, love your videos. You are the inspiration for me making lotion bars. Keep up the good work. P.S. my daughter-in-law has bought some of your soaps and she loves them. And she watches you also. ❤❤
Oh yay! I'm pretty sure one of your other reacting videos was the first thing I ever saw of you and what initially made me interested to watch more of you. When I started watching this channel I had absolutely no interest in actually buying (or making) any of the soaps, I just loved watching you.
3:29 when you said “some diys are just like why”… I feel this every time is see a diy laundry soap vid. ESPECIALLY when they start dumping in fragrance or EO’s. JUST GO BUY SOME GAIN OR PUREX UNSCENTED!
Another way to make travel soap sheets is to use water soluble embroidery stabilizer. It’s a paper that dissolves in water. You just spread a thin layer of liquid soap on the sheet, let it dry (10-20 minutes), then cut the sheet in to small squares (or rectangles, circles, stars, kitty cats, whatever you want). Easy and quick travel soap sheets that dissolve in water.
My first thought with the dial one was for tattoos. When you get a tattoo, you have to wash it with antibacterial liquid soap, specifically dial. So it would be helpful to be able to do that for tattoos
I use activated charcoal to color things black all the time, they come out pretty dark without huge amounts, but that's because I mix it in with rubbing alcohol and then let it sit for a bit for some of the alcohol to dissipate.
Your “Soaper reacts” video was how I first found your channel. I’ve since watched your academy videos, joined your frosting club, and bought soaps and lotions from you. Your videos are so fun and I totally relate to your personality. Lol. The first time I heard you say scrapey scrapey I knew you were a kindred spirit as I also use these kinds of verbs. Lol. When using the cardboard baler at work I’ve always said crushy crushy smashy smashy. 🤣
I actually love the smell of the original dial bar and we use it in the medical field a lot- especially with patients after surgery. I also use liquid dial for new piercings.
The first video I saw of yours was a reaction video. The one where they put a bunch of cinnamon into the soap. I enjoy all of your videos and I'd definitely watch more reaction ones.
Love your videos! Watched all of them and even though they come up while I'm asleep (I'm from South Africa) I watch them as soon as a wake up. Love your humor and soaps! ✌️😊
