Really enjoy the new intros on these later episodes, its nice to get a lead into the convos. And this convo was specifically really encouraging to me, I've always struggled to get meaningful critique, even in educational settings. But this gives me a little more encouragement to directly seek out critique from others.

I love this conversation and how direct Maciej is. He doesn't beat around the bush and yet is balanced and respectful in his opinions. That's something you don't see very often these days.

@Art Cafe , Totally agree with Alessandro, but unfortunately in 2020 if you are self-taught artist is very hard to be considered from recruiters/hr in the games or movie industry , a lot of industries prefer to offer a chance to work to people that came from some specific college or university. Doesn't matter how good you are if you are not came from that institutes. Another one problem is about the blind recruitment done by the HR and Recruitment agency

In the games industry it's very common to hire self taught artists. I am self taught and I found my first job last year. Same with 2 of my co-workers this year. If your portfolio is ace and you fit well into the team, being self taught or not doesn't matter (except for some visa cases)

@@forestpump3 oh cool, I am also an aspiring artist, would it be okay to look at your portfolio that got you the job?

About making an affort before asking, nice topic. I meet people in game industry daily that are just asking on FB post how to make a game in UE4 and how long does it take. hahahahah, before even trying to open UE4 I'm pretty sure!

thanks Maciej for not giving the whole political part of the conversation a chance to go into one (obvious these days) direction and staying neutral.

I try to stay out of it (I would honestly completely not mention any politics at all if it wasn't hitting home so close). I'm an immigrant in this coutry, paying attention to whats going on and learning.

@@MaciejKuciara I get ya. Politics is everywhere and unfortunately it is starting to penetrate creative industries too. I also grew up in Poland, takze pozdro bracie i dzieki za ciekawy wywiad.

I don't like politics at all but in a sense everything is political, in a sense your approach to art is political, if your are liberal or conservative in terms of what you create, if you just want to fit in and accept without criticism what is good or bad for the community or if u want to push boundaries is a political choice . We can probably see the art community as a micro cosmos of society and its rules with same psychological dynamics.
