The ultimate dance contest is here! RWBY Volume 3, Chapter 12: End of the Beginning I own nothing used in the video, RWBY is owned by Rooster Teeth. I am posting this as fan for no profit for fans.
Dude Ozpin is such a fucking chad, the Ozpin fight we were waiting for for 3 seasons finally came (but it was 30 seconds ugh) and it was at the beginning of the season 3 finale, truly the best way to start an episode.
+Logan Snider Or....maybe a DVD/Blueray extra....maybe? hopefully? I mean they did confirm that Sun's and Neptune's double fight was cut and that it involved more water.
+Steven Fly Well, he's got Maiden-level time powers here which is a bit extreme for a semblance, then random force field because why not when everyone else has exactly one ability by default . . . plus he's named after the Wizard of Oz. And being apparently older than he looks. But yeah, I meant "this" to refer to the fight in general. That ain't dust and semblance-level BS going on here.
it always picked my interested when oz spoke to phirrah sying that the fairy til of the seasons started when he was a boy... and she said "you are not that old professor" or something like, that and the fact that Salem knows Oz, there are some piece missing, but i have some dumb theory in my mind that i refuse to post over the internet for now.
okay so, the dragon was frozen already before coming back to lif,e i imagine that before that was a wasteland where there was a war or something, and summer rose froze the dragon, she is the "honest small soul" that the narrator/salem talks about, and some other stuff like that,
A quote from Markiplier: "Wow, it was only thirty seconds, but it was the greatest thirty seconds of my life. Just like the first time I had - never mind." *awkward cough*
I love how much of a badass Ozpin is in this scene. He's no longer in his prime as a magical warrior (It is implied that his skills as a warrior became even sharper though), but he still wipes the floor with Cinder in this scene. He didn't make a single facial expression, not a single grunt, and he didn't even use much magic, but he still was beating the life out of Cinder. Just wish Ozpin fights had more than just 30 seconds of screentime
This is so cool... The animation looks like it's out of a videogame. Their fighting styles are also very particular. Cinder's fighting is nimble and brutal, while Ozpin's looks more calculated.
When you realize the characters in RWBY are based off of fairy tales, and that Cinder is based off of Cinderella (wears glass shoes and attacks with glass), and that Ozpin is based off of The Wizard of Oz (great and powerful, wise), so essentially, this is Cinderella vs Oz.
Nemasis Demarini and then Little red riding hood took revenge for cross dressing Achilles by unleashing the power of her Silver eyes upon badass Cinderella😂😂
+Lyvens Narcisse I'm 115% sure he won that clash at the end of the fight, and cinder just ran like a wuss. he probably went into a self-imposed exile though. like yoda.
ainsley toledo a how did she manage to get away if he was wining b how come we don't see him then and c why is cinder even fighting some one she cent beat
Ok I'm willing to accept that Cinder killed Ozpin but I want to know exactly how she did it. He was kicking her ass how did he loose? I need a flashback to the rest of this fight.
@@martom_x9977 Yet it wasnt Ozpins full potential. The magic cinder used was ozpins. He gave like 75-90% of his magic to his doughters who passed it even further until cinder stole it. so yeah, ozpin is stronger then all 4 maidens magic combined. since, well, its his. though i dont think he can get it back, but i hope he does ngl.
Oz - the first and last Wizard of Time Gave all his magic to the Maidens of the Seasons But didn’t give all knowledge - like a man behind the curtain or a person playing cards: you give only what you lose, only to win it all back Oz is still the wizard of Time, an immortal soul with centuries of knowledge While hindered by needing a new body and relearning everything, like the Avatar, has the accumulation of all the past Oz The only way he loses if all life is destroyed, cause there will be no suitable body But he has died before, he only has to wait As the Last Time Lor- I mean Wizard of Time, his weakness is ironically time itself
She wasn't trying with Pyrrha though i do think she was a bit tired. Even though Ozpin ultimately died, keep in mind that he created the Maidens (meaning that he knows the full extent of what they can do) and that despite the fact that he's way weaker here compared to his prime, he still is ridicolously OP (and again, he used to be EVEN STRONGER than what's shown here, the only one who's confirmed to be capable of defeating Ozpin in his prime is Salem, unless Salem fought him after the creation of the Maidens)
I would like to point out a theory someone made that Ozpin was the king who unified the kingdoms of Remnant. If that's true then that means he is beyond the power of anyone we have ever seen in this show.
Considering he's someone who lived for entire millenia by involuntarily switching bodies anytime he dies, it's very likely that Ozpin had more influence over Remnant's history than we've been told about, so him being the king is definetly plausible.
Well, update since Volume 6 revealed some details about him: Ozpin (well, Ozma, since thats his real name) and Salem had around the same power level in their prime (possibly with Ozma being stronger considering his status as a legendary warrior in the previous world) but he lost because Salem was cursed with invincibility. So Salem wasn't exactly when Ozma was in his prime, she just wore him out because nothing except the gods (and possibly the relics) can kill her.
Ozpin is much better in combat experience. Cinder only won because of her maiden powers she stole. But the fact that Ozpin was able to fight and push a maiden to use the top of her powers is astounding.
Ozpin never grunt, gotten hit or change face expressions during this fight. The only time he got hit was by that giant all out laser beam and got incinerated instantly.
I was waiting three seasons to see Ozpin fight, and when he did, he fought against that bitch Cinder, and it was only for 30 seconds... Best! 30!! Seconds!!! EVAH!!!!
Oni the Storm Demon and he was kicking her ass, he has way better combat experience, Cinder only won because of her maiden powers. The fact that Ozpin was able to push her and fight her to use that super powerful beam is astounding.
Kiki Black when you have maiden powers it changes so many things, like you said when Cinder is trained my Salem for about a dozen years or so and Ozpin has been around for thousands shows that maiden powers puts you on a whole new level and Ozpin was kicking the maiden’s ass. You can’t change my mind
MattMatrixJohnson thst was when Ozpin was Ozma. But since then he’s lost them when he tried to kill Salem. So now he’s just a really skilled fighter with little magic.
It's funny how LITTLE Cinder knew about what she was fighting then. A maiden literally fighting against the immortal CREATOR of the Maidens, one of the 2 true magic users - she only set him back for a few months.
This is my favorite fight in all of Rwby. The way the fight syncs with the music, and we finally get to see how Professor Ozpin fights, and especially to the buildup of him face to face to the most powerful being(before knowing about Salem), and he fought like a boss. He was whooping Cinder’s ass to the point where she had to use her deepest and most powerful maiden powers. Such an amazing 33 second fight.
I feel like Salem got involved, consider how well Pyrrha did against Cinder, comparatively, and how utterly absurdly OP Ozpin seems here, I don't think Cinder stood much of a chance.
Well, Cinder was kind of just toying with Pyrrha, as you can see her often take breaks to just smirk and smile at how futile the fight was. She ain't doing none of that with Ozpin doe, in fact, right before the 64 ULTRA MEGA COMBO, just as he runs into the screen, you can see a hint of a smile, but i definitely agree that Salem might have helped Cinder, considering she couldn't land a single hit on his shit
Well, I presume Cinder wanted to drag out that fight with Pyrrha, and therefore toyed with her... After all, Grimm are drawn to negative emotions, and acts of voilence... And it just so happens a fight between her and Pyrrha would draw that giant Dragon to the tower, presumably accomplishing Cinder's goal in the process.
I feel like Pyrrha actually got a hit or two in there. Cinder underestimated Pyrrha's semblance. She sent two large metal pieces right towards Cinder, which took her by surprise.
He had her on her back foot the entire fight. She had the power of a god damned maiden and he had her on her back foot.... For the love of god what is that man?
You think this is ridicolous? Well, let me tell you this fact, Ozpin used to be WAY more powerful than this in his prime. He also created the Maidens (which is what weakened him)
I just realized; Ozpin has the shield, and Cinder has the Kamehameha, but who's on the offensive? Ozpin. Ozpin is leading the fight when he has the only defensive power. Holy...
We're talking about a wizard who's been living for millenia. And this isn't even Ozpin in his prime, he's a lot weaker here than he used to be (thanks to using a lot of power to create the Maidens, and his powers dwindling for some reason)
After some of what I've seen in the following Volumes, I'm beginning to think Ozpin let himself be killed. If it became apparent to him that Cinder's mission was to kill him, but he had already secured his relic, then a tactical retreat through his reincarnation could have been the right choice. A gamble definitely, but it definitely got Cinder and Salem off his back for a short time.
+Yoshida Shouyou I mean if his inner circle of maiden coverups wasn't blatantly running on a Wizard of Oz theme, there would be room for doubt. But since it totally is running on a Wizard of Oz theme it's kinda hard to not think that anymore.
I was replaying the video multiple times. What semblance does Ozpin have? Is it semblance to alter time? He just broke all the ice dust cinder made. And that forcefield, where the heck did that come from?
+Arielle Tolome Well, considering that Ozpin was moving so fast and has a time theme in his office, yeah it makes sense that his semblance is time manipulation.
+TaffE McE There's really no reason for Qrow to bring up an entirely different legend on the spot when he's got the maiden one to fall back on. Ruby is almost definitely not a maiden, and is something completely different. None of the maidens have eyes that glow THAT much . . .
“We live in fear that we might fail, Fear that we’ll succeed, fear that we may not provide the things our loved ones need. But our greatest fear will be realized If we fall and lose ourselves to fear We become what we feared all our lives.”
It's been 4 years and still no one has understood how ozpin didn't lose... "The tower cannot fall." is the reason he sacrificed himself, why else do you think Cinder thought she had enough time to fire a charging beam and Ozpin went directly for it with a shield?
chaosXpert That fight was mediocre. The only fight from after vol 3 that was good is Qrow vs Tyrian, most are trash with a handful of mediocricy thrown in.
@@universalcerberus5863 3 years later and they still don't have the mind to hire a good choreographer. The story's decent and the characters are pretty likeable, but the lack of rhythm and actual consistency in the fight scenes drags the series down SO MUCH
You know Ozpin's a boss when he forced Cinder on the defensive, as well as force her to use all her Maiden powers to overcome his defence and offensive assault, in literally 30 seconds. She quickly realised she was f*cked unless she stopped him with one all-out blast of power, and even then Ozpin's defence help up for a second against the full direct force of a Maiden's power. In almost every other fight she likes to toy with people, mocking and belittling them. Not against Ozpin though, she quickly shut her mouth when he was whooping her ass, and all he had was an extendable walking stick.
All of these people saying Ozpin escaped or that he beat Cinder in the new comments. The newer volumes confirm that he DIED in this battle. He didn't escape or defeat Cinder or anything, he just gave in. Did he hold back? Yes. Why? Umm, the guy can reincarnate so he doesn't actually "die". He knows this, and it's likely that Salem knows it seeing as though she talks about him at the finale of Volume 3. Cinder was probably left in the dark about the whole "Ozpin doesn't really die" deal. I think Ozpin was only trying to stall until Glenda, Qrow, Ironwood, etc. got there. I think he realized that backup wasn't on the way and so he tried to get Cinder to wear herself down. Seeing as though she could have just did to Pyrrha what she had done to Ozpin and *not* doing that kinda says that she was indeed worn down. In short, Ozpin "died" willingly. He probably didn't think it ideal to have to reincarnate into some random being but he did what he had to do.
Well he also said his power was dwindling, and it shows in his fight with Hazel, young host body or not. That being said, he must have used a ridiculous amount of energy trying to charge through her last attack, which ended up killing him anyways.
He didn’t. Either Kill the Fall Maiden or Weaken the Fall Maiden, cut your losses and reincarnate. The Relic is well hidden in Beacon according to Ozpin. Either way, it’s a Oz-Win for Ozpin.
You know, maybe Cinder didn't *defeat* Ozpin, per se. I think Ozpin used the a lot of magic to protect himself from Cinder's attack and he survived, however, that last attack forced that entire place to cave in and Ozpin didn't have enough strength to survive and he was crushed to death. Hence why Salem also hasn't found the relic there because it's buried underneath a moutain of rubble.
Fun fact. For something to be fast enough to create a visible afterimage, it must move at least 2235 miles per hour. For somethign to be fast enuogh to be invisible to the human eye, it must move at least 38146 miles per hour, just shy of fifty times the speed of sound.
Yeah I know that, but I wanna see how he loses or escapes or whatever. Like I just don't want a 30 second Ozpin fight, I wanna see the rest of this fight! DX
I agree and also what happened to Ruby and that wyvern looking grim and how it got frozen after that light. Still cliffhangers are annoying, now we viewers got to wait another year.
Alex Mansfield Or could've taken the maiden's powers since it's was the wizard's gift to the maidens and the world. If he is the same wizard of course.
+TaffE McE after watching this you cant think he "got defeated" to me it looked like he was playing with cinder the biggest thing he did was make a shield we can assume he can do far more than that he probly dipped to do some secret ozpin stuff
He's lived for millenia and is the creator of the Maidens. Only thing that handicapped Ozpin here was his dwindling power. If he was in his prime, Cinder would have been done for in seconds.
I am still incredibly salty that they let Ozpin die offscreen... he was the Dumbledore of the series, Gandalf, Obi-Wan, etc. the wise old mentor figure. If he had to die, the least they could have done was let us see how it happened, whether he was coming back or not.
This fight is really bullshit in hindsight. You have a man in his prime and who is -full stop IS- the most experienced fighter in history, who also has magic and a high tech cane that can do all kinds of bs asspull powers…and he lost to a maiden who barely has time to grasp her ability’s. Who lost to ppl weaker than ozpin repeatedly. Like this was cinders only win for like 5 years.
@@liamblack4044 As a huntsman, yes he is very strong. But, compared to what he was before? Not only was he a knight/hero who was a master in swordsmanship, but he was also one of the most powerful mages in the world, being on par with Salem. They fought for hours in their house, and Salem only won because she was physically immortal. Currently, he may be older and more experienced as a fighter/huntsman, but again, he isn't as strong as he was back then as a knight-mage-hero-thing.
This while time when I thought Ozpin blocked all those glass shards, I thought it was just some sort of shield ball. I JUST NOW realized it's him hitting each individual shard. DAYUM
a real shame for sure. with the recent penny vs cinder, just cemented how underwhelming the maidens have become in comparison with volume 3 Cinder... hell, even amber was more entertaining to watch.
Ruphite Bit late but the average Assault Rifle on full auto fires anywhere from 600-900 rounds per minute on average, which works out to 10 or so rounds per second. Oz with his Time Dilation maxed out can hit you 900% more in a single second than an automatic rifle.
What's scary is that Ozpin was weakened here, yet he still mopped the floor with Cinder before she went all-out. Ozpin in his prime would litterally demolish her.
In many ways, it maybe just me. As Ozpin fights it reminds me of fighting depression for many years now. As he gets reincarnated so does that spark of hope and the ability to fight it off a bit better. As time goes on that spark fades and so does your ability to fight you start to end up as the apathy. There are many paths to fight it but in my personal experience becoming numb to it is a very scary thing to me now as it shows that the only way to cope is to shut yourself down emotionally to survive.
@@catdoger2 awesome!!!! Here they are; The Verandertier(s) (from tier verander, German for "changed beast"), are creatures (types of animal life to be exact) native to the world of Remnant, being direct and indirect descendants of the planet's original inhabitants (who occupied the planet before the Gods remade it as they please, thinking it was a blank slate). Like the Grimm (but having no relation to), they often pose a threat to to humanity. But UNLIKE the Grimm, which do so for the sake of it and live to do so, Verandertiers attack out of a sense of self preservation, defending territory and young, or otherwise "misbehaving", being neither good nor evil. their unique status as lifeforms not made by the Gods and the unstable, chaotic, and always changing ecosystem the planet used to have, the Verandertiers are capable of "improvised ontogeny", a mutation like metamorphosis that allows an individual animal or other lifeforms to adapt to a variety of situations and to enable rapid evolution. An animal or person becomes one if they have a "V base" in their genetic makeup that then activates by various causes, usually life threatening ones like allergies, toxins, extreme injuries, etc. (More specifically, the improvised ontogeny is how a normal animal actually becomes a Verandertier, and that Verandertiers are "descendants " of Remnants original inhabitants in the sense that the V-base came from a certain lineage of the latter that survived just long enough for the V-base to cross paths with and somehow inherited by precursors to a select few, if any, of each modern species, which is how almost any animal could have a V-base yet Verandertiers are rarely seen). The resulting form is usually superior to its original counterpart in at least a few ways. As you can tell, a lot about these guys is biological and natural. This is because I am a HUGE fan of bringing creatures to a context like this, justifying why and how beautiful creatures do the things they do. They're also like this to differentiate them from the demonic Grimm, which to me, the huntsmen would be very used to at this point. So something new like the Verandertiers popping out of the blue should provide a couple of interesting and unique challenges for our heroes and villains. What do you think? Anything specific you like?
@@praetorianrex5571 It seems well fleshed out. How often does this process happen? How would they interact with society them or society with them? When adapting to a new environment how fast are they at adapting? Just giving you a few few questions to help with thinking about some other things about them.
When they have finished changing does it take a toll on their mind? How would say a human or a faunus react after the change? Are there any drawbacks to these changes?
I'm thinking that I'm the only one who thinks that they would have been perfectly even, because face it, Cinder probably fought her way there AND used up some of her strength to blast a hole into the ground. add the fact that she LITERALLY JUST got the full Fall Maiden thing like a moment or so before this, she didn't have time to "get used" to her newfound powers. and then Ozpin has been sitting behind a desk for YEARS...which makes him rusty. VERY rusty. He probably tired himself out just to keep up with Cinder, then add all the dust and powers he used there...yeeaah, there's no way he wouldn't have tired himself out. either way, they were TIED! TIED, I TELL YOU!
Everyone is arguing about weather or not Ozpin is the wizard, but the evidence I've seen points to something else entirely. My theory is that Oz and Salem are something completely different than anything on Remnant. When they first discovered "mankind" as Salem refers to them, Salem likely wanted them gone, while Oz saw potential. Salem creates the Grimm and sets them on humanity, trying to get rid of them with brute force and overwhelming power, while Ozpin is more subtle; leading mankind to dust, teaching them to utilize aura, even creating a school to make better fighters. Fast forward an indefinite amount of time, and things have calmed down; the more dangerous Grimm are asleep, and mankind believes that they're safe. Oz and Sal are ancient by now, and incredibly patient. Suddenly, Salem finds Cinder, a young woman who is skilled, insecure, and above all, power hungry. Ruby suddenly advancing two years wasn't a coincidence, Oz is playing the long game, and humanity needs a hero.
Most of my evidence is derived from how Salem speaks about mankind and Ozpin. This is how I would have written it, based on their interaction. Who knows? Maybe the wizard never even existed in the first place. Maybe the maidens' power was always there, and people needed an explanation. It may have been based in truth, but it's still a legend. We were faked out by this with the whole "Ruby is a maiden!" fiasco, and I doubt things happened exactly as they did in the story.
I love Pyrrha, but this does show that her chances against Cinder were always slim. Something I've noticed in RWBY is that characters significantly younger than their opponents rarely win. Experience is obviously important, but I'm convinced it's also Aura. There's a reciprocal loop with experience because taking hits better means losing less Aura, but you get the idea. Here the biggest factor to the contrary was obviously the Maiden powers, other times it's environmental hazards, last-minute backup that strikes a critical weak point, or something like that.
