Are you suggesting different races have different IQ? That's the dumbest argument you can bring up. No science behind it. What I think is fair and should be debatable is cultural differences. If you look at the most successful races, it's Asians. Indians are the top, followed by Chinese. They out earn white significantly. It's reasonable to argue that their cultures are very education-focused.
@slipperysteve8
@slipperysteve8 55 минут назад
@dailyrant4068 could we argue that these cultural differences lead to different IQ outcomes? And currently cultures tend to differ across racial lines? So race might not be causal, but correlated?
@dailyrant4068
@dailyrant4068 47 минут назад
@@slipperysteve8 No? IQ doesn't change based on culture. If you work in IT, you'd know the quality of Indians in US vs in India are also vastly different. The more "Americanized" the Indian programmer is, the more likely he/she delivers results. This is something Indians themselves acknowledge. So clearly, something is different about the Asians in US that makes them the highest earning group.

I came from a family with one income and 8 kids, 6 younger than me. I worked my way through a 2 year college program. In the same program, a gal had a brand new mustang that she had just bought. She was Mexican descent, both of her parents were teachers and they paid for her college and she lived at home and drove to school. She did not have to work but because she was Mexican descent, she got a grant for her college. She took that money and bought the mustang car. I could not get a grant for school even though my parents could not afford to help me but I could get loan which I did, and got a job at the college and took the bus to and from college. Saying _EVERYBODY_ "should be" able to get the same education, is understandable for K-12, but after that, you MUST work to be able to do that. If your grades suck, too bad!
@Jseagle1989
@Jseagle1989 2 часа назад
I'd disagree. Would you say that everyone has the same inherently acquired intellect? If not, then that means someone had an advantage that others had to work harder to get to the same level. It's essential to saying "Hey, I know you're having a physically (handicap) challenging time running, but I'm going to judge you by your ability to do so." So though he can work hard to get the strength to be able to eventually, but it doesn't still negate that the non- handicap individual has a head start. Now, associate that with mental intellect. I say that there should be a standard of help, and others aren't allowed to acquire additional advantages to get a leg up.

I found out the folks in customer service were getting bonuses because of survey scores and we in operations were not. I was bitching to my father when I got home about how that was not fair. There is an inequality among teachers. When my daughter was in 3rd grade her teacher tried saying she was cognitively struggling at her grade level. The special ed teacher gave my daughter some exams in which she fell short in one item. She didn't know what a long division symbol was and the special ed teacher had to inform her teacher that should have been covered already. It was the teacher who was withholding knowledge from the students. Teachers often get rushed at the end of the school year. I heard them gasp how far behind they were through the years. Teachers blame students and their parents when this happens. They make claims that a student made them spend more time on the subjects. That is a lie. The teacher spends excess time on each skill because she doesn't like teaching new skills. It is easier for a teacher to hand students another work paper like the work paper she gave them the last week than it is to start a new skill. Kids get bored and start tuning out the teacher. Learning isn't exciting when you spend weeks on one skill. The teacher claims "Billy" hasn't got it yet so it is he who is slowing progress. No it isn't. It is the teacher. The teacher should have created an intervention the minute it was clear "Billie" was really not getting something.

This is the sort of thing I wish society would address. Not every teacher is a hero. Each year, my kids have maybe 1 teacher they really like, and several that do 2/3 of their job. I appreciate the patience it takes to be a teacher, I really do. Both kids are now in high school and there isn't a week that goes by in which they didn't have a substitute teacher for this or that class. There's a big reason home schooled kids are way ahead and only work 2-3 hours a day to be way ahead.

I think people are jealous because other people come from a more privileged background but they don’t understand how much work other people had to do to gain their wealth. The girl wants to attribute people’s wealth to slaves but not everyone owned slaves, so in all reality she should attribute people’s wealth to workers in their “business” or at least associate people’s wealth to the work their employees have done. Which should not have bad connotations because employees should get paid a reasonable wage or salary, while the business owner reaps the profits of a business or goes into debt to keep the business going.

One of the big misconceptions I think and maybe I'm wrong but it's not where you go to college. It's where you graduate from. My kids will go to community college for the first 2 years because a lot of the classes are the same. You need to get your prerequisites out for your major community college. Can do that at a very inexpensive price if you go to community college or some state school and then you go to Harvard and graduate from Harvard. Nobody pays attention to what you did before that. They only care about where you got that degree from

The young people in University these days not having the tools needed to go further in University is the fault of the K-12 system that has been created. They all seem to fall short in the basics when they enter a University. Many moons ago when I went from High school to University I knew without a doubt I was given the tools to take what I learned further. Then there was also a 13'th grade where the focus was on what direction you personally wanted to take and the Curriculum was designed for that goal. Mine was the sciences so I had to take advanced algebra, functions and relations, introduction to the Calculus. Then I also had to take advanced Physics and advanced Chemistry. With the tools I learned there the first 2 years were a breeze the next 2 years I found myself studying more than I ever had before. Study was done through books then also. so it meant reading hours and hours of texts and studies and Notebooks by people that came well before you that created some of the theories I had to research. Today it seems the Young people going to Universities were set up to fail by the very school system that taught them. They were let down with a education system that forgot what mattered and chose to fill their heads with useless out in the world ideas and fell short in actual education that would have set them up for success assuming you can retain the tools given. I was witness to the beginnings of all of this as a University TA I saw young people come in that had difficulty grasping things like trig, and any real advanced algebra, unable to even so much as graph a simple function. And could not understand radicals or exponents let alone solve an algebraic problem. They were being let down even then. Many it took a year of tutor classes to catch up well enough to carry on. Young people these days also lack any real direction. No one there to guide them in their journey into the real world no one seemed to care in school or at home to figure out what problems they may have in school. Parents were to busy trying to maintain a family unit to be able to have the time for a nice sit down have a chat dinner. Something that was demanded every day in my home as a young adult. These are the failures in my humble opinion that put young people in the position to fail at what they try.

You know what is really fascinating to me? The kids in this video are talking about another kid or the hypothetical kid coming from a poor family. However, when it comes to college since when is it your parents responsibility to pay for it even if they have money? Look at Rockefeller. He didn’t give his kids anything at all. Plenty of rich people do not give their kid one dollar after they turn 18 and that includes college. It’s not your parents responsibility to pay for your education past 12th grade.

Getting a loan to sit through this class is a waste of money. It’s like teaching little children things instead of really learning core subjects to work in the real world. The world is not fare; life is not fare. Then what are you trying to learn from this class other than wasting money? 🤔 they all have privileges since they are able to attend college/uni while billions of people like me couldn’t. If I’m no complaining then they should not be complaining about anything in life?

We need to face the fact that everyone is not born equal. There are genetic differences between individuals that will have an effect on their life outcomes. That's OK. We should not try to compensate people for their short falls.

We are getting into a culture that punishes people for doing the right things and being wealthy or being smarter. Or having good parents. Tough luck. We should teach again that having a two parent household is ideal and love and discipline is key. But now society says anything goes. .
